Check out the super cute cover art for Harvest Hoppers! Designing the cover for a new game is one of the hardest parts of the game publishing process. It often takes many passes and iterations before we settle on a design that's just perfect. It starts with off with our Creative Manager pitching a theme and general idea and takes off from there. For Harvest Hoppers, Quill pulled inspiration from texts like Frog & Toad, Winnie the Pooh, and Peter Rabbit. From there, they moved into full design mode. Which…takes a while. It involves getting the image to sit well with the logo, giving you a feel for the game and capturing the tone the team is looking for. There were several changes to the bike and flower colors as well as flipping around that flying beet to see which way it would work best. In the end, Quill did an amazing job on the final illustration. I hope you enjoy our adorable Hoptop on its way to deliver some tasty veggies! Harvest Hoppers is LIVE on Kickstarter! We have poured so much time and love into this game and are super excited to share it with potential backers.

So what is Harvest Hoppers? Well …Harvest Hoppers is a board game that delivers heartwarming fun for 2 to 6 players over 30 to 60 minutes. It’s a strategy game that comes with dozens of produce tokens, uniquely configured neighborhood maps, and a heapin’ handful of adorable Hoptop bicycle delivery antics. As bike couriers for your local farmers, you will deliver pumpkins, corn, mushrooms, and more to the cozy restaurants and cafés of Greenbranch in the Verdant Isles. So put the pedal to the produce and get hopping! These deliveries need to make it there fresh!

Whoooooo! Getting a game ready for crowdfunding is no small thing. It takes a lot of play testing, adjusting rules and balancing for a fun experience. It also means a lot of work goes into art, making demo copies and getting final images ready for manufacturing. We were really excited to get our demo copies in for Harvest Hoppers. While the art has since been updated, seeing the game in the physical world really helps bring the project to life. It also means we can pack it up and bring it with us to conventions for playtesting and send it out to reviewers! So here is a peek at the Harvest Hoppers demo copy.

When making Birds of a Feather, we felt that it was really important that the game was easily adaptable for a variety of player numbers. As we reworked the rulebook, we added a solo mode and supports for running games with up to seven players. This makes Birds of a Feather easy to pull out on a game night of any size.

Baking…at a game studio? Yep! Our tabletop RPG Teatime Adventures has a whole host of recipes hidden inside. And those recipes can make for great photo ops for socials and great clips for TikTok. So…some days, part of my workload is baking and recording content. I honestly love those days, not only does it make my work day a little extra enjoyable, but it also makes it a whole lot tastier! This shot was from my Lemon Sass-ame cake-baking session for our TikTok channel.

Wooooop! How about another sneak peek at one of the Harvest Hoppers gameboard shops? This time it's the Coffee Cabin, your one-stop shop for caffeinated goodness! And yes this one also has a water dish for your four-legged best buddy. I can’t wait to pick up a piping hot cappuccino when I stop to deliver my veggie crates!

Travel games are a must have for any lover of board games. These games tend to be small, easy to pack, and often quick to play - making them a great option to pop in a bag and pull out during trips away from the home. Keeping this in mind, we decided to keep Birds of a Feather nice and compact making it a great game on the go.

Time for a sneak peek at one of the shops from the Harvest Hoppers gameboard! This is the local bakery, which is crammed full of fresh from the oven treats. Two of our artists worked on each of the Harvest Hoppers shops so there is little influence from each of them in the images. Also check out the little dish of water in the front of the shop for your sweet pupper friends!

Over the winter break Snowbright fans shared their explorations of the Verdant Isles! It was heartwarming to see pictures of their snack spreads featuring recipes from the Teatime Adventures book mixed with some of their own family favorites, as well as hear about their game night gatherings. We spend so much time deep in the development of a game that it means a lot to see the game being played. So if you have a game you’re playing and really loving, be sure to tag the studio in your posts. For small studios like ours, it means the world to us to see you enjoying our games.

Did you know that Birds of a Feather is an eco-friendly game? In fact, the entire box (contents and all) can be composted, should you choose to do so….but we recommend keeping it around to play. It was our first game with an eco-focus, and it was a super interesting process. We're excited to continue exploring eco-friendly manufacturing. Like, what can we actually source to fit in the next game? Can we still make dice to go with games? What materials would those dice need to be made out of the make them as least impactful on the environment as possible? And what does this mean for partnerships? Does that super cool company ethically source and use post-consumer, plastics fee products? And will people pay for the added cost that goes into an environmentally-minded game? It's been quite the journey so far but one we are happy to be on!

Birds of a Feather has taken flight! Well, it's shipped…which honestly feels really good. You spend a lot of time working on a game, crowdfunding, and manufacturing it, so having it finally going out to backers and fans is a great feeling.

We have been learning a lot from shipping Birds. No two games are quite the same, and we definitely ran into some surprises with Birds that we didn't run into with Teatime Adventures fulfillment. Also, shipping over the winter holidays is…well… let's just say things move slower. But it's been really great to hear about families playing Birds of a Feather over break, and we can't wait for the rest of the games to make their way to their homes!

Who was gifted a game over the holidays? We would love to hear what you got and how it played!

What's your favorite game to play over the holiday? For our Communications Manager, it’s any of the Exit escape room games. They have become a holiday tradition. Our Creative Manager says that Donkey Kong Country is a staple and is played after Christmas dinner. For our CEO its a challenging game of Monkey Ball! I guess we all like a challenge on our time off 😆

100% of Snowbright staff are remote workers. This means each and every day we show up to work, we deal with cats chewing on our pencils and dogs barking at delivery people. Our discord is filled with aaaaaaaasssfdgggdssss as our keyboards are walked across, and we constantly struggle to keep our cats decent during google meetings. The struggle is real! 😂 But in all honestly, we love our pets, so much so that we refer to them as the HR department, and they alone hold the power to assign new emoji slots in the office discord.
