“It means their punishment of choice would depend on what i’d done wrong. It works the same with a dominant and a submissive. If I were to punish you, the severity of the punishment would depend on whatever it was you’d done to earn said punishment, and the same would go for me”, he explained, giving a soft shrug. Blake felt awful for Kurt on his knees, wishing he could bundle him up onto the seat. He knew how uncomfortable it was thanks to Cooper, and he hated seeing Kurt in such a position– even though, as a Master, he should have been anticipating just thing. Maybe it wouldn’t have been so bad if he wasn’t growing closer with the other boy every day. “I know, but it’ll go by before you know it”, he tried to comfort him, gently playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

Kurt nodded as Blake spoke before he let out a sigh. It was something he admittedly hated. He hated that no one was free from any of this. Well, he was until he’d sold himself but things probably wouldn’t be much better if he’d let his dad sell thing s of his mother’s but even then, it wouldn’t last them that long, and he’d end up in this situation anyway. Feeling Blake playing with his hair, he smiled slightly and nuzzled into the other a little more, “I really hope so..” HE said, before shutting his eyes over and hoping that blocking everything out apart from Blake would make the journey go by faster.

Blake just chuckled, raising an eyebrow at Kurt. Blake often reminded him of just how adorable he found him, and no amount of ‘am not’s was going to stop him. “Depends on the crime.” He watched as Kurt knelt, observing his facial expression and how tense he was, before paying the driver with a sigh and heading for the seat Kurt was beside, combing his fingers through the boy’s hair and guiding his head to rest against his thigh. “It’s only 15 minutes baby.”

Kurt just shot the other a sceptical look when seeing the raised eyebrow because really, adorable was the last word Kurt would ever use to describe himself no matter how much Blake tried to insist that he was “What does that mean?” Kurt asked, trying not to sound too impatient as he spoke in case someone overheard them and tried to start anything. He didn’t know why Blake was being so cryptic about this, if that was his intentions. Masters being punished wasn’t something Kurt needed protection from as he’d never be in that position. Kurt stared as his lap the entire time, trying to stay in the ‘submissve’ position until they got to their destination. It was partially so people would be impressed, but also so that Kurt wouldn’t catch people’s stares and judgemental looks. Kurt breathed in shakily and shook his head as Blake brought his head against his thigh and rested it against his thigh. Kurt nuzzled slightly before looking down at his lap. “It’s fifteen minutes too long..”

Blake couldn’t help but chuckle, leaning back away from Kurt’s jaw and kissing his nose instead. “You’re adorable”, he murmured to himself, pulling away from the other so he could flag the bus that was headed to their stop. “The Government”, he said as the bus pulled up and opened it’s doors, and he fished his wallet from his pocket. “Find an empty seat and kneel beside it while I pay our fares. There’ll be handrails for you.”

Kurt scrunched his nose up and shook his head as Blake spoke “No, I’m not.” he said, before letting the other step back. Kurt still held onto the other’s hand tightly as the bus pulled up “What will they do to you..?” He asked, biting his lip softly. Nodding, Kurt stepped onto the bus and kept his head down in case someone said something about him looking up “Yes, Master..” He said softly before walking down the aisle of the bus. It didn’t take him too long to find an empty seat for them, and slowly knelt down, and grimaced slighlty. Kurt hated going on buses any considering how dirty they were, and this was before he’d been bought so he would’ve been allowed a seat. Having to kneel on the floor was almost nightmarish, and Kurt really hoped that the bus jorney wouldn’t be too long.

Blake faltered as Kurt moved away, his expression sad as he tried to reach for him. “Please come here, Kurt”, he said quietly, asking, not ordering him this time. He just wanted to help, but he couldn’t help but feel like he was only making things worse instead of better. “Sweetheart, you can’t think like this, you’re making it harder for yourself by trying to convince yourself it’s real. I’m sorry, okay? I don’t want to hurt you, but you’re hurting yourself here, so I need you to listen to me.”

Kurt stayed where he was when Blake spoke and just looked down at his lap. He couldn’t bring himself to look at the other after what he’d said, “And how am I hurting or making i t harder on myself?” He asked, turning around, and frowning at the other, “Why is it wrong for me to actually have some comfort in this?”

Blake loved how Kurt held onto him, and he couldn’t help but beam as he peppered more kisses over Kurt’s jaw, ignoring the looks of other Masters and Mistresses that past– it wasn’t frowned upon to act in such a way with a slave, but those more traditional in the society often looked down upon it. But, Blake didn’t care. He wasn’t doing anything wrong, after all. “Because society needs a hierarchy to function. That’s why life is filled with labels for everything about a a person. A person can’t just be a person. They have to fall under a category.”

Kurt bit down on the inside of his cheeks as Blake started kissing his jaw; it had always been a weak point for him and hwile he was fine with Blake kissing there behind close doors, he didn’t want to be a breathless mess in public. Especially with all the looks they had been given from those passing by. Even if it wasn’t against the rules “It’s just... It’s ridiculous. I thought that Masters were the ones who were at the top..considering they’re the ones who own the slaves. So who is it that outranks the Masters?”

Blake sighed, running his hands through his curls. Kurt had been having these dreams for weeks now. Dreams of his Mom, in his room, and in Blake’s room, apparently. She’d talked to him, and he was becoming more and more convinced that these dreams were in fact reality.

Blake had let Kurt believe it at first– he got it, Kurt missed him Mom and it helped him deal with it, became mourning could last a life time when it was someone so close to you. But now, Kurt was waking him up during almost every night, and Blake was so exhausted from his disturbed sleep that he couldn’t handle it anymore. “Sit down, Kurt”, he ordered, pinching his nose when Kurt obeyed with a slightly startled expression.

“Sweetheart..”, he said quietly, trying to keep his tone light, because he wanted as little as possible to upset Kurt right now, “I know you think you’re seeing her but…they’re dreams Kurt. They’re not real. You need to stop this and get some proper sleep.”

After he’d told the other about another dream he’d had about his mother - they’d been happening so often lately that they just seemed even more real each tiem they happened - Kurt was surprised at the other’s tone and the order. Usually Blake would just listen to what he was saying. Falling silent, Kurt sat down on the bed and looked at the other. His eyes only widened when the other spoke, and shifted slightly away from the other, “But I am seeing her,” He interjected before letting the other speak again.”But..they have to be real. They’re too vivid for it to just be in my head.”

Blake hummed, his thumb lightly running back at forth over Kurt’s shoulder blade, “Relax, sweetheart, it’s going to be fine”, he murmured softly, wrapping his arms around Kurt and holding him close when they reached the shelter, his lips brushing Kurt’s cheek in a lingering, and hopefully comforting kiss. “No one is exempt from anything, despite what they’d like you to believe.”

Kurt could only smile wryly as Blake’s thumb had rubbed over his back, trying his best to actually relax before the bus arrived. Sighing, Kurt wrapped his arms around Blake as well, and held onto him even tighter than before when they got to the bus shelter. He smiled at the other softly when the other kissed his cheek before his face fell again, “Then what’s the point in having all of this, then? If anyone can get punished for anything, then what’s the point in this whole hierachy that’s already ridiculous in the first place?”

Blake adored how Kurt would let him muss up his hair even if it was just slightly like now– and it was certainly pleasing. The bond with his slave was growing ever so more every day, just as he’d longed for. “I don’t know, I don’t make them”, he shrugged, heading for the bus stop visible only a couple hundred yards down the street. “I could be subject to a punishment, which i’d much rather not endure if you don’t mind.”

Kurt was surprised at the fact he was letting Blake touch his hair like this. he didn’tt hink that they would get to this stage that Kurt would feel comfortable enough to let Blake do this. At most, when Kurt first came to live with Blake, he thought that at most he’d just be tolerating Blake. Kurt smiled wryly at Blake, before gripping onto Blake tighter when seeing the bus stop as they headed towards it “I don’t think anyone wants a punishment. Although, I’m surprised that you’d get them. I thought that you’d be exempt from them.”

Blake ran his fingers across Kurt’s cheek briefly as they headed for the exit of the driveway and onto the main street, giving him a slight nod in response. “Afraid not”, he giggled a little when Kurt nuzzled, but scratched behind his ear all the same. “If there was, I would have told you about it already. But it’s the rules. We’ll both get into trouble if we don’t follow them.”

Feeling Blake’s fingers running across his cheek, Kurt let his eyes close over slowly and smiled before following Blake to the main street. Hearing the giggle, Kurt glared playfully at the other, but let a content hum as Blake scratched behind his ear. “Why is it even a rule, anyway,” Kurt said, sighing as he shook his head before looking up at Blake “What would happen to you?”

“Then I won’t let them”, Blake immediately assured him, placing his fingertips beneath Kurt’s chin to tilt his head so he was looking right at him, his hazel eyes soft and comforting behind his glasses. “If someone wants to punish you but I don’t feel it’s validated, then I have a right to step in and stop them. If I say you didn’t do anything, they can’t do anything.” Blake smiled– it was so nice to see how Kurt was slowly learning to trust him and feel comfortable around him. It made him really happy, because it was all he wanted. “I know, sweetheart. I do too, trust me.”

Kurt let Blake lift his head up and managed a soft smile towards the other. He did feel slightly more relieved but Kurt still wasn’t wanting anyone to punish him if there weren’t Blake. “Thank you...” He said softly as he looked at the other. Sighing a little, Kurt nuzzled softly into Blake’s neck as he looked up at him, “Is there no way to avoid it?”

Blake just shrugged his shoulders a little, and looked down at the ground. “It all depends on the circumstances. If you were rude or disrespectful to a Master or Mistress that wasn’t me, and they didn’t want to punish you, then it would fall to me.” As they headed outside, he pulled Kurt even closer than he already was– though it felt slightly awkward, considering his slave was that bit taller than he was. Nonetheless, an arm wrapped around Kurt’s waist, and he looked to him to make sure it was okay with him. “I’m sorry. That’s just how it is.”

“But what if I’m not being disrespectful or rude and they want to punish me because they don’t like me?” Kurt asked, frowning at the other. Kurt hadn’t long come to terms with his situation and with how he and Blake were now actually getting along, he was more likely to comply with whatever Blake said because he thought  that anything like punishments would just fall to him. He was starting to feel more like a person rather than being a slave. But knowing now that anyone who wasn’t a slave could punish him, he just felt like he was back to where he was and just felt like he was completely trapped. Kurt let Blake pull him in closer and rested his head on Blake’s shoulder as the other’s arm was around the shoulder so that it wouldn’t be as awkward for them. “I know.... but I still hate it.”

Blake stepped back and handed Kurt a coat before pulling his own on, zipping it up and smiling. “I know. But it’s not up to me. And if I know Quinn and Puck– which I do, they’ll take the opportunity to do it themselves if they have the opportunity. Like I told you, Quinn can be strict. She likes to be able to display her dominance because if you only saw her from afar, you’d think she was a slave.” He moved his arm, turning and smiling at the maid who opened up the front door for them. “Thank you. You have to kneel next to me, on the floor.”

Kurt quietly thanked Blake and slid the jacket on. He smiled slightly when Blake spoke about how Quinn was. He supposed that he couldn’t blame her. If he’d ever been privileged enough to be able to get a slave, Kurt knew that he’d want to do the same - he knew that people would automatically assume him to be a slave just from his appearance. “Still...I thought you would’ve had final say..considering you were the one who .. y’know, bought me.” Kurt smiled softly at the maid and followed Blake towards the door, and let out a small sigh “Okay...” He said, keeping close to Blake.

“I know”, he said quietly, his smile a little strained– he personally didn’t like having to force Kurt into acting like someone who he wasn’t, he knew perfectly well just how sassy Kurt could be when he wanted to. But he didn’t want to watch Puck or Quinn punish him either, “I can punish you for it, but another Master or Mistress is allowed to do so if the bad behaviour is aimed towards them, if that makes sense. If they didn’t want to punish you, I would have to do it. And I don’t want anyone punishing you.” Blake smiled, giving his arm a small squeeze. “Kneel beside me.”

Kurt returned a strained smile back to Blake, a little glad that Blake wasn’t particularly keen on him having to change who he was either. He wouldn’t be outright rude unless someone was to him, but sometimes, it just came out before he could think. “Yeah.. it makes sense.. I’d just much rather you were the one doing it.” He smiled wryly as Blake squeezed his arm and sighed. He was silent for a few moments before looking at Blake, “Is there any chance I could sit on your lap, or would I have to be kneeling next to you”

Blake figured the cry he elicited from Kurt got his message across and he gave a sympathetic smile, releasing his grip quickly enough but kept his fingers in Kurt’s hair, going back to scratching his scalp. He knew Kurt didn’t like his hair being messed up, but Blake would make sure he was presentable before they actually left anyway. “No, Kurt, I need you to guarantee it. If you’re sassy, disrespectful or rude, then I can’t stop Quinn or Puck from delivering a punishment to you. Trust me, they’re always thorough. I’m not saying it to be harsh, i’m saying it because it’s in your best interests that you do as I say, do you understand?”, he asked, placing a hand on Kurt’s bicep and running his thumb back and forth to try and make Kurt more at ease. “It’s not a long journey, only about 10 minutes.”

Kurt felt relieved as Blake let u on the grip on his hair, and leaned slightly into the other’s touch when he felt the other scratching his scalp again. He let out a soft sigh as he looked at Blake, and frowned slightly “I understand, Master, but I wasn’t saying that to be difficult. It’s asking a lot from me to do that because it’s completely change how I am, and there’s time when I don’t realise that I’m not being ‘appropriate’.” Kurt frowned a little further at the next thing he said about Quinn and Puck, before he crossed his arms over and looked down “I thought you were the only one who was allowed to punish me.” Kurt smiled softly when feeling Blake’s hand on his bicep and felt the thumb stroking across it. “Okay... will I be allowed a seat, or will I need to kneel down next to you on the bus?”

Blake spotted the eye roll, and a small smirk tugged at his lips. He reached across, threading his fingers through Kurt’s hair at the back of his head and lightly scratched his scalp, before giving his hair a tug. “No sassiness in front of them, either. No eye rolls, no pulling faces, no sarcastic comments or corrections”, he said as he looked up at him, his tone teasing and playful, but you could tell he was being serious. “Don’t worry, we’ll be fine. So long as you don’t speak and keep your head down, anyone that tries to cause trouble will get removed.”

Kurt gave a slight smirk back to Blake, and let the other run his fingers through his hair - he would just need to deal with it anyway, but he did trust the other enough to touch his hair now. Kurt relaxed slightly as Blake ran his fingers through his hair before crying out softly when the other tugged on his hair. He nodded slowly as he looked at the other, knowing that the other was being serious despite the joking tone. “I can’t guarantee anything.. but I’ll promise that I’ll try.” He bit down on his lip as he heard the other speak, because he didn’t know if that was possible. Kurt wasn’t about to just speak to random people but not speaking at all, if this included Blake unless it was only with permission, would be really hard for him “Okay...”

The fact that Kurt didn’t have much to day on the prospect of meeting Quinn made Blake feel slightly nervous– Quinn was probably one of his closest friends within their neighbourhood, and her other half, Puck, was a nice guy too. Once you got past the dramatic bad-boy exterior. “That’d probably be the best idea. And don’t be too wary of Puckerman. He’s all bark and no bite.” He nodded along to Kurt’s suggestion as they made their way down the stairs, and gave him a smile as he retrieved a coat for them each. “That’d probably be the best idea. We can walk to Quinn’s place from here, and then get the bus to the garage. And then go for groceries and whatnot.”

“He doesn’t sound much different from the guys at my old school then,” Kurt rolled his eyes but smiled softly. Kurt did sort of miss going to school but since he and Blake had started to be much more civil and actually started to get along as opposed to screaming at each other all the time. So, it was starting to make up for the fact that he was a slave - nothing ever would but him and Blake not hating each other definitely made things a lot better and something that made Kurt enjoy living with Blake. “The bus? Are you sure we’d be okay?” Kurt asked, knowing that some people could be rude whenever it came to slaves in public.
