Temporary, Like a Dare

#established kiribaku. slow burn. pro-heros. slight canon divergence (nobody went to war.)
It’s only supposed to be temporary: a spare room, borrowed clothes, recovery leave, and some time to get back on your feet. But living with two old UA friends is different now that they’re not just friends — they’re partners, living in a home built around each other.
And the longer you stay, the harder it becomes to remember why you were so determined to leave.
For one long second, you were struck dumb by the sight of them.
Your friends.
The ones who’d known you long before the world did.
A lifetime of memories that now felt so damn far away from the cracked curb, from the blood on your face, from the hollowed-out husk of your home, lurking in the murky darkness just beyond.
But here they were.
Kirishima’s smile wobbled.
“Hey,” he said, softer this time. “We found you.”
He came to crouch in front of you first, ahead of Bakugo. His eyes flicked over your bandaged feet and your dirty face. One large hand twitched, unsure if it was safe to reach out. When you did not flinch away, he settled his palm against your knee.
“Hey, Firefly,” he said, softer now. “You should come home with us.”
