Little dog

Why are you crying?

The world’s full of steel and white

The Earth is dying.

Your mother speaks of green and light

But all you know is greed and blight

Born to run, born to play

But you just lay there, wasting away

Needles, chains, and poison air,

It’s all you’ve known anywhere

Built to run and jump and howl

Forced in blood, in fear, and yowls

Your neighbor’s gone, lies still and cold

A stench of death, a tale of old

Remember your brothers

Remember your sisters

Torn away and sent back listless

A home so small, so dark, so cold

All you taste is rot and mold

It hurts to breathe

It hurts to sing

To them, it doesn’t mean anything

Rest now, little dog, close your eyes

Run into the green and bright blue skies

Live the life you never learned

Never knew

But always earned

Your heart is slowing

Don’t fear the dark

A distant howl, a faint, joyful bark

The pain is fading, the weight is easing

The warmth of home, of life, is breathing

Rest now, little dog, take a final breath

You’ve earned your freedom in the arms of death

imagine we make contact with an alien species that’s like, vastly technologically superior, they could fucking kill us in a single shot if they really wanted to

and this species has never eaten salad before. and we show them salad and they eat it and they’re like holy living fuck this is tasty. and suddenly they’re offering us huge houses with all kind of advanced technological shit and incredible medical care and all the amenities and everything, with the only condition that we keep making salad for them.

and like, salad isn’t even hard to make. grab some plants, dump em in a bowl. it doesn’t have to be fancy salad, they’ll fall all over themselves for the most mediocre salad in the world. we can make so much salad that we’re practically drowning in it, even if we eat some of the salad ourselves. and in exchange we’re protected from danger, we have great living conditions, it’s basically paradise compared to life on earth

As someone who was alive when Bob Ross (and William Alexander before him — that’s where the approach is from) was on PBS, I can 100% testify that you can paint along with him.

You may need to learn how to set up your paints and such… but this is what people did, live, while the show aired. That’s what the show was for. I had family members create lovely works of art they enjoyed, which I still have on my walls, because William Alexander and Bob Ross both said:

SCREW METICULOUS CLASSICAL ART PRACTICES — JUST GRAB A PALETTE KNIFE AND BIG OLD BRUSH AND PAINT!

They freed a whole generation of people who were taught to paint detail and realism and exact representation of reality — people who largely gave up this kind of thing because it got tedious.

I watched the joy of family members as they rediscovered art as a messy fun spontaneous half hour activity.

Come to think of it, it really is insane that my entire country is burning alive and literally no one in the rest of the world cares. Thousands of Indians are dying every day from the heat, it's 45+ degrees in multiple areas, the government couldn't give two fucks, we're getting severe warnings and red alerts, and not a soul outside of South Asia is speaking about it because why would you ever care about brown people
