jerry, former drummer for a jefferson airplane cover band, is seen practicing on his newest drum set in the heart of washington's chinatown. an original washingtonian, jerry spent most of his life in the music industry bouncing from band to band. he does possess an incredible drumming talent. the bad news, jerry is not able to fully utilize his abilities, and is forced to cart his plastic drum containers and his cart full of belongings around the city to avoid the harassment by local business owners and authoritative figures. the good news, jerry does perform on the streets for enough money to support his daily habit of chain-smoking cigarettes.

space is a fascinating frontier. the feat of launching an object into space, manned or unmanned, should be appreciated by all. observers travel from all over the globe just to see one launch. meanwhile, the locals in florida's space coast may have seen hundreds of shuttle and rocket launches, and yet are still as amazed by the incredible sight, as if it were their first viewing. the conclusion of the most recent space program will change the lives of millions.

sleep is not essential to dream.

sleep is overrated, and for some, biologically unnecessary.

important moments can be missed when asleep, whether they are beneficially life-altering, or devastating changes, sleeping takes away from the time that could be put towards doing the actions that one loves to do. it's not worth it to miss out on the waking hours that can be spent with close friends and family, or meeting somebody new, or spent working a strenuous schedule to advance towards a better life, or expanding the mind with new knowledge, or feeling the adrenaline rush of doing a stimulating action like skateboarding or surfing, or visiting exciting locations.

have you ever seen the streets at 3 o'clock in the morning? so desolate, and serene. not a car to be seen for blocks upon blocks. only the uncovered black pavement with the occasional rat scurrying from one side of the street to the other, only to submerge itself in the nearest storm drain. with the streets that empty, no frantic pedestrians to dodge. no disobedient bicyclists to jump from their path. just peace and quiet. in such a large city, sometimes it is nice to feel that lonely.

so many possibilities, but none are physically possible when asleep.
