Rank the Puppets from Worst to Best?
No shade to the artist, they did exactly what I asked. I just resent anything that reminds me of the (heave) MLP Analysis Community.
V1 basically worked for what I needed it for, people started asking me to work with them and whatnot so I needed one. But looking back on it just brings back 10,000 painful memories. There's a reason V1 lasted only 2 months before I instantly replaced it.
Artist - WitchyLizzy & Mikaila Orchard
These two are basically the same and have the same fundamental problem in that I have never actually dressed like this IRL, and as the years have gone by it just looks like a low-budget VTuber model. Aside from the Horse, these are the ones I've genuinely hated the most because of the bad things they represent.
V3 in particular. I distinctly recall V3 getting the most fanart and most of it being drawn by people who seemingly couldn't comprehend that V3 was a twig. It annoyed the shit out of me.
V6 represents a shift to just straight up animating the puppets, unfortunately the design for V6 is very clearly a proof of concept. It was actually very difficult to work with V6 because the features were so minimalist.
Despite the artist for V2 turning out to be a godbothering crank, V2 remains one I have fond memories about, mostly because I used it for months before coming out as trans, and as a result people clocked it almost immediately. If I'd done this today, the eggs jokes would have never ceased.
I've had people who are going through my backlog ask me why V2 is grey, and that's a lovely thing to hear because it means nobody makes the connection on their own.
V4 is the best the traditional puppets ever got. It worked perfectly, and had thousands of variations on poses that I just straight up couldn't be bothered using. The only thing that brought V4 down was my own laziness as an editor. V3 suffered from the same thing, which is why 4 of her 6 poses went almost completely unused.
However, V4 is the only puppet who actually looks like how I dress IRL. I have dressed this way for the last 20 years and not even a gender transition could make me stop.
In fact REALLY old viewers will know that V4 almost directly resembles the old ZP Style puppet I used when I was a teenager.
V7 takes V6 and fixes every issue it has. The head's no longer too big to do anything with, the actual body parts have enough detail to work visually, and the whole thing looks a lot funnier when it's animated.
I genuinely don't see myself getting rid of this. It's fucking perfect.
The puppet cuts turned out to not be as involved or animated as I'd initially pictured them, largely because it was too involved. But recent videos have settled on something that really works for the puppet so I love it.
