sir that’s my emotional support story that I’ve been working on for five years that still has no conceivable plot
thought i’d make one of these just bc but
hi i’m robyn and i’m newish to writeblr/bookblr and i mostly post bookish stuff tho sometimes i post writing stuff and i’d rly like new people to follow so if you post writing and/or book stuff just like this post and i’ll probably follow you!!
(also sidenote since this is a sideblog i’ll be following off my main @widogvst !!)
Welcome to the community Robyn! I’m Ruth 💕
I’ve given you a follow and can’t wait to see the content you have in store for us! I hope you find the community welcoming
Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears except you’re in the forest at night with a flashlight, trying to find a jacket that you left on the path earlier today, when you hear it playing in the distance - probably from the radio of some campers, as you can see a warm light in that distance, too. You keep looking along the path and only stop when you think you hear wolves.
Writer all for one- supporting writers everywhere!
So, @eternalwritingstudent brought up a great point about support in the writeblr community, and lack thereof.
Putting your work out there is hard enough. But when you don’t get any response it can get really disheartening. Yes I know we’re not entitled to people’s likes and reblogs but when it happens it’s such a motivating feeling- something which isn’t seen or emphasised enough on this platform.
The writing community has always been about helping and supporting and motivating other writers, and that is trending downwards on tumblr. And I want to try and change that.
So I’m starting a #writerallforone - where writeblrs of all age and popularity can work together to support everyone and not just a select few.
I’ve opened my submissions for this very reason, and I hope other writeblrs will do the same. So if you have a piece of writing, a mood board or artwork etc you want to share, submit it (following guidelines,) and I’ll queue it up for you.
I’m also starting a #writeblrff - writeblr follower Friday, where you tag your favourite writeblrs for others to follow.
Will this get many notes? I don’t believe it will. But if even a few writeblrs join me, then we can start to make a difference. Please let me know if you would like to join me!
Please reblog to spread the word!
Uh, not to be controversial, but my WIPs are good actually.
types of fic writers #2
bullet points: the only thing you write is bullet point fic. or short fic. it’s good writing, it’s just never as long as you want it to be. you envy those who can write 50k epics at the drop of a hat. and they, in turn, envy you.
WIP Central: you last completed a fic in 2009. your folders are full of nameless fics crying out for attention. you cannot open them without a surge of guilt. in spite of this, you open another document, and begin another fic.
word counter broke: this one, you tell yourself, will be a measly 2k. it is not. you watch in creeping horror as the counter climbs first to 5k, then to 11k. you still have six major plot points left to go. the fic is expected to clock at 23k but knowing you, will reach 50k. you have a sequel planned. there is no end in sight.
error 404: I’m writing, you tell people, and you are. you post snippets on your blog. yet your ao3 fic counter is a firm zero. you never post anything. you crave validation. your finger hovers over the new work button. you close the tab.
This is so cool put in your url or your friends and it gives an mbti personality type based on your blog.
Hey guys, despite what’s going on with stupid tumblr, could you reblog this post if you’re a writeblr. Need to follow some again lol.
I’m minny-king, but since it’s December and the Holidays are coming, it’s time to be a tiny santa.
The best piece of writing advice I’ve read today - Writing never gets any easier but you do get better, exponentially. Once you really get into the swing of things and you keep at it, you’ll be surprised how much your stamina and skill increases. Consistency and determination are all that matters and you’ll get where you’re going, even if it takes some time.
it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.
Adding to this: Depending on your craft, and how you go about trying to make it into a career, you might need more than one skill set. Being an indie author means knowing how to write. But it also means knowing how to manage projects. It also means knowing how to put together a finished product. It also means knowing how to market. We’re talking about 4 very different sets of skills here. Forgive yourself if you don’t know it all at once.
Also, a little note for all writeblrs who stumble across this blog!
You are always free to message me.
You are always free to ask me about my WIP.
You are always free to ask me to look into your WIP.
You are always free to message me about things that are unrelated to writing.
You are always free to ask to be mutuals.
You are always free to tag me in content.
You are always free to create something related to my WIP; no need to ask permission to draw characters.
I really like writers’ process posts, like when it’s things like “omg i just figured out how to fix this scene” or “i can’t make this scene work but…” (and then maybe they figure it out a post later) or anything about what their OCs are currently up to in their WIP
I may not know or keep up with every OC and WIP but it makes me happy to see people working on their projects even if it’s just to vent about a frustrating character or scene. it’s still part of the process and it’s hard work and it’s beautiful how much time and effort and love writers put into their works
