this is the mindset i wish for all heterosexual and bisexual women
ewewewewewEW fucking IMAGINE if I said this about a woman. As a matter of fact, people DO talk about women like this and it's considered extremely offensive. Women who act like this are the female version of "alpha-male-incel-I-kin-the-Joker" guys and they make other women look bad.
"imagine if I said the about a woman" actually men say much worse about women. Yesterday I saw a news story about a European woman who had gone to India to cure her depression and she was gang raped and murdered. Most of the comments were men making fun and saying she deserved it. One comment that had many likes said "must not fap" the man was joking about how he couldn't stop himself from masterbating to a woman who was raped and murdered. Other men commented saying this comment "won the Internet"
This is the normal stuff women have to deal with when opening the Internet for a few seconds. And yet you guys will have a literal meltdown because a woman said your personality was dogshite. You are just proving her right and you are actually so weak and pathetic for not being able to take that.
They dont make other women look bad either. I'm proud to be a woman when i see a woman like this with honesty and integrity who doesn't take shit from men.
I love how they latch onto the fact that because humans make different types of chairs it automatically means women aren’t female
Nothing to see here, just two men comparing us to chairs. There are no male allies
it's almost like everyone is able to recognise a chair in spite of human languages being unable to write down a precise definition. it's almost like the interesting point of the diogenes thing is that humans have the ability to accurately create categories that allow us to interact meaningfully with the world around us in spite of being unable to explain in words how this categorisation happens.
No. Stop. The definition is correct in every single instance. "Separate seat for one person" fits all the pictures of chairs provided. "Typically" means that a typical chair would have four legs and a back, but it also acknowledges the existence of chairs that don't. Also, a horse is an animal, not a seat. A stool is a type of chair. I don't see the problem because there is none.
These people here are wilfully misinterpreting, pretending they don't understand context, relativizing semantics until they are void of any meaning. Or trying to, because anyone with a bit of sense should know that's a clear definition.
Yes, obviously women should not be compared to chairs. But that is not what's happening here, what we're seeing is how far people will go to try and destroy our ability to use language concisely. Don't fall into the trap of "you feel the word", that's what they want. You don't feel words, you understand them because they have meanings. They want us to forego rationality and to renounce meaning in language. That's a dangerous path.
Stop relativizing linguistics. They want to pretend that words are meaningless and that rationality is impossible because they want to manipulate us. They are aware that words hold power, they wouldn't be doing this otherwise.
I realised this the other day and had no one to tell, I'm so glad to get it out.
Right, so I'm not a linguist but as I understand it there are literal definitions and functional definitions. And although we need literal definitions for communication purposes, we mostly use functional definitions. We as radfems do it a lot. "Clothes are just clothes" and "if a woman owns it, they are women's clothes" are functional definitions. They aren't literal because if you make clothes for a living "women's clothes" has a definition beyond who you sell them to. If you are asked to make a pair of women's trousers and you return with mens trousers that a woman owns, you have not met the brief.
TRAs think functional definitions are the only definitions that matters. If I treat it as a chair, it's a chair. Even if it's actually a horse, insisting on calling it a horse is pedantry. I'm sitting on it, therefore it is a chair.
The problem is that this treats an object as if it doesn't exist outside of its function. That's fine for clothes that just sit in a wardrobe when not being worn. Not fine for a horse that needs feeding and will occasionally not want to be sat on, and is generally going to be a horse, even when being treated as a chair. And if you asked every chair maker in the world for a horse, you wouldn't get one.
And then my actual point. Women are not objects and do not have a function.
The idea the anyone can "live as a woman" is treating womanhood as a function. That dresses and housework and mothering is what women are FOR in the same way a chair is for sitting. Although they usually expand the list to include more things, only as far as women are a multi use object, with applications outside the home.
The implication is that when you say "that man is not a woman" you're pedanticly correcting people that this been bag is not a chair, even though everyone is using it as a chair, and demanding your pedantry be respected more than someone else's want to be called their own name. That since trans women are "used as women" by people around them, they are functionally women. But thinking "woman" can have a functional meaning at all is misogyny. There is no function a woman can fail to fulfil and lose her womanhood. There is no function a man can perform to gain it.
it really clicked for me how many men’s sexuality is all about domination, dehumanization and humiliation when I realized that teenage girls are the most over sexualized group but are also so deeply hated.. like the fact that the most popular porn genres have the word “teen” in them but also there is literally not one single thing teenage girls can do without being relentlessly mocked by men is crazy
