I don't even go here but I logged back in just to say that like. I think tumblr might be the social media community most worth saving by moving to some kind of open community owned and operated protocol, and has the most to lose if the ostensible owners of it fail their community (Again I mean, they already do, regularly and often, but in a way that actually leads to a complete exodus instead of just several waves of smaller ones)

It's hard to explain to zoomers just how insanely homophobic the early 2000s were. If you were male, and like, washed your hair regularly, people would call you a faggot.
So, dudes who washed their hair and wore button ups developed the term "metrosexual" which meant "I care about my appearance but I am attracted to women and don't have sex with men."
And not just "oh people called you gay to be mean" like they literally thought you were homosexual and hiding it. Women would literally be like "damn, I was super attracted to him, but I heard he wore shorts more than twice in a week, so I guess he must like men."

The thing about ADHD is that the "lack of reward chemicals in your brain" doesn't just mean that you don't want to do any tasks that don't feel particularly yummy :(, it means that your brain will look at chores and tasks that need to be done like "doing this would be painful and tedious for absolutely nothing to gain from it, Do Not Do That." The same thing that your brain tells you about everything else that would feel really bad and hurt the entire time that you're dying. The part of your brain that stops you from doing the thing is the same part that keeps you from shoving your arm into a wood chipper.
With unmedicated, unmanaged ADHD, "I have to do this assignment or I fail and my life will be ruined and I die" feels like a SAW trap, every single time.

Hi I have been trying for over 6 months to get work, several hundred apps, and only my 5th ever interview is this Monday. Regardless of the outcome the situation is the same. My wife and I need desperate financial help to make it through the end of the month. Our rent will be raised to $1100 starting August on top of a quarterly charge for the sewage bill of our place. All of this against bills and lack of food. My wife is working on coms as hard as she can but without my income we aren't making near enough. I'm asking you to at the very least help us make the rent and enough additional to get some groceries and hopefully I will have a job soon to not need this help any further.
