We received $305 from you! I’m here to update that we have oral confirmation that somebody will cover the rest. I have a good feeling about it.
We still need funds for bedframes and a mattress + any other furniture / basic apartment items, so I encourage further donations if you feel like doing so, but it’s not currently life or death.
That being said, it’s an oral confirmation and there’s always a chance that that doesn’t work out as expected. Or that the landlord changes his mind so we’d need to pay for a hotel. But yeah that’s the update for transparency :)
Hi, right now we’re about 2 days from needing to move out and the landlord hasn’t actually guaranteed us the apartment.
Why? Your guess is as good as mine. The current plan if we don’t get the apartment is to book a long-term stay in a hotel while we work on finding another place, but that also costs money.
So any donations are appreciated. I have a job, but the hours I can work outside the home are limited due to being otherwise the aforementioned caregiver.
So the reason the landlord didn’t guarantee us the apartment was because he was still screening tenants. Despite having originally told us we were approved. Probably I should have seen that coming considering he had already backtracked on that. But still, like. C’mon man.
We’re not in as much immediate danger; the person who orally confirmed they’d help our security deposit is helping us pay for our current stay in a long-term hotel. Hopefully by the end of that we can have an actual Home.
In the meantime, I have a job, so we’re not Quite so fucked, but I won’t decline money people want to throw at us.
The first long-term hotel we were in kicked us out instead of letting us change rooms after we found a bedbug. Since then we’ve been in another long-term hotel, but I’m waiting on a refund from the first one to the tune of about $600, and as always, paychecks never quite stretch the way they’re supposed to.
This does screw us over more than anticipated so I’m jingling our cup a bit.
Ok hi I’m a little desperate I won’t lie. The refund is taking forEVER to come back to me. Um. And we’re supposed to check out tomorrow morning. So even like $50 would help loads.
Hi. I checked with the long-term stay hotel and since the Orkin people "didn't find any bed bugs" we probably won't get a refund. OP got photos with time stamps so we're gonna argue about it but money continues to be dire.
In better news, we've found a place to stay permanently that looks promising! So!! Maybe we can live there?? Fingers crossed
