HOT TAKE BUT: I fear too many people need to remember that hockey players are athletes, not politicians or activists. They play a sport. THAT is their job.
A trip to the White House will always be seen as an honour to them whether they like who’s in office or not.
Canadians have gone if they’re on American teams, players from different North American League’s have gone, basketball, football, baseball, EVEN POC have gone, with said president in office!!! No matter WHO is in office, it’s seen as an honour, and it’s been happening for a LONG time. Yet it’s the USA hockey team that’s consistently demonized for it.
AND for the joke, yall know they were drunk, high off a win and just overall having a good time, most people laugh at ANY AND EVERY thing while drinking. Many people do stupid things drunk, I know I have and probably you too! Whether it’s laughing at a bad joke, kissing a 40 year old man, or getting pregnant with a strangers kid. Nobody is perfect while drinking. You aren’t either.

Babes, many Canadians drabble in American politics, they’re your neighbours, it would make more sense for a Canadian to care about the states then a random ass country on the other side of the planet. And Canada isn’t exactly the liberal heated rivalry-esque place many think it is. Conservatism is heavily on the rise there so it shouldn’t be shocking that a straight, white, rich man would lean that way politically.
90% of these men are rich, white and conservative, they will never have the same political leaning as you, even some players that are POC, Canadian, European will more than likely lean conservative. The very small minority of liberal players will probably forever be the small minority of liberals.
i know it’s hard to grasp but hockey isn’t the woke Olympics. I know it’s tough for some people but just have fun ffs, and if a sport you claim to be a fan of makes you this mad constantly, find something else to watch.
And no, I’m not a ‘pick me’ I’m not asking to be picked, I’m just stating common sense. I’ve grown up around hockey players, fans, games, etc, since before I was even talking, walking etc, and if you were too you would also know this is ALL common knowledge.
