Delighted to share one of the two Celeborn commissions I’ve been working on this batch! The commissioner for this one wanted me to show him as young-ish, definitely whilst he was still living in Doriath, and I quote ‘the kind of elf that would make a Noldo princess’ jaw hit the floor’, and I was only too happy to oblige.

Anyway, if I was walking around in Lothlorien and this guy turns up and goes ‘where is Gandalf for I would much like to speak with him’, I would be telling him to hold on for five minutes, before hopping onto ebay and typing in ‘fake beard’, ‘pointy wizard hat’ and ‘morning after pill’.

The Tattoo Post™️ is so revealing of the current state of trans discourse online. Really it’s quite a fascinating case study. Right from the jump we have the weirdly paternalistic framing that trans men should run tattoo ideas by their friends, insinuating that trans men innately have poor judgment. By singling out trans men as a demographic rather than just advising people get feedback on their tattoo ideas or stating that they think the tattoo in question is bad, OP implies that it is trans men specifically and no other demographic that deserve to be held to this level of scrutiny. And even if you stripped the weird gender wars bullshit away from the whole thing, there remains the fact that putting a stranger on blast over an innocuous tattoo is deeply weird and uhhh bullying? Just straight up middle school bully behavior? What the hell is wrong with you?

How they introduce Celeborn – who canonically married Galadriel in the First Age, and in TROP has been apart from her for centuries – remains to be seen. But their dynamic is partly inspired by Tolkien and his wife, Edith. “This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart,” says Bower. “I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well.” And Clark was more than game to contribute to the pair’s sparkling interplay. “She’s kind of rude to him in the books,” she chuckles. “She’s the queen! But Jamie looks exactly like how I would imagine Celeborn. He’s such an Elf.”

Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay saw hundreds of tapes for Celeborn – but even without Elf ears and the rest, it was clear that Bower had the stuff. “He has this voice that is rich and hypnotic and sonorous that feels it has the wisdom of the ages buried inside of it,” says Payne. “And then we did a chemistry read [with Clark], and instantly it just felt like he loved her so much. It felt so natural, and so organic, and so right.” In the age of Sauron, Middle-earth could use a few more lover-boys."

Idk if the way I'm phrasing this makes sense, but this wave of people i see online saying that trans men are all eager to "misgender themselves" whatever the hell that means, just goes to show that cisperisex experiences with manhood are still seen as the default standard to the point where acknowledging that some men do not share those experiences must be dismissing their manhood in someway.
