Oh, I am flattered. Very flattered. Just a little concerned about the intensity of it. Most people follow someone’s blog and move on with their day. You follow someone’s blog and somehow know what rooftop they’re standing on, what direction they’re facing and probably what they had for breakfast. There’s a difference.

Also, I love that your response to “do humans do this?” was basically “I was raised by magical forest spirits. How would I know?” Which is fair, honestly.

And hold on… “mother dislikes other Spirits in our forest.” That’s terrifying. I don’t know why tell me these things like they’re completely normal. You just casually drop the most alarming information imaginable and expect me to continue the conversation. Should I be worried if I ever visit? Would your mother throw me out? Would she poison me? Would you poison me? Actually, don’t answer that last one. I already know the answer is probably “only a little”.

As for the poisoning… nope. You cannot poison people. And before you ask your next question… nope, you cannot shoot them either. It is a fair point! How am I meant to know mortal etiquette? Father was barely good at Spirit etiquette and he always acted odd... Even stranger than some of the characters in Gotham which really is saying something!

As for the whole Spirits thing... Is it terrifying? I assumed it would be normal. If a human trespassed into your home you would be upset, no? It's like that but a bit more dangerous! For both of you. You shouldn't be worried! You're mortal so you're alright. Mother has heard plenty about you from myself and the nymphs she sent to follow me that she thinks I don't know about.

Besides, mother loves guests! Especially humans. She thinks they're so very funny. It's not really her thing per say. She has control and dominion over everything in the forest so I'd be more worried about that. And a little bit of poison is fine! You know, talking to you is a genuinely unique experience. Most of my friends tell me about their day. You tell me things like, “my mother’s been secretly keeping track of you through forest nymphs”, and somehow expect me to react normally. I can’t. I refuse. That’s not normal information. And yet somehow I’m not even surprised anymore. I think that’s the concerning part.

Also, for the record, Gotham having enough flowers to keep you constantly informed is a horrifying thought. I already have enough surveillance problems without the daisies joining in. What happens if I walk past one of your flowerbeds? Does it immediately report back? “Attention, Lady Solanine. The redhead has purchased coffee and appears mildly annoyed.” Because honestly, that sounds exactly like something that would happen to me.

As for the etiquette thing… I think you’re doing okay. A little strange. But okay. You were raised by immortal spirits in a magical forest and somehow still ended up opening a flower shop and making friends. That feels like a success story to me. Though your explanation of trespassing made me laugh. “It’s only dangerous because Mother controls everything in the forest.” That’s not reassuring. That’s the exact opposite of reassuring. And now I really wanna meet your parents. Which probably means I’ve completely lost my sense of self-preservation.

The tea thing, though? I need you to understand something. Most people don’t hear “slightly poisonous berries” and think, “what a lovely ingredient for tea. Most people hear that and immediately stop drinking. I need you to know that “I plead the Fifth” is not helping your case. In fact, that’s basically an admission of guilt. And THANK YOU for proving my point immediately afterward. I asked if you analyze photos to figure out where I am. Your response was to bring up my drink order from earlier today. Do you understand why that’s concerning? Do you? Because from my perspective this conversation just became significantly more alarming. Also, the hot chocolate was good. And before you ask how I slept last night, what brand of shampoo I use, or what page I’m on in my current book… nope. Absolutely not. Some mysteries are allowed to remain mysteries. And I am NOT planting magical surveillance vines outside my apartment. Nice try.

Though now I’m curious whether that suggestion was genuinely helpful or whether you just want more plants spying on me. Honestly, at this point I can’t tell. And yep, being unique is a good thing. Most people in Gotham are trying very hard to fit into a box. You’re the only person I’ve met who accidentally wandered in from an entirely different reality and somehow made it work. It’s weird. But it’s your weird. I think that’s why people like you. Well, most people. The criminals you’ve threatened with poisonous butterflies probably have different opinions.

And hold on. A lake of everlasting life? You can’t just casually drop that into a sentence. You do this constantly. Every conversation with you feels like reading three fantasy novels simultaneously. And don’t worry about looking threatening when you’re angry. I’ve seen it. Most of the time it’s aimed at people who deserve it. Besides, I think the scary part isn’t the glowing eyes or the poison. Mostly because I know you’re doing it because you care. It’s just that most people express concern by sending a text. You express concern by building an intelligence network. There’s a difference. A pretty significant difference.

And nope, you may not install butterfly security systems around my apartment. Do you have any idea how difficult it would be to explain that? “Batgirl, why are there dozens of poisonous butterflies outside your window?” “Oh, those? A friend put them there.” See? Impossible. Although the fact that your immediate response to wanting to protect someone is creating an ecosystem around them is admittedly very on-brand.

Now, about the lake. Yeah, it’s a big deal. People spend their entire lives trying to avoid death. Some people would burn down cities for immortality. Most humans don’t have access to magical forests with eternal life lakes hidden inside them. That’s why historians would care. And scientists. And governments. And probably every billionaire on Earth. Meanwhile you’re talking about it the same way someone else would talk about a local pond. I swear your perspective on reality is completely broken. And for the record, I don’t think humans enjoy being afraid of death. I think we’re just used to it. It’s part of life. The limited time is what makes things important. At least that’s what my dad would say. Personally, I try not to think about it too much. Gotham gives me enough things to worry about already. Also, your poor father. Imagine being offered immortality by a divine forest spirit and responding with “no thanks. That’s either incredibly romantic or incredibly stubborn. Possibly both.

Now. The butterflies. Okay, listen to me carefully. If a group of creatures tells someone “we find you aesthetically pleasing and would enjoy drinking your blood”… that’s not a compliment. You cannot just add a nice sentence before a threat and expect it to stop being a threat. That’s not how humans work. And your compromise is terrible. Actually, I don’t even think that qualifies as a compromise. You basically proposed “what if the butterflies continue discussing your blood and I simply don’t tell you about it?” That’s just keeping secrets. You’re alarmingly bad at negotiations.

As for healthy distance… far enough away that they are not considering me a potential snack. That seems reasonable. And I know you’d never hurt me intentionally. I wasn’t worried about that. There’s a difference between being afraid of someone and being worried for them. When you get angry, especially really angry, you throw yourself into danger. That’s what makes me nervous. Not you. The things you’ll do to protect people.

And the heart thing… oh my God. No, we can’t bend our hearts. It’s an expression. “Cross my heart” means making a promise. Though honestly, watching you try to understand human sayings is becoming one of my favorite hobbies. Every conversation feels like I’m accidentally teaching an immortal spirit anthropology.

The butterflies mainly feed off my own emotions, though, so you would be safe!

I can understand why, death is so very horrid. In my defence, it is the equivalent of a 'local pond' to me! Except it is a lake. We do have ponds in the forest, though. The water nymphs there are very friendly. Hmm... I don't quite understand but I shall pretend I do! Do you not like death? I'll admit, I don't like the idea of you dying. Is there any chance I could convince you into taking a swim in the lake? I think he's afraid of losing his 'humanity'. I don't quite get it. If he loved mother, would he not want to stay with her? Humans do age slower in the forest but father will eventually die. Mother would be all alone again then! I might have to move back.

Well, I can't promise I understand that but I am rather powerful, even without my full strength. If anything, I refuse to let a mortal kill me or die anywhere else but in the forest! Which is impossible, haha!

Expression... I see. It's a saying. Like that raining cats and dogs one! I was very disappointed when you told me the sky would not, in fact, rain mammals. It's a shame you can't bend your hearts. Please don’t start taking notes on humanity. That somehow feels more dangerous than the butterflies. I’m picturing an entire notebook titled: “Humans: Observations”. And every page is just increasingly concerning conclusions.

“Humans enjoy privacy for reasons still unknown.”

“Humans become upset when flowers monitor their daily activities.”

“Humans react negatively when informed something wants to drink their blood.”

Honestly, you’d probably become an expert anthropologist in a month. A very confusing anthropologist.

And yep, television lies. Constantly. You should know that by now. If television were accurate, every teenager would have perfect hair at all times and nobody would ever need to use a bathroom.

As for the butterflies, the sentence “they’re only dangerous if they decide someone no longer deserves to live” is not reassuring. You understand how often you say terrifying things in a reassuring tone? Because it’s a lot. A concerning amount. Though the fact that they feed off your emotions explains quite a bit. Now, the blood thing. I’m once again asking you to imagine this conversation from a human perspective. If someone says “you’re beautiful and we’d love to drink your blood.” The first half doesn’t cancel out the second half. The second half’s the problem. And the fact you genuinely don’t understand why is incredibly funny. Concerning. But funny. Though I’ll admit I’m touched that you’re worried about hurting the butterflies’ feelings. They do love me. I love them too! I am so glad others can see that. They were created with me. We are rather literally one in the same. Nothing is normal to you humans!

She loves him, she would never force him to do anything. He stays in the forest with her out of his own choice. Also, we are not completely sure if the ageing slowly in the forest means that he would continue to age normally outside or if he would rapidly age and then die within a second.

So if I stopped getting you to ingest poison and built up my credibility I would have a significantly higher chance of convincing you? Great! I shall do that. It does not sound very ‘absurd’ to me…

Human perspectives are difficult to comprehend but I shall try. Yes, I see why that may be strange. Hm… Okay. No more saying that then. You won’t see them from miles away though! Not with mortal vision.

You follow someone’s blog and somehow know what rooftop they’re standing on, what direction they’re facing and probably what they had for breakfast. There’s a difference.

Also, I love that your response to “do humans do this?” was basically “I was raised by magical forest spirits. How would I know?” Which is fair, honestly.

And hold on… “mother dislikes other Spirits in our forest.” That’s terrifying. I don’t know why tell me these things like they’re completely normal. You just casually drop the most alarming information imaginable and expect me to continue the conversation. Should I be worried if I ever visit? Would your mother throw me out? Would she poison me? Would you poison me? Actually, don’t answer that last one. I already know the answer is probably “only a little”.

As for the poisoning… nope. You cannot poison people. And before you ask your next question… nope, you cannot shoot them either. I know that’s a radical concept in your line of work. Just knock them out. Tie them up. Leave them for the police. Like a normal vigilante. Or as normal as a butterfly-summoning forest demigoddess can be.

It is a fair point! How am I meant to know mortal etiquette? Father was barely good at Spirit etiquette and he always acted odd... Even stranger than some of the characters in Gotham which really is saying something!

As for the whole Spirits thing... Is it terrifying? I assumed it would be normal. If a human trespassed into your home you would be upset, no? It's like that but a bit more dangerous! Father loves mortal guests too since his friends don't visit often and the forest doesn't really do mortal talking creatures like humans! The poison thing isn't an issue! It's not really her thing per say. She has control and dominion over everything in the forest so I'd be more worried about that. And a little bit of poison is fine! That tea I gifted you the other day on patrol was brewed from slightly poisonous berries...

Damn. It's not my fault! Immortals have no need for lying, it's often below us. Mother only ever lies to protect Father's sensitive little feelings. Humans lie so very much when it's unnecessary, it's strange! Gotham's been teaching me a lot about that.

You know, talking to you is a genuinely unique experience. Most of my friends tell me about their day. You tell me things like, “my mother’s been secretly keeping track of you through forest nymphs”, and somehow expect me to react normally. I can’t. I refuse. That’s not normal information. And yet somehow I’m not even surprised anymore. I think that’s the concerning part.

Also, for the record, Gotham having enough flowers to keep you constantly informed is a horrifying thought. I already have enough surveillance problems without the daisies joining in. What happens if I walk past one of your flowerbeds? Does it immediately report back? “Attention, Lady Solanine. The redhead has purchased coffee and appears mildly annoyed.” Because honestly, that sounds exactly like something that would happen to me.

As for the etiquette thing… I think you’re doing okay. A little strange. But okay. You were raised by immortal spirits in a magical forest and somehow still ended up opening a flower shop and making friends. That feels like a success story to me. Though your explanation of trespassing made me laugh. “It’s only dangerous because Mother controls everything in the forest.” That’s not reassuring. That’s the exact opposite of reassuring. And now I really wanna meet your parents. Which probably means I’ve completely lost my sense of self-preservation.

The tea thing, though? I need you to understand something. Most people don’t hear “slightly poisonous berries” and think, “what a lovely ingredient for tea. Most people hear that and immediately stop drinking. The fact that I didn’t even notice means you’ve either built up my trust or accidentally poisoned me enough times that I’ve developed confidence in your judgment. Neither possibility makes me feel better. And before you get excited, nope, that’s not permission to poison more beverages. I can practically hear you thinking about it already.

As for your butterflies… nope, I don’t want them to die. They’re adorable. You’re lucky they’re adorable. If they looked even half as threatening as you do when you’re angry, I’d probably have a different opinion. So yep, feed them poisonous flowers. Grow entire poisonous gardens if you want. Just leave criminals out of the menu. See? I’m compromising. Look at us being mature adults. Well… one mature adult and one immortal flower spirit who compares vigilantism to Whack-a-Mole.

Open RP Starter - Gotham Arrival

It was the first time Velithra had ever been away from the forest for this long, the journey to Gotham from Japan had taken ages. She didn’t have her powers since she was so far from the forest and subsequently could not fly. She missed her wings. Throughout her journey she’d found herself reaching to her back only to find nothing there. The air of Gotham was filled with a strong stench of death and darkness. It was wonderful. Sure, it wasn’t the comforting smell of poisonous flowers that she was used to but this was close as well as new and exciting.

Her mother had sent her off with a warning to be careful, she wouldn’t be immortal this far from the forest, and her father had kissed her on the head while sobbing about his baby girl growing up. Velithra hadn’t pointed out that she was hardly a girl at all, seeing as she was a spirit, but she hadn’t wanted to hurt the mortal man anymore than his emotions already were.

It was dark and dreary, the cold air cutting into her skin and making her feel so very dead. It felt like home! She got a few stares here and there from some people with her eye-catching pink to purple long hair and light purple dress that shimmered under the moon, making her look ethereal and inhuman. The fabric of the dress was woven from the nymphs of the forest and had been given as a parting gift. Her purple eyes hardly helped the intrigued gazes either.

Tua had been following her for a while now. It was hard in Gotham to catch a glimpse of something so... living. Tua wanted it, wanted whatever made her smile and walk down the street without a care. Or, alternatively, take away whatever that was. Because it was unfair. It was unfair and Tua didn't understand. She wanted that. She wanted that smile that hair that- aura all around her.

She cleared her throat and tried in vain to brush the stains out of her hoodie. "H-hey-" She caught up to the woman, catching her by the shoulder and prancing in front of her. "Hey- Hi-" Despite her clearing her throat she had a permanent buildup of grime and mildew in the back of her throat that made her voice sound anything but smooth.

"I wanna talk-" Her accent pushed more than anything else. She jabbed her thumb towards the nearest ally. "Just 'way from the crowds, y'know?"

“Oh, hello!” Velithra smiled without a care in the world, taking in the sight of the girl. She was like Gotham itself, dark and grimey. Velithra loved it. It reminded her of some of the creatures back in the forest.

“Away? Sure!” She was not yet used to city life, nor Gotham at all. The danger of going into an alley with someone you had never met was something she was unfamiliar with. Granted, Velithra did not have all of her powers but her flowers, butterflies, and poison were still there and ready to be summoned. Her mortality so far from the forest was a thing she was also not yet used to.

The alley looked like a hole of shadows, as if one would disappear and cease to exist simply by walking into it. “Is it this one you want to speak in? Ah, do you not like crowds? Or is it that it is hard to hear?”
