Something Amiss
Val sat on her bed, head in her hands. She was rail thin, knowing damn well she was reaching her post-graduation weight again. It wasn’t good, everyone noticed. It had all been going so well and then an old feeling returned. Something she had never been able to place when she was younger. Now that she was older, she could feel it, something was off with her body. She didn’t know what and it had flared her depression, which flared her disordered eating, and if she was being honest, it was more a full eating disorder now. Not that it helped, if anything, it made it all worse.
She had stopped letting Aly see her naked outside of sex. When they had sex she never looked at herself. The mirrors around the apartment were covered or even taken down. It was something Val had done when she was younger but she thought she had grown out of it.
Val knew Aly would be there any minute, she’d gotten the heads up text and while she was grateful for it, she just wanted to cry. The sweater she wore was all but falling off her frame, which seemed to amplify just how thin she’d gotten. This wasn’t okay, but Val didn’t know what else to do and she was too scared to try and find out alone.
