As the brunet man that sat across from her pointed to the entrance, the twinkling bell rang out at almost the same exact moment. Ruby eyes looked over her shoulder, and sure enough, there he was. The guy in question she was looking for. Luckily he seemed to be doing much better than he was the last time that she laid eyes upon him. Gone was the drunk, fumbling, star struck talking mess, and here walked in almost an entirely different person.
This one was really different, wow. Sure still had the same handsome looking face but this one had the walk, the talk (even though the obvious shot of australian outback was much more subtle and softly peppered in his word) and boy did he have the jawline that resembled that of a greek god.
The blonde pondered for a moment, it was her day off … a girl’s allowed to have a little fun isn’t she?
After settling herself onto a stool, she turned her attention back to the bartender across from her. What a strange new occurrence, very rarely did she make her way so far out of town, especially to another bar, so usually when she drank she only ever poured her own from behind the counter. “Hi sweet thing, Chase? Was it?” She cooed in a polite tone. “Would you mind getting me a long island? Double up on the tequila in that if you don’t mind ♪.”
He only nodded and went about his drink making, unsociable was … quite the uncommon trait in a bartender but she supposed she couldn’t judge the guy. Dealing with drunk patrons night after night after night, is exhausting, and she was sure he was used to the same sort of evening that she was.
“Hey Kase!” Kevin responded to him in a cheerful manner, patting his back as Kasey held onto his shoulder and pulled him close. “Nah, great timing actually I just walked in. I was chatting with this girl here who seems to know you, and you’ll never guess what she has!” The man laughed, knowing how Kasey had been a mess the past two weeks without his wallet, causing Kevin to have to pay his tab on many more times than one occasion.
When the man’s voice directed itself toward the blonde, her deep blood colored eyes directed their gaze toward him, taking a lingering look over him as her crimson lips turned upward in a bit of a playful type manner. “Hi’ya stranger ♥.” She spoke sweetly as she winked at the man, unsure if her nickname for him would bring back any sort of drunken memory, but honestly she was more than used to this.
Before she had the chance to say anything else, Chase had set the drink she asked for beside her. In an elegant sort of motion, she slipped a bill from the man’s wallet she had been holding onto and passed it to the strawberry blonde across the counter. “Keep the change.” She spoke. “Seems like you’ve had your fair share of run ins with guy, so it’s a decent enough tip.” After he took the bill from her, she slipped a straw into her drink and began to stir it thoughtfully. She looked back to the two brunet men. “I thought you at least owed me a drink.”
With that she tossed the leather wallet right into the man’s hands, laughing lightly as she did so. Now leaning back in her bar stool, the girl allowed her white cardigan to fall from her shoulder. “You know, I’m actually pretty relieved. If you did remember me, I would have lost the bet and would have had to run away with you. Hm, shame.” She finally took a sip out of her drink, crossing one silky leg over the other as the skirt of her red dress draped against them in a sultry manner.
She adjusted the straw in her drink before greeting the men directly. “My name’s Eve, bartender from Flowerbud village. But you sweetheart,” A laugh escaped her as she felt the need to tease the more squeamish brunet beside her. “can call me Evie if you want ♪. Though I’ve got to pass along a little advice.” She spoke in a bit more serious tone as she sat a little straighter, pushing a strange of her long blonde hair behind her ear. “You should really put your phone number in that wallet of his Kevin, would have made this whole ordeal a lot easier.”
Kevin now, very not used to dealing with women of Eve’s caliber, was left a little speechless at her suggestion. “Uhm, y-yeah I’ll have to do that. I didn’t even think of that. Nice to meet you Eve.” He blinked, before looking to his friend for even a little bit of familiarity in his face, before turning to the bartender as well and distracting himself from the conversation. “Hey Chase, can I get a gin and tonic—”
Eve couldn’t help her light laughter, perking up slightly before looking to Kasey as she patted the jean jacket beside her on the counter. “Your drunk self is really incredibly chivalrous, I brought back the jacket you had leant me. But I figured you’d be more concerned about the wallet, I hope it hasn’t been too much trouble without it.”
She reminded him so much of the angel from his dreams; beautiful, stunning, and a voice of a siren. Her voice, flirty and calling him, beckoned him to fall more of her charm. Thank Goddess that he didn’t remember that night in Flowerbud, because if he did remember he may have not have the cocky confidence to stand in front of her and flirt back a little harder.
“Hey Kevin,” Kasey began, his eyes not leaving the blonde in front of him. How could he stop looking at the angel from his dreams and awful memory? Here she was, standing in front of him. “Lemme guess, she had a good night with me or something?” Kasey teased towards his friend. Okay, shut up Kasey, no one cares. He completely ignored his best friend, hands his wrapped around the smaller brunet’s body as he stared enamored at the blonde beauty queen in front of him.
The way she spoke, sauntered, and asked for the drink made a part of Kasey’s awful memory revert back to that night two weeks ago. How a barmaid had spoken to him, how she held him as they walked somewhere under the cool crisp night sky. The way she moved her hands, taking the money out of his wallet, reminded him of a devil though. A little, seductive devil that Kasey’s eyes couldn’t stop glancing at. The way she teased seemed like they were playing a game; a game the farmer couldn’t lose.
Eve, the name of the angel who saved his past drunken self from sleeping in the middle of nowhere. Eve, the name of the devil that was seducing him right here.
“Eve~” Kasey cooed back, drawling out her name a bit longer. He didn’t care if his money was being spent, nor if she was giving Chase a hefty tip. A part of him thought hey, she deserved to spend his money after holding onto his wallet for so long, while another part of his brain just was not comprehending that hey, that was his wallet because it was too busy remembering his name. “So, Eve is the name of the angel that saved my ass? Man, what would I do without you, angel?” As Kevin squirmed from embarrassment under his arms, Kasey continued.
“So, you must be the angel I’ve been dreaming of lately. Strange, I thought that was just a dream. But if you still want,” Kasey sang, “you can escape with me. I’m sure the Goddess wouldn’t mind if I took one of her angels and brought her to my farm. I know you said yer a bartender, but I’m starting to think you’re an angel in disguise.” Kasey winked at her, his cheeky grin staying on his face. Who cared if Kevin was getting uncomfortable from all of this? Or if Chase was audibly gagging at everything that came out of Kasey’s mouth... or if this was the third time he’d use that pickup line in a similar way.
As Kevin turned over to the chef, asking for a drink, the farmer reminded that hey, he was the only one who didn’t have a drink yet! How unfair! “Hey Chase, make that two gin and tonics.” Kasey interrupted as he held his friend even harder on his grasp. It wasn’t like he meant to hold him so close to him, he just was absentmindedly holding him harder and harder.
Oh! Kasey’s eyes widen, his smile fading into an o-shaped. “Oh! Hey! That’s where it went!” He let go of his business partner, picking up the jean jacket into his hands. A smell hit his nose, even though it wasn’t even close to his nose. What was that sweet smell coming off his jacket. What the hell? It smelled like a flower or something, more mature than any of the perfume that Luna or Renee used. A hint of some kind of spice came off it- okay, seriously, why was he focusing so much on the smell of his jacket? Was he a dog or some shit? “Thanks! Honestly, it hadn’t been too stressful for me. But, I’m glad I got to give this to you if it meant I got to see ya again~”
