Finally finished season 10 of hermitcraft so decided to draw my favorite hermit! I have been watching him since his debut in hermitcraft season 7 :3c

Aurgh.. loved loved loved the finale episode he had recorded. I plan on drawing more of him soon :3cc

late secret file finale piece ^_^ closeups and commentary under the cut

i've been feeling kind of dissatisfied with my digital art recently, feeling like i'm just doing the same thing every time so i wanted to shake it up a bit! i did some analogue papercut stuff for a project and i really enjoyed it, so i wanted to try and recreate the layered paper + coloured pencil look digitally. I think it went really well! i also tried to be very careful and planned about my colours and do a proper colour scheme... unsure how much i stuck to that but the piece came together very well :] i do think there's some weirdness in how the detailed bits and areas of attention are concentrated, but this is a new style so, yaknow, still ironing out the creases. thanks for reading!

Mary is trans on purpose! I did this art piece in dedication to the transfem butches in my rural Appalachian hometown who, ironically, taught me everything I know about bein' a man! They were my mothers when I needed a mother and my sisters when I needed a sister and my friends when I needed a friend, and they were the first trans people I ever met as a newly out transmasc in a small town.

It's not meant to be a 1:1 thing where, like, they're Mary and I'm Jesus. That would be nuts. I chose religious imagery because I met them in PFLAG meetings that were held in the basement of this really striking church.

The piece is called "Seeing Spots" and it's about the way the sun would hit the floors of the church filtered through the stained glass. It's about getting your lights knocked out in a bad fight and knowing there's no comfort waiting for you in your own home. It's about the spots on a fresh baby deer, yearning to be a buck. It's about a lot of things, but mostly it's a piece about gratitude and reverence and love.

My own mother, who died when I was thirteen, called me Bambi when I was little, which is why I used deer imagery instead of the traditional lamb!

The colors are a little off bc I didn't use the 3D model as the reference (and also because I only have so many colors in construction paper)

I watched The Amazing Digital Circus Pilot and really enjoyed it. I can't wait to get to know all the characters more when the series comes out :)

I especially can't wait to see more of Zooble and went ahead and made myself a Zooble plush. Nothing can ever happen to them. Not because I'm proud if how they turned out (that's part of it), but because I filled their torso up with 2 2/3 bags of microbeads and if they burst I'm not going to be able to get everything back in and will be finding beads for weeks after cleaning up. The rest of their body has been stuffed with normal stuffing. I did triple layer the felt in their neck to give it as much firmness as possible to be able to hold up their head. I wanted to avoid using wires or sticks as much as possible.
