Swimming Saga
And the adventure continues. I think this swimming stuff may just be what I need. Exercise and no chance to break any more bones. But of course today in the outdoor pool is perfect. 87 sunny degrees and it's November. Wahoo.
My last day at work… Later b*#!%@s
How exciting. Moving on to new adventures.
Never to old to learn something new
So my training partner who is 15 years younger started swimming a whole lot faster. WTF?. We used to swim great together, ah she hired a coach and she has really improved, hmm... So I contact the coach and she can do just swim, not bad, I can afford that. So I've had one session and my speed increased by 50%. Wahoo.. So now I am finally getting the hand of this water stuff. It's only taking me 4 years of struggling in the wet stuff. Thus I have reached the conclusion, you are never to slow or to old to learn. Let's see what the next session holds...
Amazing daughters
My daughters are amazing. They are independent and can think for themselves. They know how to solve problems. I am one lucky woman.
Older and faster
My short runs are getting faster. Wahoo. And I'm getting older at this rate I'll run a sub 5 when I'm 90
Old Person
It's official. I have applied for Social Security and Medicare. What's next? The old folks home? That will be after a couple more marathons and an Ironman. I am having too much fun at this age.
Swim Buddy
Today was a give back day. I volunteered to be a swim buddy for the Mission Bay Triathlon. It was great, except for getting up ay 4:30 am. 4 years ago I thought I needed a swim buddy, but I swam faster than my buddy, it was ok. He gave me confidence I could do this and have fun. Today my swimmer swam off on her own. She did great. I than went over to people floating on their back and swam and encouraged them. One lady was really tired, she says I came out of nowhere and she appreciated the company. She also finished her swim. Great day. Maybe swimming is not that bad.
Back in the gym
Remind me never to race during September. It’s my month for bronchitis/pneumonia. I tried to run a few times. Not recommended when you’re choking/coughing and it just takes longer to recover. This has been going on 2 weeks Way to long. And I thought my next half marathon was going to be fast. At this rate ill be lucky if I don’t need to stop for oxygen along the course. What a crappy way to end the race season. But it’s not over yet. …
Thank you my dear. I love you too. I'm holding off on the swim and bike. I'm just running right now. I've another 1/2 marathon in a couple of weeks.

"I don’t eat grains, dairy, or processed food" “I’ll take my coffee black” “Sorry kids I’m running a few minutes late I was making mayonnaise”

Yes. You are AWESOME. Good job on the lifestyle change. Thank you for showing me Paleo.
How to screw up your iPad in 3 easy steps
Just give it to an old woman who is of SS age and watch what happens. It took less than a week for me to break it. It's off to the Apple store for me today. The fact that my daughter had it for a couple of years and had no problem and she hands it down to me and I break it in less than a week. No sound no video no pandora I'm screwed
Combat Boots.
I love all things old. I am fascinated by the history and stories, often daydreaming about the people and places these items have touched and been. These boots. I saw them immediately as I walked in the thrift store, shelved next to a smelly pair of worn out running shoes. These are not your typical “combat boots” I thought, these are unique, different. They are not the trendy, punk rock boots you see the emo kids wearing. Looking at the sole, I noticed a stamp, BF GOODRICH, hmmmm, that’s interesting. Upon further investigation, and googling, I discovered these boots are 1950 era military issue combat boots. In awe, I decide to try them on…they fit! Do I get odd looks when people see me wear them? I don’t know, I don’t care. There is more to them then the worn, cracked, scuffed leather. I’m sure these boots have a fascinating story, if only they could talk. They are unique, mysterious, tough, and beautiful. Just like me.
Wow. Have fun and kick up your heels in your new antique boots.
9 mile run
Ok. This should have been easy. Last weeks 8 miler was a breeze. However, I think switching over to heavy weights in the gym, ok, they're heavy for me, definitely impacted the legs. And the bike ride yesterday with speed intervals might have made them a wee bit tired. Because the wheels fell off at around 6 miles. My pace was ok but wtf, I felt like the legs were 90 years old. So, the dilemma for next week is to figure out weights, cycling and a stronger run.
Easy day
Took time out to help a couple of young women do their first mini tri. Swam out a course for them and took them on the bike course for their upcoming race. They should have fun. I'd forgotten how short a sprint tri really was. And I thought a half ironman was short. I've come a long way from my first sprint. It's fun watching others get excited about the sport. Can't wait to volunteer for their race and watch them finish.
Too many races
I'm tired and I have sorta stopped training. This year has been 6 half marathons and 2 iron man events; a half and a full aqua bike. And I have another ironman in Oct. not doing that one. But it's suck it up Buttercup, you have one last half marathon and this one will be a fast one. Running has started to get back into the groove and I'm faster. So it's time to stop whining and get next years races lined up. Maybe a few less races. Live and learn.
To the strong women in my life, Thank you for teaching me strong doesn’t need to be harsh, confidence is not arrogance, and strength is sometimes most evident in a broken frail vessel. To my grandmothers, I admired your strength as mothers and wives, building a strong home and safe haven for your...
I admire your courage and strength to step out on your own to raise and support your children. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for you. Yet, you are such an encouragement to others. I'm so proud of the woman you have become.
