Rereading Ao no exorcist, because I finally found the first two volumes at different bookstores, and getting to the part where they're trying to see who has any Tamer abilities is kinda funny in hindsight. Shima really was just lying right from the beginning by claiming it's not working for him/that he has no talent for it. I wonder what Yamantaka was thinking about this. Was he annoyed? Grace Hopper did more than coin the term “bug”. She invented the first program linker in the early 1950s, for the UNIVAC I. A program linker translates instructions from one language to another (for example, numerical codes that represent instructions translated to machine code that computers can read), which is the very foundation of how computer’s operate independently. she also pulled a steve rogers and tried to enlist in the military a bunch of times and was denied. then, an exception was made for her when she joined the navy reserves, and she ended up serving for over 40 years (half of which was active duty). she retired from the navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. she was born in NYC in 1906. Grace Hopper was a fucking badass.
also computing was typically a job for women (many of whom were black women that made incredible contributions) back in the day, so it’s absolutely fucking wild that straight white men think they are the foundation of computer innovation. men PUSHED women out and took the credit.

Also, just about every computerized device outside of desktops is running ARM chips now. Your phone, your keyboard, your car, your watch. Basically everything.
And ARM was primarily designed by Sophie Wilson, a trans woman.
Also gotta throw on Lynn Conway, whose work brought about VSLI [Very Large Scale Integration] in chip design in the early 80s. Basically all modern microelectronics depends on Conway’s work, which got logic gates on a single chip up from thousands to millions.
BTW all of this was after IBM fired her in 68 for disclosing she wanted to transition. They apologized in 2020.

Some major updates from people in Iran and leaks:
While the official number of deaths is stated to be between 2,000-3,000, people estimate that the actual number of deaths is estimated to be at least 12,000. Videos show bodies all over the streets and body bags just lying on the ground.
Doctors are reporting being overwhelmed by the casualties.
The regime is trying to arrest injured protesters in the hospital.
The regime is charging money to return the bodies of murdered protesters to their families. (This practice is already disgusting, but imagine charging money at their rates in Iran's current economic status when people can barely afford bread.)
People are reporting that people from the regime's affiliates and proxy groups in the region have already been brought in to help with the suppression.
Messages being sent from Iran are saying that curfews are being enforced and that the regime's forces, including these proxies, are shooting indiscriminately at will.
Executions will really start tomorrow.
The regime is doing whatever it can to cut off people from the world. It's very difficult for people to contact family in Iran. There is still an internet blackout.
Despite this, there is still some footage coming out that people are still willing to risk it all and fight.
This is a humanitarian crisis. The people of Iran need your support more than ever. Amplify their voices, and don't let the regime get away with its crimes in darkness. Hold your governments and media to account to make sure that they support the people of Iran and not support the regime.

I keep forgetting how many people don't know what a shitty and despicable person she is or who know but still keep defending her. There was so much shit revealed about her show and plenty of youtubers talked about, though they are unfortunately all in German, but I still recommend checking them out.
