Completed earlier this week for the ArtBar “Obsession” show in Aurora IL. The background and black/white part of the scale are oil paint. The dial was made in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, printed on a digital press, then cut out and glued on. The “Hello my name is” sticker is a real sticker with some distressing done and an airbrushed shadow.

If you know me, you probably know that my first wife died from complications caused by a lifetime of eating disorders. She would weigh herself 5 to 10 times a day at minimum. So when I thought about the theme of obsession, the scale was one of the first things that came to mind - the way that number became her identity.

I ended up destroying that scale with a hammer.

I hope this one has an impact on those who need it.
