“I was thinking something similar to a scoop so it is easy to grab and let go of it. But the way to set that up would probably take a while to make sure it is set up well and the axis remains stable. “ Pidge as she was talking reopened the sketchbook at all the designs she had made.
“Oh and we need to figure out the main body like if its a cylinder, box, etc.” She looked at everything from the tiny little triangle with mars rover treks to the large robot cat that she made after Vern.
“Ugh I vote for a small amount of procrastination. Have you made any robots before?” She asked maybe placing to the side for a bit it will help them make a decision in a bit.
At Pidge’s suggestion, Mei stroked her chin as she contemplated the idea. While it sounded amazing, the Chinese girl wasn’t sure if the two of them would be able to accomplish as many of these actions in this short amount of time.
Sadly, though, because the idea sounded amazing. “We should definitely mull over this because we do have the time to plan,” she said. She didn’t want to dismiss the idea completely until they had the majority of the robot mapped out. Anything was possible if they put their minds to it. “We do have the time.”
“Well, procrastination isn’t the best output for us to decide on at this moment, but we definitely can plan things out,” Mei explained. “Perhaps we can go and get something to eat or maybe some coffee and get to know each other more so we are more team like? I would be glad to tell you of my robotic experiences on the way if you agree. If not, I can still tell you now.”

As childish as the activity seemed, Angela couldn’t help but feel a tingle of excitement. When was the last time she’d made a snowman for the fun of it? This was a welcome change of pace.
“I think your hat will make a wonderful gift for our friend, Mei” the blonde insisted as she knelt down in the snow and began to gather it up into a sizable base.
“My name is Angela.” she added with a soft smile.
Mei clapped her hands in excitement, the sound muffled through the fabric of her thick mittens. This was beyond splendid and she couldn’t believe that she was so opportune to be in a situation like this.
Mei bent down and began helping Angela gather the snow into a solid foundation for them to begin with. It was nice to have someone actually join her for a snow excursion. She wasn’t too sure how to work with someone else, but of course she would figure it out.
Mei stopped and huffed as she stared at the snow pile, her eyes glossing over as she thought. “How big do you think we should make it?”
If you could have anything in the world what would it be?

“Anything? And you mean anything? That’s a tough decision. I already have Snowball and he’s so important to me.”
“Yes, that’s it. I would keep Snowball because he is my world.”
What five things would you refuse to live without?

“Hmm. I would have to choose Snowball, the snow, my toolkit, my glasses, and a nice cup of hot chocolate. Bonus if there’s some kahlua in it.”
Have you ever had a naughty dream? If so, give us some details.
oo TMI TUESDAY oo late response
“I mean… yes. But I wouldn’t really call it a naughty dream. It is perfectly natural to have these kinds of dreams.”
“I need to spare you the details. They’re my dreams for my own pleasure.”

Pidge paused at the phrase.
“right side up?” She asked trying to say it in a nice way. Pidge wondered how she could have made the mistake? Maybe she was a international student? Oh well it really did not matter. Pidge pulled the sketch to think of some other things that would need to be added.
“What would you recommend we add to collect the ping pong balls? I have a few ideas but what would you recommend?” She flipped through the various sketches she had. Some ideas way over the top others that could work but with the flipping arm would not work together.
Mei tapped the side of her head as if jolting her brain. “Ah yes! Right side up, how silly of me to forget that.” It was difficult at times for Mei to remember terminology and translations--they varied vastly and she often stumbled.
Sticking out as she thought, Mei rolled her eyes upwards as if searching for an answer to PIdge’s question. She didn’t have an immediate answer at the time, but luckily the two had quite some time before needing to reach a decision. Of course, it was better for them to figure it out sooner rather than later. It made everything easier, especially with all the programming that needed to be done.
“I honestly have no idea at the moment,” she answered, slouching her shoulders a bit in dismay. “But I would love to hear the ideas that you have!”

It may have been a silly thing to feel so upset over, but Angela could relate. Maybe she wasn’t as heartbroken over the destruction of the snowman, but she couldn’t say she condoned the behavior that brought the sculpture to ruin. Besides, now those immature boys were running around with items that didn’t belong to them.
“It is, isn’t it…”
Angela paused for a moment, and stared at the scattered clumps of snow in the area– remnants of the snowman’s corpse.
“How about we build him back up again?” the blonde suggested as she removed her scarf– making her intention to donate it to the snowman’s rebuilding apparent.
At the girl’s suggestion, Mei couldn’t help but feel jittery with excitement. While she had been dismayed about the previous snowman and the bullies that took it to themselves to smash it and steal some poor person’s (or even numerous people) belongings.
Mei watched as the woman took off her scarf, knowing that this was actually going to happen. The snowman would have justice. And the artist would have some sort of gratitude of the snowman being there--Mei even wanted to incorporate the stick that had been left behind, as a token to the previous artist.
Mei removed her hat as her ponytail fell onto her shoulders, holding the red hat in her hands as it began to concave inwards. “We can also use my hat. Every snowman needs a hat, just like Frosty. Even if this isn’t the correct hat.”
“It’s wonderful to have a snowman-making buddy. I’m Mei,” she said with a smile. “Let us show that this snowman is worth fighting for.”
Moira: Quite a tragedy that happend to your fellow scientists in Antarctica Zhou. You have my condolences. *smirks*

olc-eolaiche:
Moira’s day was just terrible: her colleagues decided that today was the day to run their experiment, even though she told them bluntly and many times that she was not done fine tuning the experiment…and most of the experiment was destroyed…almost all of her progress was gone thanks to these morons. The urge to kill was strong today, and a prayer should be done for anyone to interact with her today, because it will not be pretty.
And apparently the universe was out to get her when she heard it: yipping. A disgusting dog was somewhere near her. Moira hated dogs: they were loud, obnoxious, and were just too needy. So when a white puff ball started to run at her, Moira was about ready to just glare the mutt away, but thankfully the dog’s owner had some form of intelligence and restrained the animal.
The owner apologized for their…pet, which normally Moira would’ve have accepted and moved on, but if Moira was going to have a bad day, well, she was always a giver.
With a sneer, “While the apology is appreciated, you should really learn how to control your animal and train it how to behave…not matter how ‘cute’ it is, it is still an animal. Kudos on you for using a leash however, that is very rare nowadays apparently.”
People normally weren’t so apprehensive whenever they saw Snowball. They usually liked the little fluffball and how well he behaved despite being housebound the majority of days (Snowball always seemed to hate being outside except when there was a fresh blanket of snow). But this person in front of her seemed... different, for lack of a better term.
Rude, maybe?
“Snowball is usually very well behaved. He spends the majority of his time inside and needs to exert some of his energy out in the natural light,” Mei explained. One of the perks of not having a roommate was that Mei was able to leave the doors in her dorm open and the small dog was able to race through the rooms whenever he decided. His energy was typically never a problem.
“He always has a leash, after all it is an ordinance and he still needs to behave like the service animal he is. But he still is a dog and is very excited today with the snow. He has not seen it for quite some time.” It was for this reason that Mei did not have his training harness on. This was the dog’s opportunity to act like the animal that he was in the eye of the public.
“Oh, so uh. I should probably introduce us. This is Snowball, obviously. And my name is Mei-Ling Zhou, but please call me Mei,” she introduced with a smile and an extension of her hand. Proper introductions were necessary, especially if Snowball was going to make himself known for once. “It is a pleasure to meet you.”

Pidge sat in her chair exciting for the robotics project. She loved robotics she felt her her foot tap and bob as she waits for the teacher to finish the explanation. Then the groups were paired. She stood up and sat down with a girl who was actually as short as she was.
“Hi, my name is Katie Holt but my friends call me Pidge. Nice to meet you.” She was excited to work with an upper class men though she did look pretty young pidge was in the same boat.
“so what should we have our robot do?” She said as she took out a note book and a pencil.
“I was thinking we could use it to flip other robots over, what do you think?” She said with a smile. The truth is that she wanted to try all these crazy cool ideas but she was holding back. She did think about a flamethrower, it was just for a second though but she knew she needed to think more practically.
This freshman was adorable.
It didn’t take long for Mei to decide, and she found herself as equally excited to be working on this project. “It is also nice to meet you, Pidge” Mei said with a smile. Though she was curious about the origins to Pidge’s nickname, it wasn’t her place to ask about it. Maybe later, once the two had begun progress on their project. After-all, people never asked why Mei preferred shortening her name.
At Pidge’s question and suggestion, Mei couldn’t help the way her eyebrows furrowed together as she thought. The robot had to complete an obstacle course, complete with travelling around bars and pushing a few balls into holes. That part was simple: but it was a race against three other robots.
And sabotages were allowed in the obstacle course as long as the robot was not destroyed in the process. But there were only allowed one little sabotage.
“I think that would be good. Other people would probably not think about defensing themselves against a flip. We could possibly use our flipper as a way to turn our robot upside-right!”
“If that is the word that I am thinking.”

“It isn’t logical, but it is a great idea. I think one of my soulmates is actually one of my friends from high school. Despite us not seeing each other, we still keep in touch and she’s one of the most important people to me.”

It wasn’t very often that Mei found herself being contacted by previous professors, much less asked for her cooperation with a freshman class. Yet, here Mei was at the front of the classroom, smiling as the professor explained the upcoming robotics competition.
She wasn’t even sure if anyone was staring at her, but she could feel her teeth gritting together behind closed lips. She felt uncomfortable just standing here, people staring at her. But the competition seemed like fun. It was for college students, teams of two--the team had to consist of an upper-level student and a lower-level student.
This could be fun.
After the explanation, the professor paired the people up based on his observations and the people he believed would be a fitting team. Mei stared at the girl in front of her, two pairs of brown eyes staring at equal height. She smiled. First impressions must always be positive.
“Hello! My name’s Mei-Ling, but you can call me Mei,” she introduced. “I look forward to working with you.”
