CARRD TEMPLATE #10: GENSHIN WIKI PAGE / demo / $10

Oogh oof my brain after working on this ... but if you've ever wanted your own wiki page layout for a carrd, look no further! This is a single-muse focused carrd template for roleplaying which is centered around the Genshin Impact wiki page (but of course you can repurpose it for other wiki pages). This is quite image and information heavy, but you can remove and add sections as is needed for your character (hell, merge the lore stories into just one big chunky background section if you'd like to).

HOW TO’S / INFO

— please do not remove the credit from the carrd regardless of how much you change it / frankenstein it. same case for please do not resell or redistribute it. — comes with a rules tab, about page with a lot of sub-pages (lore, voice-lines, bonds aka exclusives and mains, and verses). single-muse focused. — all the images will need replacement, and images may need manual adjustment for size vs content. — as a heads up, the header container uses the same image as the background to create the illusion of transparency. — you can find all the images used for the logo + background (and some alt backgrounds!) + quote backgrounds etc etc in this Google Drive folder. front page images, namecard, constellation, about page, and specific skill icons are not provided (though there is a placeholder one in the folder). — relatively mobile friendly.

alright roleplayers,    im not even going to lie — not being able to format posts in the true Vintage Tumblr Style™ has actually pissed me off so bad... anyways, if you want to bring back the old    <sup><small>    text,    this is how you do it. 

just for transparency’s sake, this will not force tiny text on people who do not follow the tutorial, so its a win win for us who like that ye olde ant sized tumblr text and those that don’t. it also works with the post editor!

—— i am not a pro coder or teacher, therefore my terminology may be off. i tried my best to illustrate & visualize everything, though !!

1.     what you’re going to want to do is download the    stylus    extension from the extension store ( mozilla & chrome ),   not   stylish. ( stylish steals browser history and shit.    stylish bad.   )

2.    when the extension is installed, select “find styles” from the extension menu, and look up “no more small text”.  the correct style should have a pic of jenna marbles on the dash as the thumbnail lol. 

3.    alright !     we got the    ‘no more small text’   extension. it sounds counter productive, but it’s not ! it edits the <small> text function, so now all we have to do is edit the font size it changes the <small> tag to. to do this, click the little pen next to the name of the extension.

4.    this should open a new page with a text editor containing the code for the script. pay no attention to any code except the chunk shown below. see that circled green text ? that's what we're changing.

i haven't messed with em as unit for font size (i'm used to px), but i've found that 0.82em is a pretty good size to use for smaller text, however, you can mess around with the font size to make it as big or little as you want. after adjusting, your code should look like this:

5.    after this, you're pretty much done! this will basically change the font size of anything under the <small> functions on your dashboard to your desired size. all you have to do is hit the save button to the left of the style editor page. maybe even rename it to small text or something so it's not confusing in the future.

but.... if you want to be greedy and bring back that sweet <sup> text from before, like, 2020, you're gonna add a little vertical-align attribute.

6.   DIRECTLY after the font size styling, and BEFORE the closing } we're gonna add this: vertical-align: 3px!important; if pasted correctly, your code should now look like this:

the vertical-align tag will add an offset to the text under the <small> function, simulating the look of the old <sup><small> tag combination. we can't actually bring back real <sup><small> text because, as far as i'm aware, tumblr blocks it. just like with the prior step, mess around with the amount of vertical align to your hearts content ! after this you're finished, like actually finished.

does anyone know a good FREE alternative to google docs, drive etc. i’m trying to systematically remove google from my life (side note: it is very fucking difficult) & i can’t afford to buy microsoft 365 or anything

When stray from Google n Microsoft, what tend happen either:

The amount space can use for free much smaller than Google and Microsoft per account,

Not have all tools or features that Google n Microsoft have, or just 1 specialization.

Need “Self-host” or some other hands-on technical thing

This mean that might have to use multiple these, improvise a combination workflow, and/or invest time n energy into setting up

That in mind though …

proton.me - Mail (1GB), Calendar (3 versions), Drive (1GB), VPN (1 connection), Password Manager (1 vault).

cozy cloud - Drive (5GB), Password Manager, Office (read), Notes - and some other features

cryptpad - Suite - Documents, Spreadsheets, and such. Drive (1GB) in official instance.

Terabox - Just Drive, but 1TB or 1000GB.

Transfernow - Just file transfers (5GB per transfer file)

fromsmash - Just file transfers (“unlimited” file size, but if file above 12gb it slow down while upload)

syncthing (selfhost but quick) - Just synchronizing files between devices

seafile (selfhost) - File transfer, sharing, and syncing (3 users)

of course there also app alternatives like Libre Office and OnlyOffice (self-host)

and main self-host full suites like filecloud and nextcloud (the pricing on those two website are for if you don’t “self-host”)

Self-hosting mean when you setup an app or service to connect to internet through your server / computer or someone else’s.

Usually, the “cost” of if free, depend on what “server” use and how. So there people that try self-host on their own computers

Generally, self-host done on:

1. an old unused computer left running on.

2. a dedicated computer.

3. a cloud with a service with free tiers or cheap for app hosting. (though the ones with generous free tiers tend be big companies - like Amazon and Microsoft)

In other words, it require some technical literacy of that type if go this route…

There are tutorials though, like:

Self-hosting a whole thing with many options and can be overwhelming (“awesome selfhosted” list)

Also general “switch away from google” playlist (though most videos too broad for topic)

Is kinda complicated at moment.

Apologies for not replying to this any sooner for I've completely forgotten about it. I honestly don't know of any blogs that have themes for google slides. The only thing I can think of offhand is to type in Google Slide Templates or Google Slide Themes via the search bar. I do know there are tons of blogs that make Carrd templates, though! HELLO EVERYONE !  personally, whenever i make carrds for my characters ( or anything really ) one thing i always struggle with is which fonts to use.  carrd has a lot of them and it’s kinda difficult to choose without spending a lot of time trying them all out.  so i’ve decided to make a little carrd which includes previews for every single font offered on the website.  it’s all very basic and is just meant as a quick preview of how all the letters look but i decided to share it here in case anyone else finds this helpful.
