"...Charoite?"
“…Spinel?”
Charoite would peer closer, the snow obscuring some of her vision. But that voice… no, there was no mistaking it. It had to be her, surely… she would tread a few steps forward, struggling to wade through the heavy snow.
“Spinel, is that really you?”
This was a feeling the two solitary gems on this frozen, desolate planet seemed to understand all at once. The feeling of just SEEING someone else, being able to touch another and KNOW they’re not just some illusion borne of insanity and loneliness… it was a feeling Charoite felt blessed with.
One of them had to be strong. Charoite always knew how… even if she didn’t feel strong herself. Inside, she felt more like an insecure pearl straight out of the Kindergarden… but she mustered all the courage she had.
She reached up and held Spinel’s head close, running a hand over her fluffy hood, taking in all of the feelings. If they had to be stranded here together… there was no one she’d rather do it with.
“I-I’m here, it’s okay. I’m here. Y-You can cry.”
Spinel’s racked sobs were muffled by the snow around them, as relief and sadness and loneliness all poured out at once in one big mess of emotion.
The whole scene felt… Honest. Pure. There was no hiding things right now, just two scared and lonely gems taking some time to be less scared. Less lonely.
Spinel managed to calm down, after a bit. Wiped her eyes on her arm. Gave Charoite a weak smile, before reaching up and pulling her into another hug, nuzzling into her hair, whispering a “thank you”.
The bigger of the pair, would embrace Spinel more, almost picking her up, nuzzling back into the other’s shoulder. It was such a vunerable moment, and one that Charoite was not about to take for granted. Not ever. She’d never leave Spinel’s side again.
“You’ll never have to be alone as long as I’m here, okay?” Charoite pulled away from the hug, hands on the brown-red gem’s shoulders, her iris-less eyes gazing back down into those fracturnal ones; she always found herself lost in that gem of hers. “I’m going to stay here with you.”
She then found herself sheepishly laughing. “…Not like I’d have a choice anyway… I crash-landed. There’s no way I’m leaving again without the parts.”
“Thank you,” Spine whispered, a little weakly, smiling back - it was a tired smile, but genuine. She’d been here a long time. This was a moment she needed.
“Oh, uh, I don’t. Have a way back either.” She mumbled awkwardly, and then laughed, butting her head against Charoite’s chin and giving her a wide smile. “I came here expecting to not have the chance to get away, but that said... Sometimes Homeworlders come here looking to get rid of me for good, and their ships don’t always just drop them off and leave.”

Spinel took a few steps forward too, her gem blinking alight and shining through the falling snow. And then she took a few more, until she was almost touching Charoite.
Her gem’s light blinking off.
“… It is… And it’s really you too… Oh man I’ve missed you…”
She would take a few moments to just look Spinel up and down. Her eyes were filled with disbelief and confusion; what were the chances that the pair would end up on the same planet together? Charoite was sure she was the only one… or at least the only one nearby.
Her hand would reach up, one thumb caressing Spinel’s cheek softly, looking for answers. But she quickly gave in to her temptations, pulling Spinel into a big, warm hug; at least as warm as you could get in this winter wasteland.
“I missed you so much. I-I thought I’d never see you again.”
“I didn’t think I’d see anyone again either...”
Spinel went quiet for a moment, hugging Charoite back tight, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of someone else.
S-someone... Someone else...
She began shaking a little. Gritting her teeth. She gripped Charoite tighter.
“I-I missed you too... I’ve missed you so much... I’m... I’m so happy right now...”
A few tears began welling up.
"...Charoite?"
