private and semi-selective. this blog is 18+ only, with 21+ being ideal, and may portray themes of addiction (ludomania), gambling, abuse, and dehumanization. imagery features snakes (particularly the snake in eden), faustian bargains, and the devil.
i do not condone any kkg-typical sexualization nor incorporate it in my portrayal. my default verse is post-canon and ages yumeko up to 21+ — this is solely to remove her from the limitations of her original setting, so don't be weird.
one / in general ❣ — i generally consider myself to be semi-selective. i follow writers who show basic etiquette and tend to write para/multi-para replies. one-liners break my brain if they're not "shenanigans" because if i don't narrate i explode. i admittedly do have a personal "vibe check" beyond this, but it comes down to whether our storytelling styles might mesh and is not an indictment on you as a person nor your skill as a writer.
i am very crossover-friendly! yumeko's home verse being based more or less in reality makes her easy to drop into most settings. i'm also usually happy to spin up dedicated AUs for a plot. her family and time at (+ the existence of) hyakkaou are immutable for any verse that features 'modern society' as they're linchpins in why she's Like That.
my portrayal is primarily post-canon and has yumeko pick up the jabami 'family business' of running gambling dens. hers is fronted by a game parlour! of course though the importance of this den varies from plot to plot and may even be a complete aside in some threads.
activity is low-to-medium. i try to write something somewhere at least weekly, but my energy fluctuates. i'm coming off an extended periods of Duress™ that wrecked my sleeping habits, and i work full time. ideally i'll be more consistent once i stop needing midday naps but uhh sleep inertia is a beast.
two / etiquette ❣ — yumeko is very observant, so i'll likely use any diegetic context clues you write/narrate if she could reasonably perceive them and you are welcome to do the same. that being said, i will not humor ooc mind games. "big brain plays" should be discussed beforehand because i will not have in-character events become a weird meta battle of wit. standard etiquette regarding godmodding/metagaming/etc applies. you know ‘em.
i operate on a mutuals-only basis for all in-character content, but i also don't demand that we write in order to be mutuals. sometimes you and a moot are just friendly neighbors who wave at each other from across the street and that's okay.
if my askbox is open i am always accepting sentence prompts regardless of when i originally reblogged them. but also i'm here to participate in the collaborative writing hobby, not just do writing exercises, so i do encourage you to turn these interactions into threads at least some of the time. i like threads much more than one-off asks!
personal blogs are welcome to interact with my meta posts and send ooc asks. this was a semi-regular occurrence on my original blog and i'm alright with it if it picks up here. i just ask that you do not interact with my in-character stuff.
i don't believe in lengthy or specific dnis, but for the sake of posterity i'll just broadly say that this is not a space for zionists, racists, -phobics, or anyone who espouses essentialist rhetoric. while i don't have a dni of my own, i do respect them and naturally prioritize those of friends and long-time mutuals.
i find most fandom discourse to be reductive, but i'll clarify that i'm not a "taboo writer" and am not interested in writing with people who are. i don't do drama. i acknowledge that extenuating circumstances and genuinely harmful behavior will come up, but if the matter at hand is something that could've been resolved or averted with healthy conflict resolution skills i prefer to mind my own business.
three / content ❣ — i purchase my copies of each chapter, from which i crop and make my own icons with my own colorings and all that stuff. everything used in my blog assets are officially sourced. please don't take or repurpose my things, thank youuu
this blog is chock-full of spoilers. i cite and write meta on the manga often. these are tagged, but they're there.
i do use japanese honorifics in yumeko's dialogue. a lot of the time i know this might be cheesy, but the way yumeko speaks is kind of important and doesn't translate well to english. you don't have to match this, though.
four / shipping ❣ — yumeko is hard to ship romantically. not because she's unfriendly, but because her priorities are warped and she's rather divorced from her own humanity. she treats all but a small few exactly the same and of those exceptions, i think mary is the only one yumeko can actually 'work with'. i'm tentatively open to shipping otherwise, but yumeko is innately ~weird~ and things with her come down more to intent and subtext than anything overtly romantic. generally speaking i prefer to write sapphic ships.
i welcome and encourage an array of other dynamics as well ; yumeko is surprisingly malleable in some ways and it can be argued that she's only the way she is because she has no good influences in her life. although her ludomania is probably insoluble, she can be steered either positively or negatively by the people around her, and her influence on others is also fun to explore.
a girl's gotta be honest fellas... my brain is currently latched on to interests that don't entail rp rn and i make it a policy to not treat rp like it's more important than it is but i will definitely rotate back here Eventually. thank u for hanging tight!!
i haven't really been writing because i've been getting like 2 hours of sleep a night for the past two weeks then napping when i get home from work LMAOOO and so all my conscious time is spent on games or annoying my cat etc.... but i got a whopping five (5!!!!) hours of sleep last night so uhhhh :^) maybe soon i'll be conscious long enough to have time in the day to write ... @ my body blease... i wanna write my daughter... i wanna log onto my wives and write them.,..
"I, er...w-well, that is if they would care to bother. You've been the center of attention for the entire student council. I'll bet their minds are just constantly running on about you." Even when Yumeko cheering her on and looking forward to such a game with Mary challenging against someone from the council, it was a matter of planning before placing her eggs in a basket. She had already faced a terrible and embarrassing defeat against Nishinotouin who was already considered one of the lower grade council members. She absolutely refuses to experience that sense of a downfall ever again, especially not in front of Yumeko.
"After all, strategy is the best way to go about with them. Although I suppose I can't suggest that for you...considering your recklessness. In fact you're still planning on going after the president if I were to guess. I'm not sure how I would feel if I see you dare to lose against her..."
“ aha ... somehow the president keeps avoiding gambling with me ! it's been disappointing, to be honest ... ” she's wondered about that more than once lately. surely it wasn't a matter of fear — momobami kirari was rarely anything short of unflappable. it's hard to imagine her fearing anything, least of all her. did the president simply not like her ? did she find her particularly uninteresting ? the possibility of either sat somewhere between amusing and a smaller, earnest ache.
still, yumeko has never needed a rival to justify herself. the thrill of the gamble was its own reward, and her ambitions were never as high as a student council seat. to see mary on that throne would be much more interesting, perfectly suited to her refusal to be a footnote. yumeko had decided a long time ago that she wanted to watch that happen.
“ well, there's nothing to be done about it right now ! mary-san, shall we get lunch together ? ”
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
We rolled out a significant change to how notes work on reblogs, and the reaction has been strong. We're not going to pretend otherwise.
First things first: We're reversing the change. Your feedback in comments, emails, and especially reblogs, made clear that the rollout created problems we need to address before moving forward. We also should have communicated this differently from the start, and we didn't.
We still believe there's a better version of how reblogs can work. One that gives every voice in a chain the credit it deserves. But we want to get there with you.
In the coming days we'll share more on how we plan to do that, including ways to work directly with some of you on this and future changes before they ship.
Thanks to some very eager fellow citizen scientists, I have now tested the new features pretty thoroughly and can summarise the new system as follows: wow this is dogshit.
Now, as to how it works and the specific implementations of the dogshiticity, here is what I have observed from initial experimentation:
OP will get notified of all reblogs, so far as initial testing has gone. This includes tagged reblogs, commented reblogs, and uncommented-untagged "silent" reblogs. This also continues to include reblogs-of-reblogs. The only place OP will be able to see this is in their activity feed, because there is no longer any single location to see all notes/ reblogs on a post. Nobody else will be able to see ALL reblogs.
OP will get notified of any replies directly to their original post. So if you chatter in the notes of the original, OP will see that.
OP will get notified of any likes directly to their original post.
OP will NOT get notified of any likes to commented subsequent reblogs, as those now form a "new" post. Anyone wishing to leave a like should click the like button on OP's section of a reblogged post, otherwise OP will not know.
OP will NOT get notified of any discussion in the notes on comment-reblogs, as those are discussions on a "new" post.
OP will NOT be able to find any specific reblog chain, because for OP the notes on their post will only ever show the direct-from-OP reblogs and never any subsequent ones.
OP will NOT be able to find anything in their notes, and the Activity Feed is not a reliable place to be able to go hunting for other people's previous reblogs.
OP will NOT be able to turn off reblogging on a post, so there is no way to keep a post contained if it takes off in a way you don't want it to.
Every chain effectively becomes a complete silo, unconnected to any other reblog and only barely connected to the original post.
We will NOT be able to scroll through the notes of a post and look for funny tags or interesting comments, because the notes are now wildly fragmented and there is no central reference point. So it will not be possible to look through the notes and see if a hundred other people have already said that thing you were about to say.
OP will NOT be able to do anything to stop a harassment campaign that fills their activity feed, but also will not be able to find any of it in the notes of their post unless the harassers reblog directly from OP every time. This is a feature which will absolutely be used to harass people.
It is also VERY unhelpful that we don't have language to easily disambiguate "comments" (as in, a reblog that someone added something to, thus creating a new post) and "comments" (non-reblgo chatter that happens in the notes). Not that we can reliably see either of those any more.
So! Now you and I are armed with this valuable knowledge about how the new system works, please go to tumblr's feedback form and explain why this is a series of bad problems that you would like them to stop doing.
The feedback form is available here: https://www.tumblr.com/support
