I’ve used her name in a few otome lately but never actually drawn her so here she is! Still getting a feel for her.

Her last name has fun lore:

No it doesn’t asdfgjjkl I just really like potatoes and I call them tates and was looking for a last name for her while eating a baked potato and it hit me that Tate is a real last name. LOLL. Sorry, Riles.

I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.

It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.

I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

Inktober Day 12 - Slippery

Finally got around to doing day 5 of Inktober. The prompt was "blade" and Cal's lightsaber immediately came to mind. His blade was so integral to Fallen Order. Plus I've never drawn him!

Super self indulgent Clone Wars AU with my MC (Star) and Zayne

A young powerful Jedi Knight Star who hasn’t quite learned to contain all her overwhelming care and emotions, leaning heavily on Commander Zayne sworn to protect her… While he himself was not expecting his General to care quite so much. After all, he was bred to be a soldier, and an expendable one. Slowly she chips away at his heart.

During the Clone Wars, Padawan apprentices were rushed into knighthood and suddenly thrust into role of General without much military (or real-world) experience. They leaned heavily on their clone commanders, who were bred for battle. Those of us Star Wars fans know this ultimately lead to a lot of Jedi Knights who either leave the Jedi Order unable to handle the war conflicting with their ideals or,,, get quite a lot attached to their fellow “soldiers.” I was an avid fan of the Jedi/Clone Commander stories growing up, and I thought this could be fitting. I think it makes a lot of sense to have a young woman who cares too much fall easily for someone who she can lean on dependably. Not that she thinks she’s straying too far from her ideals. In her mind (and MANY Jedi minds at that time lbr!!) things had changed and the Jedi Order just wasn’t what it used to be….. I think she just,,, couldn’t help it ;) it was a nice excuse. K?

The armor markings: For those unfamiliar, Clones to show their individuality, painted their armor. It was lovingly hand-repainted when chipped. Each legion had its own color, like a sports team. I thought the Galactic Republic symbol kind of looks like a snowflake. Star might point that out to him. (It’s also almost star jasmine shaped). Coincidentally too, my favorite medic lieutenant Jesse donned a similar symbol on his armor, so mentally it kind of reminded me of his medic abilities. The rest of his armor was more inspired by clone commander armor to distinguish his rank.

Star’s look: She wears typical Jedi robes. Again for those unfamiliar, most -regardless of race or gender- wear very similar tunics of homespun materials (with the exception of those who chose to retain their cultural wear to pay homage). When the Clone Wars began, many Jedi lovingly took up armor pieces to reflect their legion’s colors and show support. I can only imagine the feeling and emotion this incited in the troopers, knowing that the Jedi didn’t just see themselves as far above them, but part of one unit. To show contrast, I have it wear Star wore long robes of lighter color before, but lovingly adds armor pieces to show her support and match Commander Zayne. I also had her shorten her skirt, to wear calf guards but also for functionality.

Alex really looks like Davis Allen from the Rams to me, but the Zulu City Tunnelers are definitely more Seahawks colors 😳
