Slime Science: The Bus and The Endless Roads.

This was originally going to be two posts but I felt they work well enough together that I'm combining them.

The Endless Roads are odd. As far as I can tell they're a series of dimensions that are all interconnected with each one having a few similarities:

They all have a single straight road

They are connected by tunnels with yellow lights

The time of day is consistent across all of them

They are Very long

Other than that, they are all unique in their landscapes. From cities full of neon lights to shadowy woods with strange creatures, there's plenty to find along the road. Provided, of course, that you feel like driving for long enough.

One thing I've found useful about the roads is that the areas they take up in Barrierspace (Barrier's Domain) is actually pretty close to several Points Of Interest, making it convenient for universal travel.

Of course, if you have a road, then you need a vehicle to drive on it, and that's where The Bus comes in.

The Bus is an old project I worked on in my spare time when I lived in Haikyo. It was an old 3-layer tour bus with an open roof that I modified. There are plenty of new features on it:

An autopilot to keep from crashing

Red Matter Engine to keep the bus running without fuel

The second floor was gutted and replaced with a common area/kitchenette.

The third floor has a lot less seats and storage for tents to sleep in at night

Enchantments to keep wind from blowing everything on the roof off when driving more than 15 mph

More enchantments on the overhead storage of the first floor to allow for the safe keeping of important items.

All of the seats on the first floor were replaced with better ones and can be pulled down to act as mattresses in case weather prevents sleeping on the roof

On top of all of these, I also installed a portal generator that can summon tunnels to and from The Endless Roads. Allowing for the easy travel of a large group to a large portion of the multiverse.

Slime Science: Runalongs

Have you ever looked off to the side while moving quickly and noticed some kind of creature following at the same pace? Then you've managed to find a Runalong!

Runalongs are very fluid in appearance, their features shift a lot in a manner similar to certain Beings. However, they do have certain aspects that remain constant.

They are very tall, about eye-level with an adult male human riding a fully grown horse (Their exact height can vary wildly, but this is a good average)

They move on at least 4 legs, often more.

They are covered in either fur or feathers on their main body. This appears to only be different between individual Runalongs, as I've never seen them switch.

They are pitch black, and light seems to have a prismatic effect when reflected off their fur/feathers.

They have wings, and can fly with them.

They appear to be vaguely cat-like in body structure, but their ears and tail change to different species often.

Runalongs are rather peaceful, as they tend to stick to a distance unless called. (I found a melody they seem to like) Their fur/feathers are very soft.

They appear to be rather protective of their young, but will let you interact with them if they trust you. (I'm fairly certain I might of been adopted by one, seeing as it keeps following me.)

I suspect they either have a connection to displacer beasts or Barrier (Confirmed, there's a Being ) as they have the ability to slip in and out of reality as they please. They tend to only follow for the duration of a trip and vanish when the travel is over.

All in all, Runalongs are very pleasant creatures. They simply want to move with others.

Slime Science: On the nature of Barrier

The barrier between realities, also referred to as Barrier, (Not to be confused with the Mt. Ebbot barrier)(too many things are called that) is a metaphysical construct that prevents universes from colliding with each other Barrier exists everywhere throughout a universe, usually flowing in veins that can pass through all matter. For the most part, it's an intangible substance, certainly makes researching it a pain. When Barrier is cracked or shattered, however, is when it gains a physical form.

Because of its properties of existing between universes, whenever Barrier breaks it creates a portal linking two points in reality. Most natural shatters create portals that close near-instantly, nowhere near stable enough to figure out where it leads. There are only a few resources that can break Barrier, but that info is considered classified. Using these materials, one can create a device capable of making stable portals, able to lead to particular points rather than random ones. A good example of such a device is my remote, which I use to travel the multiverse. Using Barrier portals has a side effect however. The way these portals form results in them being one-way, and you need to wait before you can go back the same way. I call this effect Space-Time Rebound, my friends call it inconvenient. Either way, to be able to return to a location, you need to either wait around 24 hours, or take a detour through 1 or more other universes.

Note: Barrier portals seem to have a strange effect on time dilation between universes.

Note 2: I really hope that there's no Being regarding Barrier, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

Slime Science: On The Nature Of Beings

The first thing you need to know about Beings is that they are Not the same as gods. A god can be considered master of a specific aspect, they have immense control of their element. On the other hand, Beings are the aspect, not something in control of the aspect. Beings have two major types: Aspects (e.g. Time, Magic) and Locations (e.g. Aarde) Aspects are almost always the more powerful of the two, and for the most part stay out of the business of mortals (Any sentient creature). This is good, as the full attention of an Aspect Being can obliterate someone. They embody an aspect of reality, and tend to have one per universe (Universe A's Time is a different Being to Universe B's Time). If necessary, they can mark a mortal as a beacon in order to be able to find them later. Time does this the most often (Incredibly Rare to happen, but they've done it the most) as it's the easiest way for them to find a point in history. If you see an Aspect Being and live to tell the tale, consider yourself very lucky. -------------------------------------------------------- Location Beings are less powerful, but more common. They embody physical locations, from cities to entire stars. They are also *Very* territorial and they lack the concept of collateral damage. If two Location Beings get two close to each other, they almost always end up fighting for territory. This can end in the death of one or both of the Beings. The major exception is if two Beings are Planet and Moon to each other, in this case, they appear to tolerate each other at worst. Location Beings tend to keep their territory in good condition, and can spend years working on the appearance of their home. Beings of both types (mostly Location Beings but not always) can, for lack of a better term, "adopt" a mortal into their territory. This usually ends in the Being trying to keep the mortal safe. Imagine a giant eldritch creature trying to mother you like a cat, that's basically what it's like. Beings can die, but it won't affect whatever they are tied to. Aspects will still run just fine and Locations won't wilt and crumble. After a while, a Being will reform, but unless they are one of the three major Aspects (Time, Death, or Magic), they won't keep their memories

As for why those three can keep memories, I'm afraid that's classified.
