here’s a template of sorts you can use to add fake blockquotes to your icons. it’s 100px tall, and the example square is 100x100—it’s mostly there to show where roughly your icon’s edge should be, i recommend you delete it after use. if you icons are smaller than 100px tall, just crop the thing to your icon canvas height, and you’ll be fine.
i recommend saving this image and opening it on photoshop as opposed to copy-pasting, because these blockquotes are partially transparent ( and as thus, also don’t work with gifs, as they will show up as just light grey ) and will automatically match the blockquotes all tumblr dashboard themes but one, cyber near perfectly. here’s an example of it used with an icon, you can see the effect yourself when you switch dash themes.
like or reblog if you found this useful, and don’t claim it as your own, and please credit when used in combination with icon borders made by other people to avoid confusion!
I have a few questions concerning Roleplay and Roleplay styles! I'm not that experienced in Roleplay, probably on around two years of experience? And I haven't been making much progress with improvement. But seeing all the Roleplayers who write long and descriptive post makes me more determined to improve! So do you have any advice on how to become a more literate and discriptive Roleplayer?
Absolutely!
As far as types go, you have the following:
One Liner Straight forward. A one line response, usually with quick dialogue and an action.
Semi-para About half of a paragraph response length. Usually three, maybe four sentences.
Para About a paragraph response. Five to six sentence responses.
Multi-para Multiple paragraph responses. Ranging from two to five paragraphs usually.
Novella Much longer responses. Ranging from seven to ten+ paragraphs.
When it comes to writing more, expanding your posts, there’s plenty to consider:
Background What is happening around or behind the characters that may add to the atmosphere of the scene?
Sight What does your character see? Do they notice details, vibrant colors, things that stand out to them?
Smell What does their environment smell like? Is it musty, damp and gross? Are they around food with a lovely aroma? Do they notice someone’s perfume as they pass by?
Sound What do they hear? Is someone whispering about them behind their back? Do they eavesdrop on a conversation? Does a cat meow down the alleyway?
Taste The olfactory senses are interconnected. Sometimes a smell can create a taste in the mouth, like smoke or dust. How does what they might be eating taste? Is it sweet? Maybe salty and a little sweet? Tangy pasta sauce?
Touch Is their new sweater itchy and they regret wearing it out? What about the smooth, coolness of silk bed sheets? The way gravel digs groove beneath their bare feet?
Bodily reactions Are they nervous, causing their shoulders to tense up? Did they eat too much and now they feel uncomfortable? Do they smell great food and their mouth becomes wet with hungry?
What are they thinking? Do they think the drapes in the apartment are ugly? Do they think what someone said was rude? Do they remember that they forgot to put the mail in the mail box, but they’re on a train to their destination?
How do they carry themselves? How is their posture? How do they walk? Do they talk with their hands or are more reserved? To they talk loudly or softly? Do they wear makeup or cologne? How do they normally dress? Do they have visible tattoos? Do they have a good poker face or are unable to hide their expressions depending on how they feel?
When it comes to styles, it’s all about finding your own and over time, you will. The best advice I can give is to consume more media. Read more, watch movies, play games. See how other artists and writers create atmosphere and exhibit their craft. Also, practice. If you write more often, keep a journal, you will get better. Expand your vocabulary! Try to learn new words for things every day.
Here are some other resources that might be helpful to you: Writing Prompts There is a plethora of prompts out there in the world that can help spark ideas and allow you to explore your character in different situations they may not usually find themselves. It is a great way to improve your understanding of your character while also pushing you to write. Word Counter An excellent resource to help you proofread, show the level of writing you have, and words you use excessively. bubbl.us If you’re ever having trouble brainstorming some plots with partners, this is a great resource that uses bubbles to help you map out your ideas, characters, etc! You can save it and go back to it later, and add onto it as you go. Keep track of important areas of the story, character developments and so forth. Grammarly Lite This browser extension is excellent when it comes to editing texts and proof-reading for you. If it doesn’t sound right or if it has a suggestion for you, it will notify you to change it! A wonderful extension for roleplayers and writers of all types. Purdue University An excellent resource to help you understand and improve your grammar. Writer’s Digest A large community of writers with helpful articles, community writing prompts, and so much more to offer. I think it has the ability to improve anyone at all levels of writing skill. Hopefully this will help you improve your writing! Best wishes!

When you give your heart away, you usually get it back in pieces, fragments. And often, a great deal of time passes before you realize that every piece wasn’t returned to you—and probably never will be. You crave nothing more than to get those small—but vital—fragments back; to return to the unbroken, undamaged version of yourself. But what’s been broken cannot be unbroken, and so all you can do is learn to live with the void of the missing pieces, to somehow find beauty in the wreckage.
