Quick reminder, especially for you younger undergrads: Discipline is a skill, not a character trait. And just like any skill, it can be practiced and improved upon incrementally. Try not to get discouraged if you have a day, or multiple days, where you are less disciplined than you would like or need to be. Don’t quit. Don’t spend the next week binging Netflix because you think it’s a hopeless endeavour. Just get up the next day and try again. Each day you try is more practice, and each day you practice, you’ll get a little bit better, and that continual improvement will pay dividends in the long run.
Keep at it.
here’s an idea: notice toxic trends in your behavior and, idk, change them
the fact that people are complaining on this post that they can’t change their behaviors that hurt others because they have x mental illness and We Can’t All Be Neurotypical Karen is absolutely fucking wild. do you realize your arguments have come full circle to being indistinguishable from the most crude, generic “mentally ill people are inherently dangerous and/or abusive” ableist rhetoric? you always have the agency to address the ways in which you are hurting others (or yourself). maybe not instantly. maybe not effortlessly. but it IS within your abilities and it is something you owe to your community and yourself
Destroy the idea that you have to be constantly working or grinding in order to be successful. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery, and reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a successful and ultimately happy life.
don’t allow yourself to fall into the same toxic cycles. notice your character flaws, and take the time to learn to grow from and out of them. always work on bettering yourself
seeing this really made my day
IT GETS BETTER

how can people decide what they want to do with their life when i can’t even decide what i wanna do with my hair?
You don’t need recognition from anyone for motivation toward success. Self-motivation is key.
