"Ladies and gentlemen, a baby is not a life preserver. You don't throw a drowning man a baby. In fact, I remember my sister had her fourth kid, I said 'What's it like?' she goes 'Imagine you're drowning in a swimming pool and somebody throws you a baby."

If you’re one of my followers under the age of 23 this post is for you: Do Not start smoking cigarettes because of HudCon. I know they look hot & cool doing it but it makes you stinky & cranky & gives you a cough like a beast. It is not worth it
I don't see enough people talk about Half Man. It's definitely not for everyone, but so far, each episode has been a ride with multiple slaps in the face. I'm also glad it's only 6 episodes because it's a lot.
Tommy Kinard, the biggest fumble of 9-1-1

just wanted to paint one of those sweet comforting moments in the low light of dawn 🌄 it’s always missing them hours 💖
I haven't watched the latest episode of 911, I don't even know which ep# it was. And I don't know if I'll watch what's left of this season. Bringing a child in Buck's life is the *last freaking thing* I wanted to see happen to him. I would have even rooted for a new LI, whatever the gender, if they were made to be a good, loving, and stable partner to him. I think I'll wait to see what people say about the coming episodes, and decide if I catch up or not.
It's so fucking disheartening to be against AI and genAi the way it's been imposed on us, stealing our humanity, while risking long term unemployment if you don't learn basic AI. They really found a way to enslave us even more.
I've been working in the digital field for 20 years and never feared any progress because it kept giving us more to do, new jobs, bullshit or not, new tools to actually help us and make us create new things. We lept learning new skills, all the time. But with AI, the goal is to replace us, that's their fantasy, to have us unemployed and literally starve to death so they can make more profits. And if it can't replace you, you need to cave in and accept to use it and everything it means. It's just...I really have a hard time dealing with this.
I'm doing things in my free time that a machine can't even do. I crochet (can't be done by a machine, not actual crochet), I do bookbinding, with some stitches a machine can't do, but this isn't what pays my rent, bills, and food, and will never be. So what's left right now? "The bubble will burst!" Yes and no. Yes, shitty apps like Sora will disappear but AI/genAI definitely won't. It's too profitable when used more wisely that what they did at first (though they got what they wanted and must have harvested so much of their users' data.) AI give them so much control over us, it WON'T STOP. And this is where I'm just stuck. Resisting means unemployment. And I'm talking about AI strictly on a professional level. I don't need AI in my daily life, unless they make it sustainable and ethical, and even then, I don’t even see how I could use it. Using Claude to organize my computer and send a few emails? Come on now.
And for genAI, I just don't need it at all in my daily, personal life. Like, ever. I learned how to use photoshop, still learning. Whatever I need can be done with it.

If Tommy doesn't come back, then he'll meet an awesome guy on a call (and we know he doesn't like that), a veterinary stuck in the woods, who fell in a sort of big ditch or whatever while rescuing a dog with a friend. The vet slipped and fell, and it's isolated because of course it is, and they were hiking and they found that dog at the bottom of the ditch but they were not equipped for a rescue like that.
Anyway, Tommy saves the day because they can only extract them by air, the surroundings being way too unstable to get to him by land without the risk of causing a landslide.
The vet is wounded, the dog is wounded, and Tommy almost fell in love (with both of them because Tommy is an animal lover) on the spot when he saw them clinging to each other.
Tommy's too good for the 118.
Because it's almost Sunday evening, I'm thinking about the coming week, and about work. I had my yearly performance review this past week, and I have, once again, the highest appreciation. I've been working there for 4 years, had the best appreciation for 3 years in a row. My manager had nothing negative to say about me and my work, nothing to fix or do better. My company is also doing so good we're getting a bonus (very small but anything is good nowadays).
And yet I'm still waiting to see if I'm losing my job to AI. They're struggling to make AI work so they can throw us away like old garbage, so they're keeping us for now. But the moment they find how AI can make enough of our work so they can deliver mediocre data to the clients, we're out.
It's not about them struggling with money, it's not about them not having enough work. It's all about human beings needing money to live versus AI that costs a lot less. Quality is not even a parameter. It's all about money.
So when people say hard work pays: no, it doesn't. Work hard, be the best, and you'll lose your job all the same.
!!!!!!!!!
911 is written like a basic sitcom now. This show feels emptier than ever.
he has to die
I'm not joking we have to kill him
