anyone have any tips in spotting overstimulation BEFORE a meltdown? putting this in the autism tag but i suspect i experience overstimulation related meltdowns for multiple reasons, so any input is appreciated. thank you!
I have trouble spotting this stuff myself (late dx doesn’t help). For me personally, I seem to suffer a spike in vulnerability to stimuli. Audio is louder, visual stimuli feels like too much, etc. It feels harder to think and my anxiety increases. I also get this impulse that I need to escape/leave. Depending on the situation my PTSD probably also doesn’t help. I think the most consistent warning for a meltdown for me is my brain/gut/instinct telling me I need to get out of the situation.
