SS is normally unflappable cool as a cucumber all round badass. Companions reacting to them becoming a blubbering mess in their first radiation storm (If you wanna get fluffy on Hancock or Danse don't let me stop you *shifty eyes*)
Donât worry anon, you shall have your fluff. (Sorry if these get sloppy towards the end, Iâm just goingfurther into the night lmao)
Cait: Cait mumbles a swear under her breath as the thunder struck, and a green hue fell over everything. âShite. We should find- what are you doing? Youâre blubberinglike a baby, this isnât like you at all,â she says, surprised. She sighs andgrabs Soleâs arm.Â
âCome on, we gotta find shelter somewhere,â she saysimpatiently, then much more softly, she says, âIts ok, ya big sook, now comeon, letâs hide under something.â
Codsworth: âOh dear sir/mum, itâs alright. Itâs just like athunderstorm. Come, letâs get somewhere safe.â Codsworth, having seen Sole through worse, is nothing butunderstanding and comforting.
Curie: âOh dear! Madame/Monsieur, are you hurt?â Curie says, withconcern. She didnât believe Sole was sick or injured; they were finemoments ago, showing no symptoms of pain. It suddenly occurred to her that Solemight only be frightened. âWe are safe, see?â Curie says, pointing to the ceiling.
When Sole doesnât calm, Curie tries a thing she has occasionallyseen other people do, and she puts her arms around Sole, feeling immensely proudof herself when Sole softens in her arms and breathes steadily.
Danse: Hiding from the radiation storm in the shelter of a batteredbuilding, Danse sighs. âI keep telling you; power armour is more than worthwearing. It provides safety when it comes to storms such as these-â Danse stopsas he notices Soleâs state: they were crying and shaking, flinching at everystrike of thunder.
âSoldier?â Danse is unsure how to approach. He had never seenSole in this state before. âAre you frightened?â he says, uncertain. He thinkshe makes out a nod. A few moments of silence pass, broken only by the storm andSoleâs ragged breathing. Sole hears the mechanical sound of Danse exiting hispower armour, before they see him in front of them with a gentle grip on theirhands.
âItâs alright. Youâre safe. Just breathe,â Danse says, hisvoice steady. He welcomes Sole into an embrace, rubbing at their backcomfortingly and convincing himself he was only doing what was necessary andtrying to ignore the warmth in his cheeks.
Deacon: âAh, crap,â Deacon says, as a greenish hue falls over him. âIhope you brought your umbrella, boss. A stormâs a-brewinâ.â When he doesnât hear a reaction from Sole, he turns to themand finds them shaking and freaking out.
âBoss? You alright?â he says slowly, surprised as Sole wasusually the untouchable leader type. âYou know what would be even better thanan umbrella? A house.â He makes a jest, and, with a hand on their back, guidesSole to a battered house. Deacon makes an overdramatic and gentlemanly show ofit, and then sits beside Sole after he shuts the door behind them. He wasnât sure how to comfort Sole. Sole had scarcely neededcomforting up till now. He decided to do what he did best: joke.
âYâknow, the first time I was in a rad-storm, I had had onetoo many cans of cram, and I shit my pants.â It was a dumb joke, but he smiled when he heard a snort fromSole, who leaned into his shoulder and let him take their mind off of the stormwith ridiculous stories.
Dogmeat: Dogmeat makes a worried whimper, nudging them and curling upby their legs.
Sorry that gif was too perfect- hereâs the actual reaction.
âAh, here comes a storm,â Hancock mumbles, looking up at thesky. He turns to Sole, not expecting to see them blubbering, but not toosurprised. Everybodyâs got fears. âHey, youâre not looking so hot. Whaddya saywe go find some shelter, we donât want you lookinâ like me.â
Hancock puts an arm around Sole and takes them into abattered building, holding them as they shake and letting them sniffle into hiscoat. âHey, hey⊠Itâs alright,â he murmurs comfortingly, pulling them closerand resting his chin on their head.
MacCready: âOh, come on,â MacCready mutters in annoyance as the stormstarts. âHey, youâre not planning on dragging me through the storm, right?â Heglances over at Sole, shocked as he sees them freaking out. âHey, you uh, wannaget somewhere safe?â
When Sole nods, he spots a shelter to hide out in. âHm, shoulddo the job,â he murmurs. He sits next to Sole in silence for a few moments. âTheyârepretty scary, huh?â he says. âTo be honest, rad-storms still scare the sh- crapoutta me.â He shuffles towards Sole, putting an arm around them in a somewhatawkward fashion, but Sole found it comforting nonetheless.
Nick: âHere comes a storm,â Nick murmurs, turning to see Soleâsstate. âHey- kid, itâs alright. Come on, letâs get you safe.â With a comfortingarm on Soleâs back, he finds them shelter and does his best to comfort them. âThebest thing about being a bucket of bolts is that you donât have to worry aboutrads,â he chuckles once the two are sheltered.
Piper: The sky begins to turn green, and thunder cracks. âOh, great. Blue?âPiperâs shocked to see Sole shaking and crying. âHey, Blue, donât stress,â shesays softly, taking their arm. When she held Nat during her first rad-storm,Piper took Sole to a sheltered place and talked them through their panic, withcomforting words and hugs.
Preston: âGeneral, thereâs a storm on its way,â Preston says, startledto see Sole as frightened and panicked as they were. Preston figured as laidback as Sole was, they would have some hidden vulnerability in there somewhere.âHey, thereâs no shame in being scared. Come on, we only need to get under aroof and wait out the storm,â heâs as helpful and gentlemanly as he can be.
