Depression, it is NOT always a pretty girl crying on her bathroom floor with her boyfriend/girlfriend cleaning her wrist and kissing her scars. It is NOT always a girl who never smiles or laughs, and long sleeves. It is NOT always a boy who never sits with his friends, who barely speaks, who doesn’t do any sports. It is NOT always a girl who never goes to parties, because she’d rather stay inside and sleep. It is NOT always a boy who does drugs whenever he can.

HOWEVER, IT CAN BE; a girl who learned to clean her own cuts, because she knows that no one will be there in the middle of the night, to do those things for her. It is a girl who stops smiling or laughing when she thinks nobody is looking at her, it’s t-shirts and a lot of bracelets, because she doesn’t want her friends to ask her what’s wrong. It is a boy who sits with his friends, who talks a lot and jokes a lot, and goes to sports practice every week, because he’s trying to hide the fact that he doesn’t want to be there and he doesn’t want his parents to worry. It’s a girl who goes to parties a lot, and drinks, drink after drink, after drink, and so on. Because she thinks that people will love her more when she’s drunk. It’s a boy who stays away from drugs, but he smokes his lungs black as much as he can. Because yes, it will still be a slow death, but at least it’s a little closer now.

NOW STOP THINKING THAT DEPRESSION IS EASY TO NOTICE AND THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE THE SAME, A LOT OF PEOPLE ACTUALLY TRY TO HIDE THE FACT THAT THEY’RE DEPRESSED.
