Mental Health Statement

Not really how I wanted to start my tumblr return, but it is what it is.

I wont be naming names here and I ask that no one else does either. Someone in our community has made a public statement claiming that if you have mental illness, you are “completely on your own” and that no one will support you when you are going through the hard times. I feel bad for what they have claimed they are going through and my heart is with them, but this, in my opinion, is NOT an okay statement to make to an audience/community who has a large number of people afflicted by various flavors of mental illness (including myself). This kind of belief, especially being pushed by someone you respect, could lead to very harmful thoughts and actions and I have been shaken to my core to see it so recklessly stated as a fact. Ive been in that state of mind before and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.

If you are going through something and need someone, please know that there are people who will listen. That there are people who care. That you are NOT completely alone. If you need me, feel free to message me. If you are also available to those who need you, feel free to reblog this.

Stay safe, my friends. I love you.

Do you wanna add some proof along with that statement about snake discovery? Cuz that's a pretty serious claim

In this video about when and how to euthanize snakes, there is a segment near the end where Emily talks about snakes with disabilities and when it’s not necessary to cull. On my first viewing I thought this would be the perfect chance for them to bring up the spider wobble. The guy in the video brings out what looks like a spider morph BP with her tail chewed off. He goes on to say that she has “had a few clutches” with him already.

Later in the video, Emily shows off some young BPs that I can only assume the guy bred himself, including this axanthic spider.

Admittedly my initial post that they completely support the breeding of spiders may have been a bit presumptuous, so I will remove it. As far as I know, there has been no discussion about the spider morph on the channel thus far, save for this. Truthfully I don’t know what their stance is on the breeding of spiders, but her avoidance of bringing up their neurological issues when already discussing disabled snakes seems a bit fishy.

Also not interested in Pettuber discourse, but Emily has, in fact, mentioned the issues with not only spiders, but also other morphs( including ones in other species with similar issues). Theres enough hatred in this hobby as is without jumping to conclusions. Especially when the only evidence was 'she featured someone *elses* spider ball in a video'.

Every year I think I can watch the GSDs at Westminster. Every year I am wrong. 😢

I got 20 minutes in before I snapped these screenshots.

This dogs jock is entirely on the ground. The camera was at a bad angle so I could t tell if he moved this way but he definitely shouldn’t stand like that, even in an extreme show stack.

Here you can see the dog on the left standing how he stands normally (not stacked) this is why GSDs are stacked in a three point stack. Their hips and hind legs are so angulated that they can’t stand normally. You can also see on the dog in the middle that their legs are angled out from their bodies at an uncomfortable degree.

The fact that anyone thinks this is normal appalls me. Before anyone says that GSDs were meant to be like that, here’s a picture from 1915. *gasp* It looks like a dog!

Okay so. Yes, the AKC show line GSDs are extreme. But lets please, PLEASE not confuse 'old' or 'original' with 'better'. That last dog shown? That dog is horrendous. Not just as a GSD, but as a dog. His shoulder angulation is weird, to say the least. His rear is extremely straight, making his front and back halves super, SUPER unbalanced. He also has almost no bend of stifle. He is ewe-necked, meaning his neck comes out of his body at an odd, upward-arched angle. If he was on level ground, his hips would be WAY higher than his shoulders. So in the end, what this dog is is an extremely poor example of an extremely poorly bred dog(of any breed). He could not have gone out into the field and dont his intended job(herding livestock). And even if he could manage a loooong day out in the field being a working farm dog without being in intense pain or simply giving up due to exhaustion, this is a dog who wouldve 'broken down' and been unable to continue his life as a working dog very early on in career. TLDR: if you are going to use old GSD pics to prove that they are """ruined""", please pic a half decent animal.
