“You owe no one anything” is not a philosophy of love nor is it sustainable. We owe each other a lot.
The US military gets to spend 50 bajillion dollars on like the Pissing Contest 3000 jet plane and then lose it somewhere in the American southwest two years later and everyone is fine with that but when you say “grade school students should all be offered free and healthy lunches” or “public transportation should be at least somewhat improved” or “we should try to not let so many people die on the streets” everyone starts crying about how we can’t just throw money around like that
smoking on that shit that made tom wait

we have to make love. or the warp core will destabilize
oh noooo shields are offline and hull integrity is down to 20%... there's only one thing for it...... we have to fuck nasty
Maybe it's because I grew up rural and have several pictures of myself holding fish I caught, but it baffles me that people think "men holding fish" photos are inherently "toxic masculinity" somehow.
A man holding a fish is just...a man holding a fish? What about this is a red flag????? He's just a dude showing off that he goes fishing. What is wrong with fishing????? I'd love if a guy took me fishing.
"But it's a dead animal!" Are the workers at the grocery store displaying toxic masculinity when they lay the fresh fish out for the day???
But I also don't understand why people act weird about taxidermy deer heads. Every single person I have ever known who had a taxidermy deer head has had a story about how they, or a family member, got months' worth of meals out of the deer. I don't really understand how a deer head is weirder than all the cottagecore witchy aesthetic bone jars and pinned bugs that tumblr loves so much.
Mostly I think y'all are just classist and have it in your head that "hunting and fishing = inherent bigot."
This isn't about rich trophy hunters and unsustainable hunting practices or me telling you that you absolutely must date a man who goes fishing, this is about a tweet I saw that said, with no other addendums or qualifications, that men holding fish in dating profile photos is an example of toxic masculinity.
A man holding a fish is not inherently toxic because of the fish, y'all. Showing off a fish you caught is a morally neutral action.
i really don’t like the way “not like other girls” are discussed. i don’t like the way that they’re seen as misogynistic for disliking femininity and not for not respecting other girls (which can be understandable if you’re 14 and gender conforming girls constantly ridicule you for not being like them). i don’t like how conforming to femininity is seen as a cure for this stage + how they’re used as a gotcha to say that gender conforming girls and women are treated more poorly than gnc people. and i don’t like how grown adults don’t understand the thought process that brings a child to thinking like that. i don’t like how it takes 0 seconds for it to turn into a dunk on girls (or ppl perceived as girls) who don’t conform to femininty. but that’s just me maybe
“The basic function of popular music is to create an environment for courting, lovemaking, and doing the dishes. It’s useful because it addresses the heart in the midst of all these activities, and it will always be useful in this very important way.”
— Leonard Cohen in a 1985 interview
When someone dies their silence becomes a sort of held note, a key on the piano pressed down for so long it becomes an ache in the ear, a new sonic register from which we start to measure our new, ruptured lives. A white noise. Maybe this is why there is so much music in dying: the funerals, the singing, the hymns, the eulogies. All those sounds crowding the air with what the dead can’t say.
