I can't remember if i went much into detail about their relationship and it's currently TOO LATE for me to remember everything so if you want to know about what they were like ask me! I will explain everything and anything. As far as I can.
sorry for not posting for a while erm here are my Mayhem and Zuke Reference sheets for my Wreck and Rule AU.
Mayhems design is very focused on the details.
She wears brass knuckles as rings and the pendant of her necklace is a guitar pick that used to belong to Kul Fyra.
For her guitar I wanted to make it look more metal, more hardcore. Does that make sense?
For Zuke it's the Bandana and his bracelets. The bracelets were made by Nadia and he has yet to take them off. Mayhem doesn't know they're from her and didn't question it.
Zukes Bandana is made out of a ripped off part of Mayhems goolings shirt. She gave it to him to cover up a small scar on his forehead that he's self conscious about.
Zuke got that scar when he was still together with Nadia, when she threw his broken drumsticks at him. The scar is not that visible but Zuke hates it and the bandana helps him a lot with it.
Their relationship is very complicated to explain? They're not dating but act like it? There's no label on their relationship but there's definitely something going on... something homoerotic.
They met in or rather outside a bar. Zuke was there to get shitfaced, coping incredibly unhealthily with his past. It's been a month since he ran away and left Nadia, sleeping at a friend's place while looking for apartments he could afford. Mayhem was also in that bar that night, performing some of her songs with another guy she hired to play the drums for her. However Mayhem thinks this guy sucks and grows agitated and angry over time. They don't stay patient for long and turn around, smashing this guy's drumset with their guitar all while yelling at him. Mayhem gets kicked out while Zuke pays no mind. That guy was shit but there's better ways to resolve that problem that don't include vandalism.
Zuke leaves the Bar tipsy, not drunk and hears commotion from an alleyway. He goes to have a look and spots Mayhem sitting there, restringing its guitar and complaining about that drummer. Zuke walks up to her and only because he has nothing else going on, suggests he could be her next drummer. Mayhem thinks about it for a minute but agrees on it.
They meet again the next day, Zuke having all his stuff with him and Mayhem taking him with her to the sewers. Zuke moves into the cold and dark space and together they make it much more cozy.
They grow closer over time but don't want to put any kind of label on it. Mayhem is HIS guitarist and Zuke is HER drummer.
Mayhem finally feels like a normal person and not someone who gets stared at with weird looks. She's no longer alone and Zuke brings a sort of normalcy into her life that she really needed. (They're both not normal actually but we can ignore that)
At first they slept in the bunkbeds like normal, May on top and Zuke at the bottom. This quickly changed when Mayhem was woken up multiple times at night because Zuke was either having night terrors or bad Nightmares. Mayhem suggested she sleep on top of Zuke, like a weighted blanket, to give him more comfort. And it works! In a way. He still has nightmares he often wakes up from but it's less violent. May grounds him and he wishes he could pay it back on a way.
Their shared "suit" in this au was some cheap "rocker" costume with that leather jacket, Fingerless gloves and pants. They modified the clothing themselves to make it look cooler.
Overall they didn't change MUCH from canon when it comes to their personalities. Mayhem is much more vulgar and aggressive tho while Zuke is maybe a bit more miserable (i am putting him through the horrors)
I was so locked in for Yinus and Mamas designs. Very happy on how it turned out!
I purposefully made them match in many ways. Their heels, the rose pattern and the tie and brooch.
I made Mama be dark colored while yinu be completly light to have the whole black and white thing going on again that i mentioned in eves design. While Yinu is the charter she's always with her Mum and has her support so they basically both count?
The small watch Mama has was a gift from Tatiana as they are very close.
In my AU Yinu is still very spoiled but much more shy around people she doesnt know. She reacts to Bunkbed Junction the same but a lot more saddened when they destroy her piano. I mean they literally destroyed her entire life.
I actually wanted to design the NSRtists in a backwards order but 1010 burned me out so bad i had to do my favorite. I love Djs in game design a lot but i wanted him to look extra fancy for my au.
Redesigned Eve first because i had a lot of thoughts about her and Zuke, about their relationship and dynamic.
I want to talk about her outfit first, every detail has some meaning. The Black and white theme going on represents the Black and White view on music that she or rather NSR has. Metal and everything else bad, Edm good. The leg of her black and white shoe is supposed to look like a hand and represents Tatiana and her support while the heel is her own hand, showing that in the end she's still alone, still only has herself.
The eyes have the same colors as hers and move when she moves her own eyes. The gold jewelery and wings are inspired by biblically accurate angels. Tatiana is the CEO of nsr, which makes her the all mighty, Eve the second in command. Tatiana comes first, she's Eves Lillith if that makes sense?
I want to put NSR into a more holy light anyway, leaning into the Metal is satanic thing.
The arm rings with her hands on it symbolize that no matter how much she tries to get rid of one half of her, she will always be made up out of both and there's nothing to change that. She cannot be one without the other. The opening of her bodysuit is also in the shape of an eye. Just as a little detail. The long nails mean as an attempt to get things back that are out of her reach without help.
In my AU Eve is a lot more mentally unwell. She is diagnosed with bpd but doesn't take her medication. That she keeps secret from Tatiana.
Her and Zuke met in college like in canon, Zuke then moved in with her after college. Nadia was rich and used that to spoil Zuke, getting him all the equipment he wanted or needed. In return he just had to love her. They would go to a lot of parties together and seem like the perfect couple outside. While at home Nadia would love bomb and guilt trip Zuke into staying. He didn't want to leave, he did love her at first.
Zuke is the type of person who bottles his emotions up and doesn't communicate. Whenever his drumsticks or other equipment broke, he'd simply put it on the counter for Nadia to see and get new ones for him. It always bugged her and she complained about it to him but he wouldn't stop. It got so bad that one time she was so furious she stormed into his studio room and threw the broken drumsticks at him, not thinking about it out of anger. One of the splintered ends scratched his forehead making him bleed there. Nadia immediately apologized, explaining she'd never hurt him like this. But she kept lashing out on him whenever something happened. Zuke wasn't the best person either. He often ignored her and didn't communicate about the problems he was having.
After she set zukes hair on fire during a show, Zuke runs and grabs all the stuff he can carry that Nadia got for him. He crashed at friends places before meeting May in a bar. Nadias fire stunt is also the reason why Zuke wears his hair down and a bandana. Although the bandana is an idea by may to cover up the small scar on his forehead.
There's a specific song that fits Nadia and Zukes relationship pretty well. It's Gethsemane by Sleep token. The lyrics fit incredibly well.
Some more May and Zuke doodles from my au because its constantly on my mind. I'm in the process of designing the other characters for the Au. While i didn't actually want to redesign them, since they wouldn't have changed much, i still wanted to make it more opposite of Metal? I'll give the NSR artists more of a light color palette to make them seem more uhh holy if that makes sense. This is playing into the stereotype of metal being satanic.
Back to may and zuke, their relationship in this au is complicated. They're like...dating but also not really? They don't put a label on it.
My friend got me big into No Straight Roads a few months ago and I've been playing it and thinking about it the entire time. I think i finished the game twice now. Whateverrrr here's my metal band au, Wreck and Rule or WaR for short. One day I'm gonna draw full body refs for May and Zuke.
