genuine question! what is the implied hurt or discomfort in someone saying youre "just a friend" when clearing up confusion about your relation to one another? i say this when people have asked if someone is a partner when we're friends

On my end it's the "just". I know it doesn't come with any intend of diminishing the value of a friendship with a person, but it does carry an idea of "less than" / "no big deal" that bites a little sometimes, as someone who cannot feel any higher love than friendship, who values friendship above all human relationships (besides siblinghood maybe, 'cus I have the luck of having a great relationship with my siblings) and also had trouble making friends in childhood to begin with.

Like... Saying "no, we're friends" would be enough to convey the idea, I think, but that "just" always gets added and it's symptomatic of how friendships are seen as "lesser" in society compared to romantic relationships. Which... Yeah, they ARE seen as that, so I'm not surprised that language permeates and I don't expect it to change. It's just one little thing in a sea of little things, y'know.

my futile wish is for people to understand that "sex scenes in movies/TV don't have to serve the plot and can genuinely just be for pleasure" and "sex-repulsed people are allowed to complain about how rare it is for media made for adults like them to be something they can enjoy completely" are both true statements. unfortunately society hates both sex and people who don't like sex, so everyone gets far too defensive about any sex or lack thereof in fiction to actually have this conversation

We really need more aspec characters (and creators!) in the media. It’s so disheartening to see so few out there - I thought I’d start a list of all the characters I’m aware of (both explicit canon and head-canon/unconfirmed), mostly just to remind myself and anyone reading that characters do exist and to remind people to support these creators.

I feel like we need some good news to share politics wise. As of the end of june, it is now no longer a crime to sleep rough. People are now no lomher criminals in the UK for not having a bed to sleep in and a roof to sleep under. It may not be an end to homelessness, but its a step in the right direction of decriminalising it and thats important.

I’ve been waiting my whole life to find “the right person”. Or even just attraction towards a person.

Do you want me to just keep waiting forever? What about when I’m 80? Will you tell me to keep waiting when I’m on my deathbed?

I’m tired of tying my happiness to another person that I’m going to have to wait for indefinitely.

Sora had tried to bring Jay (post memory regain) to meet Arrakore, But Nya had to literally stop her without telling her about the events of Skybound. (Jay doesn’t remember them yet)

I really REALLY hope that if Jay meets Arrakore in canon he panics or freaks out in some way. Like Lego company drop the Jay Walka panic attack and my life is yours.

I don't need Lloykita to be canon.

I really don't. It's a great fanon ship, but it's got minimal romantic build up currently in show, and there's a ton of room to explore just the friendship between these two as well. There is richness in any kind of interaction you could give them, and I would be overjoyed for the show to explore any aspect they please. Obviously I do ship them, and wouldn't be opposed to them getting together in show, but I will not at all be disappointed if it doesn't happen. Friends are great. Deep soulful platonic bonds are amazing. Aroace Lloyd would go so hard. No matter how you slice it, the chemistry is great. I think the show should absolutely take the opportunity to have them interact, they would be fools not to, there is so much left to explore here, but most any direction they decide to take it in, I would love to watch.

HOWEVER...

Canon Lloykita does serve as an effective hedge against potential writers down the line deciding that Harumi's crystalized redemption was all it would take for her to now be an 100% good person and viable partner for Lloyd, and they should get together when they find each other again, and in that sense, yeah, maybe canon lloykita is a good move for the writers to throw down right now.
