As Archer explains the project Tali ends up going to a window, hands on her hips to gaze out of it. Kal canāt blame her, the need to lecture the man about the idiocy of this entire operation is strong. Though, Tali would probably just shove her shotgun down his throat. Canāt blame her for that either, really.
Mirandaās mouth twisting is the only indication to how she feels about this, but what sheās displeased about it anyoneās guess. Maybe she thinks she could have done a better job, maybe itās because she agrees this shouldnāt have happened. Kal just shakes his head, keeping watching with Taliās drone and Garrusā mines. Fucking around with geth will never end well, but hooking up an organic mind to the Consensus? Tomfoolery, right there. All the lives wasted because of this project⦠seems like no matter the species, the geth keep prevailing.
His own brother.
Garrus and Shepardās comments filter into his mind. Make it stop. Is David still in there? Trying to find some way to communicate with them? How much control does he have? His own brother isnāt even calling him by his name. They should put a bullet in this manās head.
āWeāll head out to the stations,ā Shepard asserts.
āThank you.ā
Shepard gives no response, and they file out of the building. āNormandy, requesting Hammerhead at local.ā
āRoger that, Shepard. ETA twenty minutes,ā Joker responds.
āOh, Spirits,ā Garrus groans, head dropping back. āWhy didnāt I think about that?ā
āYou guys are so fucking dramatic.ā
āDramatic!?ā Tali dramatically exclaims. āYou made Wrex scream once!ā
āThe thousand-year-old krogan battlemaster?ā Miranda dryly responds.
āThat whole thing with Wrex was an accident.ā
Hooking his hands on the cowl of his armor, Garrus bends at the torso a little to lean closer to Shepard. āYou get how thatās worse right?ā
Before Shepard can respond to that, Tali turns to him and Miranda. āWrex and I were her ground team for this mission.ā
Shepard throws a hand up. āOh, here we fuckinā go.ā She settles on her back foot, hip cocking and arms crossing.
Tali continues without pause. āWeāre going down this mountain face because for some reason, Shepard canāt oneāā she ticks off a finger, āleave something alone. And twoāā she ticks off another, āshe canāt find a reasonable path to get to her destination.ā
āCasbin fucking sucked! I will not hear any complaints.ā
āWe werenāt on Casbin, weāre we. It was Nodacrux. So, weāre getting this mineral deposit. Going down this sheer mountain face.ā She makes her hand flat and angles it to demonstrate. āIām gripping my handle so hard my hand was starting to cramp, and I know I saw Wrex doing so too even though he denies it.ā
āHe liked our adventures in the Mako,ā Shepard sullenly interrupts.
āYou mean horror stories?ā Garrus retorts and Kal snorts.
āThings donāt last well for long because suddenly!ā Tali throws her hands out. āWeāre flying in the air! And now weāre falling fast, somehow upside down, and I thought it was a geth ambush because well, theyāve done so like twoāā
āThree,ā Shepard corrects.
āāthree times before this. Itās a reasonable assumption. Iām screaming, Wrex is screaming, and Shepardāā Tali whips her head to look at Shepard in a way that can only be described as accusatory, āāsays shit. Oneāā a finger gets raised, āālittle, quiet shit as weāre careening to our deaths in a tank thatās more death trap than not. The thrusters and boosters activate and somehow, we land mostly on our side. I almost dislocated my shoulder and Wrex bruised his tail.ā
āHe wouldnāt let me hear the end of it for days.ā
āAs he should!ā Tali adamantly points at her. āShepard rights us, itās silent with just our heavy breathing. I look at Shepard, Wrex looks at Shepard. Sheās just⦠staring out the window. We wait to see what sheāll say this time, ācause we know. You wanna know what this maniac says?ā
āOf course,ā Kal responds.
āShe turns to us, smiles, and states, at least we landed on the mineral deposit.ā Kal laughs and Miranda face palms. āIāve never seen Wrex more likely to kill her and that includes fucking Virmire.ā
āNow the reason they fell off the mountain?ā Garrus prompts.
Shouting, Tali answers, āshe accidentally hit the booster control!ā
āNo!ā Kal laughs.
āSpirits, the things you put that tank through that I had to fixāā
āOh, come on. Garrus! Donāt act like you didnāt like repairing. You got on my ass about the right tire pressure!ā
āIf the wheels arenāt at the rightāā
āI know!ā
āWhere did you get a license?ā Miranda asks. āI was never able to figure that out.ā Shepard remains still and silent. āYou⦠you have a license right?ā
āShepard,ā Garrus follows with, in a purposefully calm voice. āPlease, tell me, after all this time, you have a license.ā
āI have a license.ā
āAre you lying to me?ā
āI am not! I just⦠got it while I was in the military.ā
āBloody hell, the military taught you how to drive?ā
āNo, the military did not teach me how to drive. I learned when I was eleven.ā
āELEVEN?ā bursts out of Garrus and Kal splutters.
āSomeone needed to be a getaway driver! I was the one that didnāt have a job!ā
Miranda walks away and Tali comes to rest her hands on Shepardās biceps. āYou learned how to drive, by driving away from scenes of crime.ā
āā¦it was example led.ā
āOh, Ancestors,ā Tali wails, leaning her head on Shepardās chest.
Shepard pats Taliās head. āThere, there. I havenāt killed you guys.ā
Tali straightens off Shepard. āNot for lack of trying!ā
āOh, come on. I only was purposefully bad a couple of times.ā
āWhaā what were those times!?ā Garrus asks.
āThe Virmire approach. Nepmos was fun as shit. And you guys were so creeped out by Altahe I had to.ā
āYou bitch!ā Tali shrieks. āLiara had nightmares!ā
āAnd a conditioned response!ā Garrus follows with.
āNo shit?ā he asks.
āShe was fine, okay?ā she tells him. āThere were only threeāā she holds up three fingers, āāvomiting instances. So, itās fine.ā
āItās not fine. You rammed that colossus on purpose then!ā
Shepard spreads her arms out. āOf course I rammed the colossus on purpose, Garrus! Itās a fucking colossus! What did you want me to do? Ask it politely to stop firing at me?ā
āIt would have been better than ramming it and giving me whiplash!ā
āYou didnāt get whiplash.ā
āI almost did!ā
āAlmost is not did. And did you die though? Did any of you die? No, no you did not. Okay, so cut it with the complaining.ā
Kal looks at Garrus. āIs she any better with the Hammerhead?ā
His head drops back as he wails, āsheās worse!ā
āTHE HAMMERHEAD FUCKING SUCKS!ā Shepard finally raises her voice and Kal doubles over in laughter. āItās a stupid fucking vehicle and I hate it!ā
āItās not the tank, itās the driver.ā
āWell, if you can do any better, you can drive!ā
āNo!ā Tali shouts. āThe one time on Maji was enough for me thanks.ā
āSeriously?ā
āIāve never been that nauseous in my life, Garrus.ā
āSee,ā Shepard puts her hands on her hips. āIt is the tank.ā
āYouāre still horrible, Shepard.ā
āThanks.ā
āI can always driveāā Miranda offers.
āNo,ā Tali spits out. Miranda looks to Shepard.
āI can drive it,ā Kal also offers.
Garrus and Tali exclaim, āyes!ā right as Shepard states, āno one else is driving the tank.ā
āYou let us all get one chance,ā Garrus points out.
āScared Iāll be better than you?ā Kal teases.
āIām not scared,ā Shepard primly responds.
āNo, youāre just a control freak,ā Garrus mutters.
Shepard points a finger, āIām gonna shoot you with a bazooka.ā
āWe donāt even have one on board, how are you going toāā
āKal, gimme your missile launcher.ā
āOkay! Fine, Spirits. My bad. I want the other side of my face intact.ā
āYou sure? I can always even it out for āya.ā
āIām good, thanks.ā
āWhat would it take for Kal to drive?ā Miranda asks. āBecause I donāt want you in the driverās seat either.ā
āYou could all drop and gimme twenty.ā Tali gives a very dramatic eye roll to that. āHey, Iām being nice and only asking for twenty. I could make it fifty. In fact, maybe I shouldāā
āWeāre going, weāre going!ā Garrus yanks Tali down to the ground.
Miranda looks at him, and he shrugs at her. Heāll do it if she does. With a sigh, she drops, and he follows. Shepard counts as they go up and down. She paces in front of them, and heās sure she prolongs the call time a little to try and make them strain. As he proved in the cargo bay, sheāll have to try harder for that.
āDropping Hammerhead t-minus one minute.ā
They scurry away to make room for the tank. When it drops, Shepard gestures to it with a flourish. āYour carriage, my good sir.ā
āWhy thank you,ā he primly responds climbing in.
No one argues Shepard taking the secondary seat up front. Kal looks around at the controls, figuring out what everything is as everyone buckles, and Garrus goes for the cannon.
āAll right, shields are primed,ā Shepard states.
Kal opens a comm channel with EDI and she helpfully provides diagrams for him, automatically translating it too. As he memorizes that, he buckles his harness.
āOkay. Okay, okay.ā He turns the engines on and then settles his hand on the stick for the boosters. Staring straight ahead, he decides to finally point out the flaw in the otherās logic. āYāall do know I donāt know what Iām doing, right?ā
Very quietly from the back, he hears, āfuck.ā
Shepard laughs.
He pushes the stick forward and they go rocketing ahead.

āNothingās pure, Starscream,ā Optimus states in that rumbling voice, quiet but sure. Tired, but strong. āBesides, what should be doneāthe actāgets done. Thatās what matters. People were still helped. I was still helped regardless of your reasons. Since you helped me, I say itās kind of you.ā
Starscream isnāt a kind mech. Hasnāt been one in cycles. Itās a fact. The strength of one bot over another. Starscream didnāt keep his position as Commander of the High Guard for over fifty cycles because he was nice.
He can schmooze and manipulate, whip out the charisma when needed. But, at the end of it all heās still a warframe, a soldier. He puts guns in servos; he doesnāt kiss them.
The Sheps have arrived for the Fuck it, we ball! Ball.

WHUMPTOBER is a month-long, prompt-based creation CHALLENGE (think: Inktober, but whumpier). There are four prompts for each day of the month, giving 124 for you to play with! There is also a list of 18 alternative prompts that can be subbed in for any day to give participants as much creative freedom as possible.
All prompts are meant to serve as inspiration without being taken literally (e.g. you donāt have to include the exact wording of prompts into your work). Feel free to run rampant on interpretation. For example, if the prompt is āflame", you could create something with reference to a candle/campfire, your character could have suffered a burn, or the flame could be a reference to an āold flameā - an old relationship. Itās truly down to you!
You can produce work in any media you choose, including but not limited to: writing, visual artwork, photo/video/audio edits, paper crafts and elaborate recommendation lists (not just a list of links). You can participate as much or as little as you want (i.e. you donāt have to do ALL the prompts if you donāt want to) and prompts can be used in any order. They are also free to use even after the event ends.

Scene 1: Shepard stands in front of a wide window, the building sheās in is space worthy. The firing chamber of the Reaper takes up almost the entirety of it, but you can still see the curvature of it. Its red light illuminates everything and makes Shepard a silhouette. One foot is stepped backwards, as if sheās frozen in the middle of movingā in trepidation, in uncertainty, in fear. The reveal of the thing in front of her being aliveāis a Reaperāis overwhelming. āYouāre out of touch.ā
Scene 2: Itās the same as scene 1, but farther back, revealing Saren standing a couple meters behind from her, staring at her. He too, is a silhouette. The focus of the camera is the gun in his hand. It slightly shakes. āIām out of time.ā
Scene 3: Itās Saren commanding the Geth legions, standing in the hull of Sovereign. His arms are spread like a priest, like a prophet. He heralds extinction. āBut Iām out of my head when youāre not around.ā
Scene 4: A close up of Sarenās face, mandibles spread wide in aggression, but the tears in his eyes glow blue from the cybernetics. Blood coats his face, there are fresh cracks in his plating. His arm is lifted toward the camera, as if heās holding it. āYouāre out of touch.ā

it is honestly amazing how much of writing and editing is just. logistics. like... do i use a name here or a pronoun? if i move this dialogue tag to the middle of this line and break it in half, does the end of the line hit harder that way? what if i move the tag to the front? what if i remove it entirely? ...wait, whose point of view am i in; can i reasonably say this character is appalled, or must i say they look or seem or sound appalled? is this a deliberate action or a step-removed one; is her hand closing on his shoulder, or is she closing her hand on his shoulder? environment environment environment, we need to break all this dialogue up with some narration, the scene is coming untethered. what! are! they doing! with! the rest of their bodies that are not hands! fuck fuck fuck FUCK i forgot we covered this two chapters ago and now i either need to cut this whole chunk or find a reason to reprise the conversation from earlier. name or pronoun? name or pronoun? name or pronoun? move this clause around in this sentence? oh i'll add this phrase-- nope, never mind, past!me added the same phrase two lines down. okay, if i add too much environmental narration it's going to take away from this bit, but not enough and it won't feel grounded. what if i move this to its own line? where the FUCK are their hands?
Things you can sexualize about Starscream without defaulting to wings and heels:
Fluid/quiet movement. Maintains himself very well, not a spot of rust in those gears.
Sharp optics. Watching like thereās not a moment of silence happening in that brain of his, always analyzing a situation for advantages, physical, verbal, or otherwise.
HIS WEAPONS. Let him shove a barrel in someoneās face to assert dominance! Let him make someone grovel. :3c
The words he says/how he says them. His voice depending on continuity can be awful, but the things he says can be alluring and manipulative.
Aura. Like not even kidding. Confidence is sexy and, where applicable, Starscream can be VERY confident.
