“Have you seen the new strawberry shortcake design?”

Of course I have. I’m a massive strawberry shortcake nerd. It’s like a job I don’t get paid for.

I expected a new design for a while now, with berry in the big city slowly fading to a stop. I’ve been in these spaces long enough to know what that means.

My opinion? Positive but tired.

Because how could I think negatively about it? I like the 80s design a lot, it’s the original and very iconic for a good reason!

And that’s all this is. It’s just the 80s design.

Again.

Any changes are just stuff they had to adjust to make the design work in 3D. There’s nothing new here.

So on a technical level there’s nothing for me to complain about. It’s a design I like, portrayed well enough!

But if im being honest? I am so incredibly tired of this nostalgia pandering era in entertainment of companies giving up trying new things and just defaulting to the original.

Say what you want about berry in the big city? It was trying something new. There was innovation and creativity there even if people personally disliked the direction. It was reinterpretation not just mimicry.

I don’t just want the same thing again just because it’s comfortable and I’m used to it. I want companies to actually try. Challenge me.

Make me see the things I love in a way in never thought to see them. That’s not scary to me it’s exciting.

So while this looks fun enough for the meantime? I hope it’s more of a transitionary point while they figure out what they want to do next.

Just to keep the brand active while an actually new strawberry shortcake is built.

I don’t want to live in the past. It’s not my thing.

We have more official Berry in the Big City tracks, and this time they're even branded correctly! Following the holiday trend of the first BitBC release, this has the three Winterswirl songs, including the full version of What's a Holiday Without You.

While we're out of holidays, I'm hoping this isn't the end of BitBC releases, because I seriously need an official version of Everything You Ever Wanted (aka the peculiar purple pieman's villain song).

The article announcing the BBA and BitBC song releases did say they plan on releasing songs up till Spring of 2026. The only BBA season they have left is the fourth one, so unless they wait until March to release that, it’s likely they’ll follow through with the full BitBC soundtrack (especially since they actually have access to the masters unlike with BBA)

Unpopular opinion: I loveee the 3D animation in Make your Mark and in A New Generation. The ponies are so fuzzy and cute! I love how they animate the sparkles as well, it’s so pretty.

I know it gets a lot of flack, but it’s genuinely because mlp fans are so nostalgia-poisoned that they can’t accept a new gen! I know this because I used to be like that. After giving it a try, however, I absolutely fell in love with g5.
