What inspired you to make Xoxo Droplets? I love the concept, and it's so refreshing to see a game deviating from the norm.

Thank you! I’m so glad you like the somewhat unusual concept of the game, haha. Originally I just wanted to make a dating sim with a bunch of neat gameplay features. I knew that was going to be hard so I decided to make the plot as simple/basic as possible. Because of that I went with a school setting/no real story line.

When first working on the content it wasn’t about jerks or completely comedic (there was more drama and such). Characters like Everett and Shiloh had much more friendly/reasonable personalities. But then there were guys like Jeremy (who was always a brat) and Nate (who had many of the same hangups but he hid that from other people so he came across as easy to talk to). The more I worked on it, the more I realized that rather than making Jeremy/Nate more likeable I felt compelled to bring the other guys down to their level. Having jerky boys with a bunch of ridiculous personality issues was simply something I personally enjoyed. If I was gonna go to all the trouble of making this massive game, I figured it should be what I wanted. So most of the dudes, plus the MC, got major overhauls in personality and I ran with the concept from there. Since characters like that had no reason to interact with each other, I created the group plot line to put them all together.

I’m thrilled that in the end people were willing to give the game a chance and ended up enjoying those crazy boys.

Holy crow!! I’m so so excited that everyone is liking XOD so much!! For anyone who finds this, I’m Cal, the guy who voiced Jeremy, and I’m a TOTAL sucker for fanart of Jeremy! Things I’ve drawn in the last month or so. Top two are drawings of book characters from a series called Ghost Bird and the last one is a character from an otome game called XOXODroplets; that game currently has a kickstarter going if anyone is interested. Sidenote: The BG for the last one was made using a pre-existing photo I couldn’t find an original source for because it’s literally everywhere.

Another drawing of the fave from XOD (XOXO Droplets), an otome game made by the company @gb-patch​. They currently have a kickstarter going for XOD, and have already released a game called “A Foretold Affair,” that I believe is about $12.99. I’m really excited about the release for XOD, even tho I’m broke as heckie, but I am determined to buy this game somehow, someway. I wish I could support the kickstarter but again >.< not a dime to my name rn.
