what grad school is starting to feel like:
Calvin and Hobbes,
It doesn’t happen like that. You don’t just wake up one day and find that everything has worked itself out. You must get out of bed, morning after morning, and make a conscious effort to control the circumstances of that given day. You must learn to handle your issues with grace because you respect what they are attempting to teach you. You must drown your insecurities slowly, one self-realization at a time. You must allow yourself to feel the fear bubbling just beneath your skin but you must never allow it the satisfaction of crippling you; grit your teeth and march on. You see, they never tell you how hard these things will be. This fight to reclaim yourself is not easy or straightforward but, my god, is it necessary.
lmao as if this wasn’t every piece of lab equipment ever
You know what absolutely boggles my mind? That healthy people exist. Genuinely healthy people. No mental illness, no physical illness, no chronic illness. Just healthy. What a life that must be.
This fucks with my head though. There are people who get up and feel… Awake, and then they go and just… Do their adult responsibilities without feeling anxious or upset? They just return phonecalls? Answer calls from unknown numbers? Don’t procrastinate doing important things until is a huge problem that makes you cry??
That sounds fake.
me, drinking a coffee: I should go get coffee when I’m done with this coffee.
LITTLE LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Really, it’s:
Scientists: There’s a problem Industry, passing money to politicians: No there’s not. Politicians: No there’s not.
they always tell you that in research you have to get used to failure, because 99% of the time, something will go wrong. but what they don’t always tell you is that sometimes the thing that goes wrong is your own fault. so not only do you need to be resilient to failure, but also to making mistakes (and owning up to them and learning from them).
Absolutely this. Nothing is worse than something going wrong and it was completely your fault.
However, beating yourself up over it is counter productive. Learn and move on. Besides, now you know how to avoid that mistake.
im not trying my hardest but im very tired which i think should be taken into consideration
Anyone else go through that occasional phase where toast and butter is just the tastiest fucking creation on the planet and you have to restrain yourself from eating an entire loaf of bread in ten minutes
Ignorant people are more likely to believe they are brilliant, while intelligent people are more likely to underestimate themselves.

If you take things day by day, then the time that you have here on earth will be enough. Really make a point of appreciating this life that you have right now, and seeing it for what it is. Learn the lessons that life hands to you, and be grateful for the resulting development that you experience. Take on challenges and appreciate everything around you, and by the time you get to the end of this life, you will be ready to move onto the next one in store for you.
