I've been here longer than this. I just wanted a new place for art and fixations. Not a minor. Primarily here for MCYT - Crow at heart and Philza main since early 2021. My reblogs go to my other blog @skrelmscollection
thinking about how joel offhandedly mentioned that lizzie and philza apparently have an ongoing feud bc of mcc and just. Thats such a fun, niche bit of mcyt character lore to vague about in. What is Lizzie, Queen of the Oceans and occasionally Shadows, beef with Philza Minecraft, Angel of Death? I don't know but I am going to be peppering this in to any fics with them in the future
(Ultrakill followers I am not dead: life just has eaten me. I will get back to that but excuse me Minecraft block people have me in a vice grip for a moment here)
So here's some things I know off top of my head that may contribute to this for a lore reason beyond "killed a lot in mcc" at least from c!Philza's perspective as I'm not up on Lizzie's character lore and deeds.
going in non exhaustive chronology and using info from THIS post I made a while back while QSMP 1 was ongoing. Bear with me because I'll set up a bunch of back context and then tie it together: (courtesy cut for length)
Right So C!Philza
HC S1 Death - Hard drive Crash; honorary death; still alive technically and when the Hard drive was repaired he was able to bring it back to life and could technically still play on that world if he wants. He opted to voluntarily not to as a self imposed death and to remain with new HC worlds moving forwards. HC S1 Philza is very much a human who found out the underpinnings of his reality were breaking down and escaped outside of reality somehow. Now he is dead to this world while still being trapped there, eternally alive, so that he may live elsewhere.
c!philza in his hardcore s2 world had a moment where he threw a trident and lost it to the void (Foreshadowing is a Literary device). This is the first world he gets elytra to explore the void and gets his taste and love of flying as it's the first elytra is added to the game. IRL Phil and Kristin started dating during this world's run time. In Lore one could see it as this being Lady Death taking notice of c!Philza and holding her attention by his nature of being both living and dead and just his general self. This world is where he dies to the spider and baby zombie and becomes infamous. HC S2 Philza ended while being something other than human. This is is first official HC death. At the same time HC S1 him is still technically alive. His already tenuous existence with reality gains further complications as he is not-dead-dead now made secondarily alive and dead once more. It is an error in what should be. He also died with wings that became almost permanent features for him and in a cave as a tomb. He died from a foolish mistake, wearing his elytra instead of a chest plate because he loved flying so much it was just second nature to have it on. because of this gaining him attention and support IRL, he got to see Kristin more. Which means in lore c!Philza and Lady Death became more entwined by this moment.
This HC S2 death could be where he transforms fully into the moniker of "Angel of Death" in actuality and not just in name. He died and was elevated to something more than an average human. The IRL world took notice and by being dead he gained new life and a sort of immortality by notoriety. He became something the code could not parse so Lady Death stepped in to make it make sense. C!Philza became both timeless and not. He knew of old world knowledge as well as being ever himself. He is both of the past and the present in his making. He is technically still alive in the past of HC S1 still.
This is where him being tied to Lady Death might start to ping on c!Lizzy's radar as her sometimes role as Queen of the Shadows. All the hidden things and the unknown lurking in the darkness. All the what ifs that not knowing what is truly out in the dark. Suddenly there's someone exploring in that darkness to find things, a someone who does and does not belong to it.
In HC s3 He lasted a week due to a glitch. It was the world malfunctioning on him again that claimed him. He fell out of the world because the universe's code glitched and he was shoved out of the gate to the end into the void. HC S3 Philza went into the void. The void that connects his realms. He followed the way his trident went and fell into the world of HC S4. The void which is famously an eternal realm of darkness with beings that fear and loath the touch of water. Perhaps an attempt from something/someone outside trying to correct someone who does and doesn't belong? (c!Lizzy pushing him into the void to try and reset the problem person in her realm and correct it? Perhaps there's things on her side that c!Philza's strange status and actions resulted in lore for her? Either way her attempt doesn't work... in fact it gets worse)
In HC s4 he built a giant trident in the End Island and stated that it was the same one he lost in HC s2. He said it had been warped to grow larger by time and space after traveling through the void between worlds and was still slowly moving and cracking the island. Warped by that Darkness the Queen of Shadows potentially holds sway over.
HC s4 lore around the end island is as follows: The Ender King was stealing an ocean monument from the Overworld to drag it into the End. The HC S4 Deities Ocean Overlord and Rose used their powers to stop it but that also means they've stopped water from further flowing into the end island. The Ender King also had the water he'd pulled through already thus held in place and he became trapped beneath it all by his own greed. The Island is completely drowned under water.
If That trident is still moving and that cracking the island that potentially means one day it will crack through and the water there will drain away into the void. this leaves two options: the deities allow more water to flow which means a constant draining of the ocean into the abyss OR allow the Ender King to heal up and draw back his power to cause problems once again.
Also c!philza is pretty famous for draining an ocean monument for one of his builds and inspiring many others to do the same
So then there's now c!Lizzy.... Queen of the Oceans and Shadows
Someone, as usual, lost an item in the darkness of the End Void. No big deal, that's an average Tuesday. It doesn't even register really.
Someone (hey is that the same person who lost something?) who has a weird code reading - (alive-dead-but actually double alive now while still technically alive from the first time, but also dead from that first time but still alive-- ok that's weirdly cyclical that can't be right) - is spending a lot of time in the End and is using the new elytra really well. That's... kind of annoyingly like having a fly in your room that you can hear buzzing. It's not really an issue but you kinda of become more and less aware of it at times as it buzzes around.
Hey what the heck why is one of her ocean monuments above water? It's got a tinge of Lady Death's realm to it though so is it not an issue? Also why is it that fly-guy again?
He's just always there in the back of her head, the fly buzzing around in the room and being annoying just by being what he is-- until something happens that makes it louder...
Queen of the Shadows includes a bit of the Unknown and what is more Unknown that the fabric of Death itself? So when something strange happens over there, c!Lizzy notes that something happened but it doesn't seem to be anything as a cause for alarm. Lady Death is personally involved so she's going to stay out of her way.
Except fly guy is now extremely loud buzzing. He's wrong and in the void of the end she can feel it. He's alive-dead-alive alive-dead-dead alive deathless. He is clearly having issues that Lady Death needs to handle so she gives Lady Death a helping hand and gives c!Philza a little push when HC S3 C!Philza enters the end.
what the fuck do you mean that guy's trident's code is fucked up now too and why is the ocean suddenly in so much of a weird state mixing with the shadows and why is it THAT FLY GUY AGAIN
what do you MEAN you might cause the ocean to drain into the void until it is dry and leave that water eternally falling through the darkness and messing up the perfectly good void and if that happens there's one of the Endermen who has a lot of power over there that will cause problems for the realm of shadows and the oceans again?!
WHAT IS WITH THIS FLY GUY HE KEEPS SHOWING UP IN THE GAMES AND BEATING ME AS HE IS FUCKING UP MY STUFF!? UNACCEPTABLE! HOW DARE HE LAUGH LIKE IT IS ALL A FRIENDLY COMPETITION! (ok it is but the PRINCIPAL of it!)
Like she was aware like a fly in the room before but then they started interacting and MCC started happening and it just blew up that not only is he winning but he's making problems and being annoying by existing as he does despite him doing nothing wrong in any part of it.
thanks for coming to my ted talk of a horribly one sided interpretation of block people story time lmao
messing around with art program and drew waster's inner thoughts in that last page at the Flowerbed Fortress lol (I'm joking but it was funny so i made it)
If I have borrowed your OC you can obvs request me to adjust so that:
I stop using them entirely
I can only use them as cameo background appearances with credit
I can use them as a character with speaking and all (tell me about your OC i wish to know all the things please. Lore dump on me. Tell me things)
Our first Scout Point! The Flowerbed Fortress located in 1-3 is a large structure. As with almost every other Scout Point you will find multiple factions / multiple different teams that have agreed to a ceasefire within the grounds. Sometimes it's just a quick stop for fuel or other business. Other times some remain for a long period of time. There is no set duration of stay required.
More headcannon lore / worldbuilding below the cut
Each Scout Point is named according to obvious landmarks as a naming convention. These Scout Points were originally used as tracking markers for the Hell explorations. There are some, however, that do not follow this naming structure. These were either created in later expeditions or for a particular event or phenomenon that occur(s) in the area.
A Scout Points' size varies, but generally the rule of thumb is the higher up you are, the larger it can be. Upper levels tend to be more developed for additional functions such as testing and documentation back up archives. Deeper levels tend to be smaller and more heavily fortified; based more on function and practicality. Their information centers and relays are the most secure areas of the Scout Point as that is the primary function for their expeditions.
The number of Scout Points can vary on each layer as further explorations occurred. Sometimes there may be a primary Scout Point with satellite bases scattered about. Other times there may be multiple larger or more heavily fortified ones depending on circumstances and so on and so forth.
The Scout Points would be vital resources as the Hell Explorations and Mining endeavors were underway. They've served as a point of safety for machines and formerly Humans. In more recent times, the Streetcleaners have started to completely overtake many of them due to their cooperative nature giving them a numbers advantage. Thus they remove other machines that had formerly cooperated and taken shelter there. However, there are points that exist with mixed machine types and or entirely taken over by other particular types of machine.
For Streetcleaners in particular, as time has progressed, requests for parts or resources or etc often requires a trade of information recently observed so as to keep updated logs of developments throughout the layers. If new or uncommon information is reported, there tends to be more allocated to the request. If there is more common knowledge or little to nothing to report, the request will be fulfilled in a smaller quantity if at all depending on the Scout Point's resource status.
Knowledge is power and a Scout Point can be a vital hub of activity and trade... sometimes...
Also: Me looking at the collection of OCs I've been gathering and scooping up
-rolls- page 8 is getting there, life has been very very busy lately. Just letting folks know I ain't defeated yet by this comic lol thank you to the folks reblogging and spreading it and all the likes in the meantime <3
i'm also shifting away from the sketchy lineart to still sketchy but now a more solid line style because its annoying me how much it can take to get a solid enough line with the sketch brush sometimes.
perpetual reminder that if you have a machine oc and want them to make a cameo let me know
Okay uhh!! I think I have written down answers that satisfy me well enough (and hopefully will satisfy you!), although I'll probably go over them again, and then will post em with some shitty doodles :)
Aayyyy no stress on it, im glad i could help inspire some creative go juice lol
I decided not to be hard on myself as this is supposed to be a low pressure fun thing with no real standards so after being so busy IRL have a text heavy page lol
But heeeyyyyy look at that. We're being invited to go see other Streetcleaners. Wonder what Machines are hanging out at the base~
I heard you like asking questions about ultrakill ocs,,,,,you can like,,,,,check mine out if you'd wanna
it's more than just these two I just thought this would be a good image for an ask :>
Hello! Yes! Good! Sharing time! I thought folks would want to hold up their oc blorbo and be like 'this is my son with every disease' and I ask more but this also works lmao
So you have a bunch of V-series OCs from what I can find on your tumblr, right? I dig the idea of V-model enemies being created after Hell gets to witness what V1 could do. Let alone that V2 had been down there first already entertaining Hell and the Terminals.
At least that's what I'm assuming lol Time for Questions!
First, am I right? Did hell decide to take up more robotic parts and fusing them to husks and hell mass to create these false V models?
You've given them all the insect abdomen was it purely stylistic or have you come up with a function that explains why each one has it?
Do they run on blood like other machines in the ultrakill universe or if they were Hell made do they not need any because of Hell Mass?
V I has a virtue. Tell me things I wish to know more how did they get that? The virtue is communicating with V I is that a development after it was captured? was the Virtue a creation of whoever made these Models?
Does the Virtue have a name? If they were captured, do they try to escape? Do they still rally their power to attack the VI or are they infected and on board with VI's desires?
C-4 uses the sand and I can only imagine they are either super popular or generally disliked. They can offer extra protection for others by making them unappealing targets. How do they regard others? How do they choose which ones they protect? Does C-4 Get that choice or are they commandeered as someone's personal tool to help themselves and don't care much for what C-4 wants.?
V-5, what is their story? How did they lose their head? were they designed like that? How do they function or is this hell nonsense? Did they name their skull lmao
V0 is interesting as a concept. The mirror reaper was a single instance and specifically inherent to V1 as implied by the narrative. Especially with the presence of the office of the new peace with the breakdown of the OS and the single instance of it and the whole layer being the first big emphasis on reflection and looking at yourself (as V1) and "reflecting on you" on multiple levels of meaning. The husks are heavily implied to be possibly related to the creation of V1. So then to have V0 be a combination of both concepts fused into one beast... are they a enemy to all? do they go after machine and husk and angel? Do they try to tear into the layers of Hell itself
I'm sure I will have more questions when this gets answered lol
Finally got time to get progress on the next page of Annealing~ Not making any promises but I thought folks would like to know it's probably gonna be done this weekend or so~
What are your streetcleaners' "brains" flesh-to-electronics ratio?
Thanks for the questions!
So in general for flesh to mechanics/electronics I don't really see it being any more or less than an average in game streetcleaner. Perhaps there's a bit extra fleshy bits for specific batch type subclasses. (EX: defenders with extra armor having extra fleshybits through their body to help support and move it as necessary)
We don't really know what the canonical meat to bot ratio is when it comes to software brains for all machines. Given that in the Fraud layer we can see there are regular computers that look like our world's. It's possible they're just all software and electronics with some blood in the mix. It's also possible there's half a brain in there.
Our biggest clue to possibly how computing occurs is from Benjamin (the Earthmover from Violence).
below the courtesy cut for length
That giant brain powers this giant robot
That is an abnormally large brain, it is a more than reasonable guess that it was vat grown.
it is possible that there are undersized full brains like that as well for smaller machines but we aren't sure on that in the Ultrakill universe. We DO have a small scale of it IRL with the petridishes of brain cells
Scientists in the US have uploaded a fruit fly to a computer simulation, while an Australian lab has taught neurons on a glass chip to play
As well as the mini brains that were grown and developed eyes as sight was prioritized for the brains this means.
Brains, eyes, and not much else.
Given that the first warmachine had a whole person strapped in a coffin in their back in order to function I think that many probably were built around a full normal human brain. Corpses were a plenty during and after the war I can imagine. Not to mention that Guttermen weren't all volunteers I can see the cannibalization of soldiers and citizens in favor of machine production. At least till things settled down and vat grown could keep up with production.
So overall? I think it's kind of like that. There are vat grown primitive brains or lobotomized brains with the default neural pathways able to run a sort of "if this then that" relay. Given a brain's capacity to learn and create more neurons/connections it stands to reason this is what allows machines to learn and develop "quirks" (conscious sentience).
The amount of conscious sentience is a variable part of this and why I think that the machine ocs can have their quirks and personalities without breaking the cannon. (see the Gutterman that wrote a poem in Violence)
So small brain in chest of streetcleaners along with an equal amount of hardware if not a bit more due to the hadrware and software being the priority and the brain is treated like a motherboard or cpu.
Just out of curiosity, I want to ask a question: ... Do (your?) streetcleaners have proper vision/eyes? Or they operate by other sensors? I guess? Where are they? Are they more flesh? Or mechanical?
I ask forgiveness if this sounds foolish eidjjekd.
no that's an excellent question that didn't get much thought initially for me, but boy am I thinking about it now!
So canonically we don't actually know, so I'm gonna just talk about my headcannon.
TL;DR: I think their vision is mechanical and a combination of cameras in the head eye slits that move independent of each other, thermal sensors, and a radar like capability.
The longer explination and justifications for that answer are below the courtesy cut lol
A Streetcleaners primary purpose is the removal of harmful substances or ones that could fester into disease vectors. Primarily they use fire. So between exposure to these substances and the smoke and release of chemicals from the burning it doesn't logically make sense for them to have flesh based biological eyes. So their vision is from mechanical sources.
I think it's a multifaced function for them honestly. In my mind, the actual "brain" of a streetcleaner exists inside their chests hence the extra plating (that bit with the warning stripes) and their heads are full mostly of thermal sensors to monitor the output of their flames and identify areas yet to be cleaned by fire. basically the front part of the snout.
the rear of the head is where those components connect to the brain and provides additional functions. I do enjoy the thought of those 2 slits on each side of the head being their eyes. It might not be entirely the most logical but it pleases me so i make it so.
some logic to it is that with a thermal sensor acting as one form of observing the world (kind of like a snake's thermal pits for sensing heat) being directly ahead, They have a need to observe their surroundings for the cold spots that thermal can't help with and yet may be a danger (falling debris from something they burned the support of, attacks from husks and demons, keeping track of human placed or moved objects that are markers or etc to not be burned or used as a point of reference) so they have eyes that can see above and to the sides easily.
I think that as they were one of the first machines of the new peace to come at the time at the end of / just after the long night they would be outfitted with the ability to see in the dark as well ironically enough for something that uses fire.
They have the benefits of both predatory and prey based eye sights based on the side and front facing arrangements. This gives them a large amount of awareness of their surroundings. I feel like despite first glance, the ability to perceive the world and make detailed assessments of it is important for streetcleaners. They had to go out in teams which meant they could not all be babysat at once by a human. Thus they had to be able to observe the world, catalogue what they were 'seeing' for both their own ability to make judgements about how to proceed with what they found as well as to return information for people. They were the scouts that would show people what was out there and the things they'd be facing in that area before humans could even get there due to the pollution and hazard risks.
They're able to record and present more information about the environment they go into and the situation at hand thanks to all of this. However, their eyes are protected due to needing them to be functional for recording information and dealing with their work hazards that they would face in the time of the new peace clean up. Hence they are small slot like observation ports. I would imagine that as they are not limited to human eyesight, each of the mechanical eyes could look in different directions simultaneously. With the limited field of view it makes sense why they would be a machine that waggles its head often and gives the impression of human like motions or bodylanguage as they are trying to make sure they have constant observation of multiple points of view. Basically: Mega-lizard-eyes lol
I also believe though, that there's a sort of... like machine scan? they'd possess. Kind of like a radar ping. This would originate from the chest as the most direct "line of sight" for where they are going to proceed forwards. This is both for safe navigation as well as mapping out the space for humans to use the data from as I touched on before.
Since streetcleaners went in first and most thouroughly, having them have multiple ways to observe their environment clearly helps humans prepare for interacting with that same environment. Having data available will allow for planning of repurposing tasks like utilities and construction as well as city planning and transit needs.
Their backside is their weakpoint as we know from the explosive tank there, but it also has less vision coverage as well For Streetcleaners. They retain a sort of awareness of what is behind them, but visual data is limited in capacity unless they move their head. The thermal sensors would be able to pick up their 360 surroundings within their limited range of operation and the radar does give some "peripheral vision" of data to the sides and back a bit. It is not a full 360 view though. Given their working in teams and packs, they would have other units available to watch each other's backs.
genuinely btw, if you want an excuse to talk about your ultrakill oc and have me ask a ton of questions about them im down. particularly for machines because they are a fascinating concept for me in this setting where the divine meets the artificial like this
Hey y'all! So I know I haven't posted much lately BUT college has been crazy. And related to that, for one of my classes I'm doing a study on the relationship between time within the greater fandom community and understanding of fanfiction-related jargon. Below I have the link to the survey which will just have three multiple choice questions relating to your relationship to fandom and then a list of 15 terms to define if you know them.
Please reblog this or otherwise share the survey link with anyone you think might be interested so I can have as large of a sample size as possible for this. The form will be open until April 24th.
Thank you all so much!
(and yes, I will post the data when I get it all collected for all you fellow nerds)
A survey to determine the relationship between the understanding of fandom jargon and the time one has been in the fandom community
... Tho uh. There is no art yet and. I put nothing down actually because i trust my memory too much.
... And the concept is kind of cringe. Something like a prototype streetcleaner that survived until now cuz it was a museum piece/owned by a private collector.
Fist off, aw yay! I'm glad to give you a boost towards creativity!
Secondly:
Did you forget you are on the hellsite of cringe is dead long live the cringe? Do you seek to kill the joy of whimsy? NAY! Bring forth thy inner child and play!
Now tell me things I have questions.
Do they have a name / designation? Pronouns?
Are they functional, malfunctioning, or functionally malfunctioning?
Have they been active this whole time or did something happen on the surface to activate them and then they made their way to hell for blood due to the lack on the surface?
How do you regard their memory? Is it like they knew the world as the burgeoning or entering its prime time of the New Peace and then suddenly the next day the world is dead on the surface?
Did they download data from something to give them all the context they need? Are they needing to learn from other street cleaners?
Did their time as a museum piece affect the organic fleshy bits that we know machines have inside them and does that need to be addressed for them? or were they preserved and thus not have to concern themselves with it? Have they used hellmass as a substitute and does that impact their behavior or personality?
Do they have Opinions (TM) on the other Machines that would have been created after their time and are new to them?
Where do they live? Where do they spend their time? Do they stay on a layer or level? do they wander?
Are they social? Are they able to connect with all machines or do some of the newer ones have translation or remote connection errors due to technology incompatibility? if so would they willingly scrounge parts from other machines to improve?
Are they ashamed at their old technology self? Do they shake their fist at a cloud going on about how kids these days don't know how easy they have it?
Can they carry as much fuel as newer Streetcleaners or are they more limited due to being a prototype? or the opposite? do they have more but it's a hindrance in some way as the design was being refined stil?
ok i hit you with enough questions lmao Tag me when you do get some art!
Quick update: Im not dead lol I've been busy lately as I've been starting and setting up my own small business, but thank you for the love for my stuff here in the meantime!
Oh hey you know... Waster doesn't always get immediately run off. Older Units with more experience in Hell tend to get rank over other newer machines unless there is significant technological advantages the newer machines have. (Learos is a newer model than XALSOO if you look at the numbers in their names and so "younger".)
Wonder what XALSOO has up their theoretical sleeve...
[EDIT: tired me is no longer allowed to post pages late at night. Just fixed the speech bubble formats to be correct for who is speaking for the XAL units so see corrected page HERE]
reblog because posting on a holiday for some folks is probably a good way for folks to miss things
Also, because it was pointed out a newer ip probably has more newer to tumblr users, please remember: likes do nothing, reblogs are best and how art spreads. There is no algorithm to do this for people and I wish to gather machines lol
I personally like how this is going and am looking forwards to getting others ocs in this story. if you've a machine oc who you'd be okay with me using to cameo let me know! Tell me about your son who has every disease.
