Maybe if I just work harder, this empty cup will pour again
Maybe the cup needs a bit of time to rest and refill?
Maybe the cup needs to lock the fuck in???

Y'all for real please do these. Even if you're certain your posture doesn't suck. One day you will wake up with impinged shoulder pain like I did and let me tell you it fucking HURTS. Do these exercises even just once a week and it will make such a difference. Especially my fellow creatives out there, stop shrimping over your work and go do these right now. RIGHT NOW.
Also, if youâre even a little concerned about getting a hump or having trouble standing fully upright in your old age, this is how you prevent that. If you want to be up and about when youâre old you have to start when youâre younger. And keep in mind there is no bad time to start and itâs never too late. Starting today is way better than never starting at all.
Wait! I can change! *grotesquely transforms into a snarling ghoul*
eridian students: savior grace! what is savior rocky to you?

common advice for social anxiety is to tell yourself "people aren't going to think less of you just because you said something a bit daft" but the thing is. sometimes they will. and you just have to learn to be cool with that and to treat it as a dnd random encounter rather than letting it ruin your whole day
recent example. lady at my careers appointment had a post-it with her name on it stuck to the monitor, so i introduced myself by saying cheerfully "hello, i'm eliot! you must be [name], it's nice to meet you!" and she stared at me as if i was the stupidest person alive and said icily, "yeah, i'm [name]. congratulations, you can read."
in bygone times this would have reduced me to a sort of quivering blancmange. thankfully i am now in a place where i was able to pull back, evaluate this interaction, and say to myself "this woman should probably not be working in a customer-facing job"
AI companies are pouring tens of billions of dollars into enormous data centers. They're being built on top of a mountain of hidden debt.
As Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei Asia found in a recent investigation, just five US tech giants â Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle â are hiding an estimated $1.65 trillion in debt that doesnât appear on balance sheets. Thatâs even more than the $1.35 trillion in debt the five companies officially reported in their financial data for the most recent quarter. Meta alone has amassed around $420 billion in off-balance-sheet debt, according to Nikkei, highlighting how precarious the AI industryâs steep investment in AI has become, and inspiring comparisons to energy company Enron, which collapsed in spectacular fashion in 2001 because of similar debts hidden behind shell companies. Like Enron, theyâre using special purpose vehicles, or off-balance sheet arrangements such as legally distinct subsidiaries, as a way to make their financial reporting look healthier than it actually is â often a glaring sign that something is deeply amiss behind the scenes.

working with kids and one of them says âyou know you eat 8 spiders a night on average right?â and another goes âno no no those statistics are actually skewed by people who like eat spiders recreationally for fun and stuffâ and my head snapped up like a fucking sleeper agent

A three-circle venn-diagram where the circles are "sex workers", "the furry community", and "people working in morgues". I don't know what the overlap parts are.
Fourth circle needed: IT workers
You say that with such confidence that I am compelled to trust your vision. Personally I have no idea where this is going.
i'd say the overlap between "sex workers" and "people who work in morgues" is probably "seeing naked strangers a lot"
"professional handling of bodies of strangers"?
Putting my neck out for you folks here
Every once in a while, I wish the friendship meter from the Sims was real so that way when people tell me "I used Chat-GPT" they can visually see just how much respect I just lost for them in that moment.
One time an acquaintance told me she entered Snape's star chart into chatgpt and I could physically feel that meter dropping three separate times over the course of her sentence
If this is the last time I write about Spider-Man, you should know what it meant to me, and that it is different from what it did as a child: This power, this responsibility? Itâs something I need to embrace until the wheels come off. To continue to find meaning everywhere I can, to encourage others to not let callous times turn us into callous people. To add my voice to the chorus.Â
In our latest, Joshua Rivera writes about what it means to cover pop culture in this moment. Read or listen to an audio version:
In which our hero contemplates a career writing about superheroes and pop cultureâand imagines an ending.
the fic you write doesnât have to be a masterpiece, it just has to be the story you want to explore for yourself and your own enjoyment
