Something that feels like a hot take on the internet right now which really really shouldn’t be: if you don’t have anything nice to say about the thing, don’t say anything at all.

You don’t have to like it. It’s not for you and it doesn’t need to be. It doesn’t need to be to your taste. It doesn’t even need to be objectively good. Very few things are universally beloved and that is okay. Nobody is forcing you to engage with it and publicly share your opinions. Just move on and let the people who are having fun with it enjoy it.

Other people having fun with something is not that deep. If it’s not for you then you don’t have to join in. You sharing your distain doesn’t do anything but make people who are enjoying themselves feel bad about that. You can just ignore it and walk away. Ignoring it and walking away is always an option if it doesn’t make you happy.

#called for me once when I was 6 1/2 and fell off a ladder and directed my sister through making a call when our dad died #(I was 100 miles away on speakerphone from her mobile while she made the call from the landline. not a fun experience)

Can I ask you a question? Would you consider uploading all your fics to your AO3 account?

They’re on there? I think the only things that aren’t are the dance au bits and the station 19 being human au, none of which are exactly proper fics. I actually have more fics on my AO3 than on here, and what I do have on both (which, let’s be honest, only really applies to found au), is actually more developed over there.

Your confusion may come from the fact that I’m just really crap at uploading and I never finish anything, especially not completely to a standard I’m happy sharing, before my hyperfocus moves on. To upload every fic I’ve ever written over there would be a task and a half because there’s over 200 in my notes app alone, as well as several handwritten in old notebooks, and basically none of them are complete.

rory’s first TARDIS outing being Vampires in Venice in which he fights a mysterious organisation who mess with human perception manufacturing wives for a near-extinct alien species. rory comforting a father whose daughter is taken by said secret alien organisation, genetically altered until she is no longer quite human, eventually sacrifices herself to save the doctor and his redhead best friend, and cannot escape with them because she is too much a weapon to properly accompany them into the sunlight. rory failing to save a father who strikes a blow against the secret alien organisation by blowing up a strike force of their fighters just as, in exactly one season, rory will stand in front of a cyber fleet and watch it be blow to smithereens to get his daughter back even though baby melody is already lost forever…..

I’m definitely one of those things…

I like Will just fine, in the first few seasons he’s kind of got a “trying to do the right thing but it comes out all wrong” thing going on, and really, he’s the only main character in the show who ever faces any real consequences for his actions and demonstrates growth from it. I definitely find him a lot more bearable as the show goes on, as he has less to do with Natalie, and his dynamic with Stevie is genuinely one of my favourites from the series. But I’m not crazy about him as a character, I can take or leave him on his own, his relationships with Jay, Connor, Maggie, Stevie and Hannah are what make him compelling to me.

But Natalie can go fuck herself. I like the show so much more since she left and I got so mad when Will’s ‘happy ending’ was going back to her three seasons after it was made incredibly clear that she was super toxic for him.

So, yeah, I like Will well enough and I’m definitely anti Manstead/Natalie.
