hearing the sins of his penitents was the highlight of his week. he should have an ethical moral when his penitents confess they have hurt someone, and he is always disappointed when he learns it is emotional hurt. becoming a priest was something he never dreamt of doing , but there were too many suspicions arising in new york city that he had to lay low for a while , and taking off to the sunset was his best choice for a break. glaring at the bible that lays on the ground in the confessional booth, he kicks the book and tuts when it doesn’t burst into flames. today’s sermon was about forgiveness ⸻ it was a prompt to plant guilt into the minds of those who were present in the church. the sound of someone coming into the confessional booth makes him more alert, and he waits a moment or two, ❛ welcome, ❜ he wonders who it is. he noticed that there was someone new but he had not got a chance to talk to her in the actual church. ❛ do not be afraid to penitent. no one will hear our conversations, no matter how sinful they are. ❜

religion . was she actually turning to religion ?! it started out as a joke , one that she had fully convinced herself she would be able to write off and never think about again . willa never wanted to become a stereotype . she had no intentions of turning her trauma into something to be proud of .

❝ forgive me ... father ... ❞ the word stings as it leaves her lips , her eyes still struggling to adjust to the sudden change of lighting after stepping inside the booth . willa clears her throat before shifting slightly to focus on the latticed opening between she and who she hoped was the one person who could give her the key to living a normal , structured life .
