11:30PM********PEOPLE ON PAUSE******(Montreal)
People On Pause are a band of Montreal-based contemporary musicians and multidisciplinary artists, originally hailing from the vibrant underground rock scene of one of Canada's best weirdo incubators, St. John's, Newfoundland. This trio of multi-instrumentalists produce their own records, videos and album artwork. As a live experience, People On Pause are literally in a constant state of flux; switching instruments mid-song and sharing lead vocal duties amongst all three members, they play psych-influenced madcap jangle pop which touches as much on free jazz and noise rock as it does the youthful abandon of classic pop.
10:30PM********THE ARTSY CHICKS******(Montreal)
The Artsy Chicks are a five piece instrumental band based in Montreal, Quebec. Their music explores a multitude of genres, ranging from catchy surf rock to sonic assaults of avant-garde free improv and noise. The band consist of Dominic Caterina and Juan Cruz on electric guitars, Mario Lombardi on electric bass and tenor saxophone, Zachary Scholes on keyboards and Corey Tardiff on drums.
10:30PM********YLANG YLANG******(Montreal)
Innergaze organic drones, stoner noise, ethereal, psyched tribal grlll, post-new-age, textures douces, bedroom lo-fi, landscape dreams. Brought to you by the folks at Jeunesse Cosmique.
Visuals by/par: Guillaume Vallée EN Graduated from Concordia University with a Major in Film Animation and MFA in Studio Arts - Film Production option, Guillaume Vallée is interested in radical forms of animation and analogue techniques as a way of considering the direct interaction between different mediums. His work is an exploration of materiality within the creative process. In attempts of creating a more complex relationship with his subject matter, Vallée makes use of cross-medium forms that range from camera-less techniques to optical effects and found-footage, often resulting in surreal and chaotic imagery. Vallée is now exploring the possibilites of magnetic video tape and creates hybrid video and performative work based on the materiality of these analogue supports. As a member of Montreal's artists collective Groop Index, he's activly involved in events organization that bring forward the idea of hybridity, acting as performer, installation artist and experimental film & video director. He's the cofounder of Organes Variables collective , founded in 2013 with french artists Marine Vergne Figliolini & Floriane Musseau. The main goal is the diffusion of work from emergents artists from Québec and France with a quarterly publication and distribution via different platforms. Guillaume Vallée's starting a PhD- Études et Pratiques des Arts at UQAM in the fall 2014.

ENGLISH Avec le soleil sortant de sa bouche was formed in Montreal in 2010 by Sébastien Fournier, Nasir Hasan and Jean-Sebastien Truchy, who were recently joined by Eric Gingras and Simon Quevillon. Borrowing from the repetitive aspects of African and Latino rhythms as a starting point, they steer away from cultural appropriation by turning towards avant-garde, contemporary and pop music to create songs that are uplifting and engrossing. Combining conventional instruments and live electronics, the group’s music, cyclic and trance-inducing, allows for abrasive elements and treated vocals to come into the mix with an evolving energy. The band has become well known in Montreal as a thrilling live act: Drums, two guitars, electric bass, synthesizer, live electronics and vocals, the band fills the venue with tangible electricity. Hints of afro-beat, (post)punk and no wave music fuse into a unique sound that hypnotizes and engages the crowd. Last year the band was invited to perform alongside legendary composer Rhys Chattam for the 2013 edition of the Suoni Per Il Popolo Music Festival.

ENGLISH "Do you like your ’90s wall of sound shoegaze nostalgia served up with a spoonful of psychedelia and generous helpings of modern day dreamy West Coast Warpaint-style vocals? Then you’ll love Montreal’s Femme Accident." - pop montreal
*********************************************************
21:15(9:15PM)***GOLDEN TOMBS***(Montréal)
Golden Tombs: spaghetti-western, orchestral, dark folk, epic are great words to describe this music. Jim Demos, aka Hellenica, SMOSAN series director, collaborates with composer Alex Janusz to create an album worth of psychedelic spaghetti-western that would not be out of place in a Jodorowsky film. They will be showcasing some compositions from a soon to be released full length album.

ENGLISH Originally from the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, now based in Montréal since 2005, Jessica has been honing her craft for the past 10 years. She completed a BFA from Concordia University in 2012. Her work stems from a curiosity about people and interpretation of the environment in which we live. She often roams through urban settings seeking out tranquil moments in the outer edges and lesser-known quarters to create photographic studies of nature, quiet portrayals of the cityscape and portraits of people around her. Through imagery, Jessica explores the dual relationship of how we inhabit and interact with our surroundings, along with an interest in those specific moments when the ambiance resonates within, while the mind wanders and becomes a part of the setting. ******************************************** $8 à la porte/at the door.

Dam Ships draw from the wreckage of lo-fi basement tapes and tiny apartment jams to craft dynamic songs as memories of our former lives. "There’s a feeling that you get when listening to Montreal’s Dam Ships, like you’re about to stumble upon something great or you’ll achieve some sort of clarity in your life." - Grayowl Point (Laura Stanley) "Dam Ships is a Montreal four-piece with synergy. The three instrumental tracks on their self-titled EP are those you wish to spend your whole day playing over and over ... Buy their album, get off the computer, and go spend the rest of your day- or even just a few minutes of your day- doing something worth-while. Have one of those moments where you get up when it's done, and all you can say is "hell yes"." - Indecent Xposure (Isabella)

Using X amount of Fuzz and Y amount of Reverb, they're hoping to open a dialog with outer space. They also don't really care if pundits were to question the actual scientific value of their methods… They really don't.
