How I feel about this character

listen she? good. she was already cool when we just knew her as The Widow but as soon as we saw that flashback? as soon as “my turn to be a god”? as soon as that THING where she SAVED ALL THE DWARVES by putting them in her SWORD? i love….her.

i genuinely think it would be hilarious and great if she hooked up with Moonshine. moonshine hooking up with hardwon’s mom is a) what she deserves and b) so PERFECTLY in character for naddpod. i’m also into Alanis/Lydia–is this mostly because i think they’re both hot? yes. I also like Lydia/Elias for what it was, or for what I imagine it to be–a sort of naive, youthful relationship where he showed her what it was like to be free of the Chosen and they both loved each other but he ultimately couldn’t put her and her family above his own stubborn pride? fuck! that’s so tragic! but it’s tragic in a way that i like.

her relationship with Hardwon? beautiful. iconic. darling. i love it. i also adore the Potential that exists in her relationship with Red and Gunther–they were PIRATES TOGETHER!! they ALL loved Elias!!! she TRUSTED them with taking care of her baby son!!!! 

My unpopular opinion about this character

i LIKE the concept of her and Elias’s relationship!! it had a shitty end and it probably wasn’t the healthiest thing in the world but i bet they had some wild and wonderful adventures together and i bet they really really loved each other but he just…..couldn’t put her and hardwon above his own pride. and that SUCKS. but i don’t think it means the whole relationship sucked, ya feel me?

i’m pretty happy with how things have gone? i would like to see the shadowfell armies play a part in the Big Final Battle, i’ve been WAITING for them to storm the material plane ever since Moonshine first brought it up as an option in episode 75.

at any given moment i am thinking about what hardwon was doing in the years between him leaving irondeep and finding bev and moonshine in moonstone. if gemma was his high school girlfriend and he left because they broke up, he probably wasn’t any older than 18/19, which means he spent six/seven years alone on the road. 

he didn’t have any friends or family, any skills beyond digging in the mines, so he just wandered around to try to get odd jobs but he never found anything that stuck. i think this is where he got his “pride of the dwarphanage/bastard of the mountain” titles, he was trying to build himself up. he just had so much time in between.

Improv D&D

So every now and then my group does an improv d&d night. No one prepares anything and the night tends to go something like this:

1. Start character sheet by filling out Name, Class, Race and Basic Stats (STR, DEX, CON etc) using basic build (18,16,12,10,10,8) then pass the character sheet to your left.

2. Fill out skill mods by basic stats and choose 4 to train (+5). Add in Armour, Speed, HP, initiative & equipment. Pass sheet to your left.

3. Fill out personality traits, 2 feats, 3 at-will powers, 1 daily.

3b. OPTIONAL draw your character.

4. Now shuffle the character sheets together and pick the first DM. Hand out the character sheets at random.

5. Play for 20 minutes with the first DM, then all roles go to your right. So the person to the right is now DM and the characters all shift around.

6. Continue until everyone is too tired from laughing.

We tend to think that the sillier the better for this but it’s best when you can manage to bring in elements from all the DMs before you.

I’ve found it’s one of the easiest and most fun ways to get players who are scared to start DMing into trying whole DM God-complex thing.
