Can we talk about this after the whole lethal shootout thing? Person of Interest S5E10: The Day the World Went Away
I’ve been rewatching Person of Interest lately (at S4 now, my god how I’ve missed this!) and I will forever lament the loss of PROPER tv shows.
And by proper I mean stories and characters that have had time to breath and develop in a natural and organic way, over the course of several episodes and several seasons.
The way each character was introduced, slowly and with intention, carefully embedded in the story, with a solid and logical background is something that I think is severely lacking in this streaming era.
Root, Shaw, Samaritan, Greer. They all came in slowly and never felt out of place or a weird and imposed addition.
8 episodes a season, are not enough. 1 season every 2-3 years is way too long of a wait. Axing shows after 1 or 2 seasons is a massive disservice to the story and us, the viewers.
I used to know these characters. To care for them. To love then.
Now I barely know them, or even care enough to wait for the next season to see how their story will unfold.
There are shows that I like now, sure.
But there isn’t any modern show that can hold my interest as much as the likes of Person of Interest, Fringe, Lost, and so many more did years ago.
Oh, how I hope we’ll have a tv show Renaissance era.
I didn't expect to obsess over Reunion this much, but here we are.
Look, I moved on from Chloe years ago (I preferred the Bay>Bae ending, but I like the idea of multiple timelines anyway). That wound has been loooooong closed, but this game reopened it again. Fucking hell.
This game brought back Chloe (and oh, how I have missed her!) and revived my dormant Pricefield heart, only to tell me this is the last time we'll be seeing these two together in a game.
I'm not ready to move on again just yet 😭😭😭

I have thought of one hundred reasons why you should come back. To fight the shape-shifters, to take care of Walter, to save the world. But in the end...you have to come back. Because you belong with me.
Some studies have suggested that reading fiction can increase empathy. But a perhaps even more surprising finding comes from researchers who discovered a short-term decrease in the need for “cognitive closure” in the minds of readers of fiction. In brief, the researchers write, those with a high need for cognitive closure “need to reach a quick conclusion in decision-making and an aversion to ambiguity and confusion,” and thus, when confronted with confusing circumstances, tend to seize on fast explanations and hang on to them. That generally means they’re more susceptible to things like conspiracy theories and poor information, and they become less rational in their thinking. Reading fiction, though, studies have found, tends to retrain the brain to stay open, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to sort through information more carefully.

I was someone on thread getting all pissy because they’re American and now a lot of non-Americans are mad at Americans for what’s happening in America and said people should be more compassionate and I’m like.
Dude. I grew up surrounded by American propaganda; I grew up hearing about Americans shouting about how they’re the greatest country in the World, the land of the free, they’re the Good Guys and everyone else either need saving or they are the Bad Guys and need to be defeated. The US “exported Democracy” for as long as I can remember.
So yes, I’m gonna get pissed and annoyed at a country that always felt superior and better than anyone and now is slowly descending into a fascist dictatorship who’s shitting on historical allies and threatens war left and right while bullying everyone else.
The anti American sentiment is quite strong this side of the world, and it needs to be even worse or we risk having some countries in Europe trying to follow on the same path (looking at you UK with your idiots flag shaggers Reforms voter and Farage fans).
You’re welcome 🧄

what if you were a LESBIAN and a HIVEMIND VIRUS from OUTER SPACE sent you a GENDERBEND of your OC to try and make you FEEL BETTER after your WIFE DIED and you CANT GET ANGRY ABOUT IT or 11 MILLION PEOPLE WILL DIE
and what if the HIVEMIND VIRUS from OUTER SPACE (who drink liquefied HUMAN CORPSES, by the way) purposely isolated you from ALL HUMAN CONTACT for A MONTH AND A HALF and then had the real life GENDERBEND of your HOTTEST OC start acting like your DEAD WIFE until you LEZZED OUT.
going through two lesbian heartbreaks within a year no wonder she had to get an atom bomb
We are so thoughtful, Carol. See?
Look at her. She looks... sad. Maybe she's a prisoner too. Stuck in the same cycle with us.

*takes a drag from an imaginary cigarette* I remember you knew you stayed up refreshing your dash too late when the Australians started posting
and now they're kicking the Australians off the site unless they post their ID's! It's ungrateful is what it is.
