is there any piece of vanilla media that has made you go 👀 (like a sick episode/ off-the-cuff mention of a character's allergies/ etc.)

Oh I’m sure there’s tons, but the one that sticks out in my mind is the fact that Miles Edgeworth from Ace Attorney canonically has pollen allergies and it’s never utilized ever.

It drives me insane because there have been characters that have canonically sneeze in the series too, so there’s no reason not to mention it!!!!

E/dgeworth snzcanons

I have so many thoughts about Edgeworth it's unreal, but here's just a few snzcanons for now!

Stifles. Practically exclusively stifles. He needs to be really out of it or be sneezing a lot for him to sneeze openly. Even then he will try to muffle it as much as possible.

Quiet buildups, doesn't really visibly hitch unless his allergies get really bad.

A snzcanon I saw somewhere else and have adopted is he will try to stop himself from sneezing as long as humanly possible. Rubbing his nose, pinching it shut, the whole works. Has gotten pretty good at hiding it as well.

Will keep talking up until the moment he sneezes.

Doesn't really acknowledge being blessed besides nodding unless it's really rude to not do so. Even then it's very curt. Is also not a huge blesser himself by nature but will usually say gesundheit out of politeness.

Allergic to pollen and can be sensitive to dust if there's a lot of it. I can also see him having like one or two very esoteric allergies? Like one specific perfume or a single dog breed.

By nature he has a pretty good immune system, but his tendancy to overwork himself cancels that out.

Doesn't sneeze a lot randomly, maybe a few times a week at best.

I can kinda see him having the kink

their partner stopping to observe - and smell - every single row or bush of flowers.

the gentleman being too polite to excuse himself or ask to keep walking along - now having to endure, with a strained expression, the excursion through the gardens.

handkerchief firmly planted over their nose, trying in vain to stifle their ever-increasing number of sneezes.

Nothing hotter than a man CRUMPLING all at the presence of a singular flower

A terribly sneezy man requesting that his partner stops blessing him, finding it “humiliating” and “emasculating”.

Stubbornly, his partner doesn’t let up and closes the distance between the two, firmly reassuring him that they’re meant to be nothing of the sort.

Then, as he begins to helplessly hitch, his partner leans in close, and presses the gentlest kiss to the tip of his sneezing nose, whispering out a tender “God bless you,” as they gaze into his teary eyes with utmost sincerity. The man lets out an utterly desperate, dainty sneeze against the crook of his partner’s neck, a shiver running through his frame at the force.

The blessings are merely acknowledgment, praises for the wretched sneezes he’s forced to endure. And his partner is sure to bless every one of his sneezes whilst peppering the smallest kisses.

I’m really thinking about the old scientific area where they were just finding out how allergies work with experiments. Back when ethics weren’t a concern and motherfuckers were just sticking flowers in the face of a well-dressed but very hitchy and sneezy man.

A person who has naturally soft sneezes: breathy, sibilant, contained. And when they catch cold, these sneezes become slightly harsher. There's a jagged consonant at the end of the first syllable, the sneeze itself pitches them forward with a little more force, they vocalize the ending, and their handkerchief can't entirely muffle the sound - but it's not a sneeze that registers as especially strong.

Except to the person themselves, who feels utterly shaken up and exhausted by how violently they're sneezing and how heavy their cold is. Each set of sneezes leaves them a little breathless and shivery, and with the urge to pull a blanket more tightly around their shoulders. And they're quietly, but sincerely apologetic about how disruptive their sneezes are, when really they're nothing of the sort.

(I feel like there are two versions of this. One where they get to complain to a very fond caretaker about how these sneezes are tearing right through them. And another where they would be far too embarrassed to do that, so just worry about how obtrusive their cold is, while everyone around them is just thinking how cute and careful their sneezes are.)

thinking about well dressed, dignified men (literally just j/ay g/atsby in his ivory or pink suit) miserably clutching a handkerchief to their nose with a sense of urgency and neediness whilst shamefully muttering out,

“my most sincere apologies… i must look a mess…”

before pathetically dampening the handkerchief that bashfully buries away his nose with a messy, pitifully soft sneeze

a wealthy man who’s used to having his sneezes blessed by others, (usually his servants) finds himself sneezing himself into a fit, with nobody to produce him handkerchiefs or bless him.

to fill the unfamiliar silence, he finds himself softly whispering,

“bless me….”

to himself after particularly laborious sneezes

honestly answer might vary depending on where you’re from since blessing culture differs vastly based on that.

some people might consider it rude to not acknowledge others snzs but like. it really does not matter LOL.

i was like this for awhile because i was awkward around snz mentions at all but i slowly became used to it. nothing wrong with it at all!!
