Cole's mom got sick because she was in shintaro with the geckles and munce for way too long and got overexposed to Vengestone. Normally in small amounts or for short periods of time it just gets an elemental master a little queasy, but Lilly was in an environment with a lot of it for who knows how long. The ninja actually all get pretty sick after Master of the Mountain (and zane starts glitching) and Cole basically has a mental crisis because he recognizes the symptoms a little too well

ok now i have to type out the explanation for how it works in my oni-curse au. Where the oni are really just people who've been cursed to eat humans. It's kind of like a modern Au. Except Morro gets the horror story cool guy parts
Morro's emo origins
In the AU Morro's original parents were devoured by oni, he was then adopted by Wu. He lives with him for a few years and then runs away after an argument with Wu.
He is then found by oni, torn apart and eaten to the gristle. His remains are found by the Pre-Eminant, she gathers his remains but leaves his bones behind. Using one of her own ribs, she creates a new skeleton for him and brings him back to life. He wakes up an abomination: half human, half oni and cursed incorrectly. He must consume humans but cannot feel his own hunger, he is unable to change his form.
He spends his resurrection living under her control and directive. He only lives because of her, and without her magic keeping him alive, he'll die again. If she orders him to bring him humans to devour- he'll do it, and when she asks him to bring her the newest abomination (Lloyd), it becomes his newest mission, but not without the bitterness that he has no choice at all.
The Pre-Eminent
She is extremely old and very strong. She chooses to look the way she does because it's been so long since she was first cursed. She provides human food to 1/3 of the oni population in Ninjago city. Her ranks consist of oni she rescued from starvation. She still dreams like a human and hopes to one day become the most powerful oni in existence.
Because she rescued and semi-raised Morro, she sees herself as something like his mother. The curse is a just another rule to her and she likes to bend them. Using magic to create abominations like Morro.
Story wise she functions like a gang/cult leader. Morro as her right hand man. They both serve as the main villains
Design wise, uhhhh she's balding because bald ppl scare me,(srry barbie) Because the canon Pre-Eminent is just a big worm with a mouth, her veiled design reveals only her mouth, DONT COME AT ME FOR THE COLORS IM TRYING OK also also she's super sexy or something idk, she'll change later
also for morro i didn't realize it until i was in my car, he just looks like if terry mcginnis and Casey jones had a baby ??
AND ANOTHER THING ABT LEVITICUS... i haven't seen this talked abt yet, but did anyone else get reminded of orpheus and eurydice when they watched leviticus??
ESP the scene where the mill was on fire and ryan calls out naim's name and naim turns bc what if... that's lit eurydice being in hell and her calling out for orpheus and orpheus looking back despite him being warned not to bc his lover called for him! his lover who he's been grieving all this time! i couldn't blame naim for always going to the entity with this in mind bc aaaaggghhhhhh he's in love and he misses ryan and he wishes he can apologize to him. it's soooooaauurr beautiful !!! 😿
smth that haunts me but also gives me hope is that ryan and naim have access to the internet and have seen articles criticizing the very thing they're dealing with in their small town. speaking as someone who's had similar exps of feeling isolated but finding community on the internet when i was discovering my sexuality, it's such a bittersweet thing! on one hand, they're seeing evidence of queer ppl being able to live happy lives out and proud, but on the other hand, it prob causes dissonance within them bc they know others just like them can b happy yet they continue to b hunted by homophobia personified.
i do believe they will get out of it, and they'll live a happy queer life with no entity chasing them! like i said in my previous post, they'll learn to accept it and thus make it weaker. 🙏
did not have an anxiety attack like the first time but i did sit there staring at nothing for a bit after the film ended! i appreciate the scene where its revealed to ryan and naim that it takes the form of who they're most into bc oofuuwhgj the way they get awkward and avoid eye contact with each other😭😭 theyre so teenagers in loooovvveee !!!! :((
i'd like to believe that the entity will stop attacking ryan and naim bc it seems like when they show it love rather than fear, it stops. even if it's just for a brief moment.
Morro in my au except he gets the horror story parts
he's got like issues or whatever, some lady (pre-eminent) replaced his bones and he has to work for her or she'll turn his bones off and he'll die. Trying something new because i got too lazy to figure out how to color it.

Love the idea of Kai and Nya thinking their names are smith because Kai was 5 when their parents left so he had no idea what his surname was but he knew his family were blacksmiths so it just kind of stuck
