With rumors going around about secret sessions, I will not let go of my dream for my sister and I to meet Taylor. I’m a realist, but I’m trying to stay positive and hope for the best. My sister and I love her, have the merch, the Target exclusive albums, have been to two tours, the butterfly mural. She is my sister’s role model, and I’m a fellow 89er. We would love to talk to her about her lyrics and impact. To us, she’s our friend. I would love nothing more than for us to finally meet. It would really be a dream come true for us. After listening to the song, studying the lyrics, and then letting my brain take a break so my heart can feel all the feelings I’m ready to put in my five cents. This is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever heard. I applaud Taylor so much for being so honest and vulnerable with us. It’s pretty crazy how Taylor articulates her own experiences and feelings and how similar they are to ours, yet we could never express it as beautifully. In her Instagram live story, she talked about how she would journal and feel things at the time, but whenever we reflect back on our past, we have a greater understanding of the situation. The Archer is remembering what we felt at the time and now having the self awareness to process everything. For Taylor and a lot of us, our first instinct is defense and proving that we’re not weak. We act like we’re better than that, but the fight gives us pleasure. We think of all the “right” things to say after the conflict. Taylor realizes her immaturity when she’s playing the game, running off expecting to be chased. She then sings “I’ve been the archer, I’ve been the prey. Who could ever leave me, darling. But who could stay?” It’s the paradox that the other is lucky to have us, validating our behavior and then having the fear that everything will be taken away from us because we drive people away. This track 5 song is like a sequel to Delicate. In Delicate, Taylor sings about not wanting to come off as too strong. In the beginning of relationships we’re so careful. We are our best selves. We try to do everything right. Once we become comfortable, we begin to show another side of ourselves. This is the stage in the relationship that we are more combative. Whether it’s romantic or a friendship, we get this sense of confidence that we can do no wrong. And then she sings “I see right through me.” If we’re lucky, we can look back and learn from our mistakes. There’s a lot we can take away from this song, but one thing I know for sure is my reply to “who could stay” is us. We’re not going anywhere. 🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹

So it seems that Taylor has always been transparent with us about these struggles. And now there’s speculation that Look What You Made Me Do is more about Scott than Kanye and Kim. If this is true, this woman had a more complicated narrative than we thought. I wish I could ask her about the lyrics and video to find out what message(s) she was trying to tell us.
