Night in the Woods - Die Anywhere Else
“My husband had a sudden heart attack a few months ago. It was just a few blocks from here. They called me in to identify his body and then just let me walk right out onto 7th Avenue. I felt so lost. My friends were wonderful and supportive but eventually everyone moves on with their lives. I don’t have children. And I’m not a workaholic. So I was left with this intense loneliness and void. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep. Then one day I started researching dogs that are good for grief and depression. And ‘poodle’ kept popping up. But when I went to the rescue fair, all the poodles were gone. There was this one old dog in the back that nobody was looking at. She was skin and bones. She was trembling and scared and mucus was running out of her eyes. She seemed so fragile. She reminded me of myself. I named her Grace because I think my husband sent her to me. She’s my first dog. She’s been pure joy. We spend all our time together. She’s gained her weight back. She comes with me to therapy. We’re getting better together.”
Whatever you’re going through, you can eat through it! We are all here for you! You’re wonderful, amazing, important and loved! Today is a new day 💚

☆ Happy lunar dog year! here are some mythological best friends to kick it off in cuteness! ☆
OH MY GOD whyyyy did no one tell me you’re supposed to send thank-yous after interviews?? Why would I do that???
“Thank you for this incredibly stressful 30 minutes that I have had to re-structure my entire day around and which will give me anxiety poos for the next 24 hours.”
I HATE ETIQUETTE IT’S THE MOST IMPOSSIBLE THING FOR ME TO LEARN WITHOUT SOMEONE DIRECTLY TELLING ME THIS SHIT
NO ONE TOLD YOU???? WTF! I HAVE FAILED YOU. Also: Dear ______: Thank you so much for the opportunity to sit down with you (&________) to discuss the [insert job position]. I am grateful to be considered for the position. I think I will be a great fit at [company name], especially given my experience in __________. [insert possible reference to something you talked about, something that excited you.] I look forward to hearing from you [and if you are feeling super confident: and working together in the future]. Sincerely, @mellivorinae
THIS IS A LIFESAVING TEMPLATE
YOU ARE WELCOME
My brother got a really great paid internship one summer. The guy who hired him said the deciding factor was the professional thank you letter my brother sent after the interview.
should it be an email? or like a physical letter?
email, you want to send it within a few hours at max after the interview if you can so it’s fresh in their mind who you are.
Confirmed! I interviewed for a job right after arriving in NY. The interview went incredibly well, and I went home and immediately wrote a thank you letter and put it in the mail. I had a super good feeling about this interview.
I didn’t get the job.
However, a few weeks later, I was called in to interview with another editor in the same company, and I did get that job. I found out later from the initial editor (the one who didn’t hire me) that he had planned to offer me the job, but since I didn’t follow up with a thank you letter, he assumed I didn’t really want it. He offered the job to another contender–but when he got my letter in the mail shortly after the offer had already been made, he went to HR and gave me a glowing recommendation. It was based on that recommendation that I got called in for the second interview.
So: send an email thank you immediately (same day!) after the interview. If you’re feeling extra, go ahead and send a written one too. OR go immediately to a coffee shop, write the letter, and return to the office and give it to the secretary.
Either way, those letters are important.
Pro tip: If you really want HR to develop a personal interest in your application, publicly thank them on linkedin. Just make a short post telling your network about how X recruiter really went above and beyond to make you feel welcome, or about how be accommodating and professional they were, or whatever. Make sure to use the mention feature so they’ll get a notification and see it.
Flattery will get you everywhere… and public flattery that might make its way back to their manager, doubly so.
Obligatory plug for one of FreePrintable.net’s sites: ThankYouLetter.ws. They have a whole section with interview thank you letter templates, and a page with specific tips for interview thank you letters. (There are also tons of other letter templates if you browse around a bit.)
Honestly I think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity.
Instead of saying “I’m lazy,” saying “I’ve made a habit of not doing work unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Instead of saying “I’m a bad friend,” saying “I haven’t communicated as much as I should with the people I care about.”
By being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didn’t happen or wallowing in blaming yourself.
Calling all One Day at a Time fans and pro-LGBTQIA+ and Latinx representation folks - this is not a drill!
This message is from a co-showrunner of One Day at a Time on Netflix.
They need viewers over the next few days to watch four or more shows to help keep it on the air! LET’S DO THIS!!!
The show has an out teen lesbian main character!
Who now has a non-binary sweetheart!
A single Latinx mom who is out of the military and working on her PTSD.
RITA MORENO!!!
WE CAN’T LET THIS GIFT TO THE WORLD GO AWAY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WATCH 4 OR MORE EPISODES THIS WEEK IF YOU CAN, AND PLEASE SHARE!!!
Hi this isn’t about bfu but I am making an exception because this show is genuinely so good, funny, and meaningful. I was reluctant because it’s a sitcom and they usually aren’t my thing - but I am SO glad I did, because it made me laugh harder than anything else the past few days.
It is the exact kind of show we on tumblr seek out in terms of representation, and heart, and hilarious, witty writing that doesn’t punch down. If you have Netflix, please give this show a shot as soon as you can!
honestly, trump supporting fob fans are. somethin else. like you mean to tell me you’re an active fan of a band that’s openly leftist, supports black lives matter, supports the lgbtq+ community and trans rights, supports feminism and women’s rights, and consists of:
a jewish guy w strong political views
a half black guy who’s been open about liking guys too in the past, and has a strong stance on homophobia/transphobia
a guy who’s vegan & an animals rights activist
and an atheist/taoist who’s one of the most feminist cishet white men this side of the river
and you support. trump. a man who’s the total opposite of all of those things.
what.
there were like no star wars vine compilations so i made one to fill that empty space
how are people watching the mp100 netflix adaptation and what happened to reigen
Netflix did what now?
why
yanderetord replied to your post “i actually dont know why shrek is a meme”

Listen ... he just is
I jotted down for a friend of mine some tips and notes on how I approach drawing hair, and things I keep in mind while doing so, and thought I’d share. There are loads of other ways to do it, and the learning never stops, so I hope this helps!
